Where should I go in Athens if I really want to see its evil side?
Wander around the Metaxourgeio area until you find a house with the door open and porch light on in the middle of the day, walk inside, have 10 euros ready. Don't say I didn't warn you

Ironically though I always stay there anyway because I know Greek and it’s close to where most theaters and music venues are. So it doesn’t make sense for me to stay in overpriced Plaka or by the Akropolis where most would rather stay.

Apparently functionality beats luxury and anyway that's not progress, it's cancer.

>>2746039Metaxorgeio wasn't as bad as some of the black neighborhoods in US cities I've been to like Philly, Baltimore, Richmond, Oakland, but I definitely did not feel safe. I dressed way down and was ready to run for my life if it came to it. There were a lot of addicts, vagrants, immigrants and weirdos out. There are some nice spots in Athens. Go grab a meal at the Metropolis Roof Garden. There's an awesome scuba beach right outside the city at Lefteri's cantina.
