Should I move to Orange County CA? I'm in Seattle and just about done with the shit weather, ugly workaholic from home people, and wokeness. I can transfer within my company.
Do it. If you're already paying Seattle prices, you can afford Orange County. Don't look for apartments in Anaheim or Santa Ana. I'd recommend Irvine, San Clemente, Newport Beach, Brea, any of the laguna cities. Really anything east of the 55 freeway is the better part of the county.
>>2744380Huntington Beach is the most antiwoke city in California.
>>2744396Do you know what I should expect to pay to rent a single family house or townhouse (with a 2 car garage and AC) in one of those decent areas? I'm seeing $4k and up.It does seem more expensive than Seattle, actually, as $3k+ is about the equivalent here (and there's no state income tax)>>2744664Elaborate.
>>2744380Don't move here unless you're white and love the beach. Too many faggots here already, we need to preserve socal surf culture. Locals will subtly and overtly let you know you're not welcome in the water and other spots, takes years to build respect so be prepared. Expect to pay premium for housing, prices only ever go up, but you're paying for contentious beach access. Surfers are crazy. If you don't surf, don't start.
>>2744995I'm white and like the beach. I'm used to it being a cold place that stinks of seaweed though (Beaches in Washington state)
>>2744965>ElaborateNo OP, but I have been there and Orange County specifically HB is an oasis of Conservatives in commiefornia. There is zero woke bullshit there. I don't know why that is, but it's actually very nice and feels real, not fake like LA
Apparently OC (Socal in general?) has a massive ant infestation.
>>2744380>I'm done with wokeness>Behold as I move to fucking California
>>2744965>It does seem more expensive than Seattleno shit lol
>>2745110From what I’ve heard, wokeness in Seattle is more fervent. Because the weather is shit and the people are shit, they’re real zealots for that. While in California, their wokeness is basically when someone brings you a work problem while you’re on vacation.>”Sir teen pregnancy rates are up”>”Well teach them how to use condoms I don’t fucking know, leave me alone”I don’t live in either place, but this is how I heard a comedian describe it and it was funny so I’m telling you now.
>>2744380I live in so cal and hate everywhere north of about SLO with a passion. There's a major cultural difference that's hard to pick up on until you spend time on the west coast.>>2745002Because its rich and white. Orange County is where people who are already good looking and successful live, the east coast equivalent is the Hamptons. Being a Chad/Stacey is a big part of the culture so people who think everyone should be fat, unbathed, communist and gay are frowned upon. Bay area culture on the other hand is dorky and the PNW too grungey. Surf culture (with other extreme sports like mx and snowboarding) is driven by young white able-bodied males who don't really like minorities or feminism or having to share their shit with losers, so its a bastion of non-woke culture. >>2744396I personally like Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, HB and Costa Mesa, really chill places that are mostly white, a fun place to live and hang out with a lot of good restaurants and bars and beaches. Irvine has too many pajeets and asian tiger parents who kill the vibe. South OC like Laguna, San Clemente while really pretty and very clean, are extremely expensive and the average person there is 80+ years old. East of 405 might as well be in Riverside.>>2745146People in the PNW are also far more nosey. They like to get into your business, snoop and lecture you. In OC everything is "me me me" so its rare to hear someone pop off about your carbon footprint or unhoused "people" or whatever. LA is more woke because its mostly black and brown people looking for gibs. One thing though is OC is still very competitive and workaholic. If you're looking for somewhere people work at a slower, more relaxed pace look at San Diego especially north county. Everywhere is expensive AF tho and if you're not from here or don't already have money it's hard to make it between the state's high costs of housing, gas, and everything else.
>>2745181You sound super mad lmao
overpriced. if you have the money sure then do it. Just move to tijuana and spend your time in san diego. thats what i did for about a year. paid $1450 a month for house in gated community with security. despite statistics it felt safe the city. was more worried about police than crime. had global entry card so it was easy to cross border.boomer parents would never visit me because they were scared to step foot in mexico. life was goodcurrently on traveling spree now and not set in one place but i would go back in summer or around may when it warms up.
>>2745181I'm pretty much convinced. I am working out the transfer.>>2745498I'm not moving to mexico bro. But you do you.
>>2745181>I personally like Seal Beach, Sunset Beach, HB and Costa MesaBrown hands wrote this. He's very wrong. Costa Mesa is where the Mexicans live. Seal Beach has crime and homelessness because it's too close to Long Beach. The vagrants stroll in and sleep on every bench and in every park. Sunset Beach has nothing. And Huntington Beach is mostly a shithole unless you're living one street from the beach or in a private gated community. You want to look in south Orange County. Irvine, Newport, Corona Del Mar, Dana Point, San Clemente, any of the lagunas, anything rancho, Brea. For a townhouse, you'd be looking at $3400+ in a nice area. Look at Marea in Dana Point. We almost moved there, but it was a little too far from my work. They have 2bed/2 bath with a garage for $3400. It's essentially resort living (and gated) and you'd be half a mile from some of the best beaches in the state. That area has everything and is gorgeous.
