I'm looking to move from Philadelphia to the southwest US, preferably Arizona or Nevada. I am sick and tired of expensive rent, cold winters, high crime, and nasty environment. I've traveled to Arizona (Sedona) several times now and I am in love with mountains out there, and want to live in that type of environment. I have no debt whatsoever, I have no wife/gf, no pets, and no monthly payments besides phone and car insurance. I have around $15k and a reliable vehicle. My question is this, could I safely move to somewhere in the southwest and continue surviving as a bartender by myself? I'm thinking Henderson, NV seems like an all around great choice. Safe city, lots of restaurant work, cheaper rent than where I am now in Philadelphia, close to Las Vegas airport allowing cheap travel to several National Parks, great weather all year, etcthanks

Henderson is soulless boomer suburbia, but it's true that you can easily escape the city and be out there in the vast wastes all alone. Hope you enjoy the wind that comes with living in an arid continental region. Winters aren't as mild as you think; all it takes is a little high clouds and that cold breeze blowing at 47 degrees or so and you're wishing you didn't throw away your warm winter coat.
