Hello anons
I am going to Zurich for NYE, then Grindelwald/Wengen/Interlaken for paragliding, mountains, bratwurst, rosti, scenic trains, cable cars, maybe skiing, chocolate and just enjoying the nature and the beautiful landscapes.

What is something you think I should do during my 3 day trip in this beautiful corner of the planet? Anything a tourist/google/extensive AI research wouldn't know that you think is cool? What's the best spot for bratwurst?

Don't get too excited for swiss food. Your best bet in Switzerland is to find a good Italian place.

Can't be any worse than England hahaha. Definitely looking to try rosti, wurst, maybe raclette, fondue. Don't know any other Swiss cuisine. Is there more to look for?

when i went to switzerland i ordered fondue and i just sat there thinking what the fuck am i doing with my life paying 40 quid for a bowl of melted cheese and a roll of plain bread

Was the cheese good??

We tried fondue twice when I was in Zermatt. Once was terrible and once was just ok. The price we paid was so insanely outrageous that it just wasn't worth it. I'll shell out the dough for amazing food, but not for a 'just ok' meal. I'd rather eat a good steak if I'm going to spend big money.

"40 quid" he says? Our bill was 170 for 2 people at Saycheese.

We did have two good meals in Zermatt, one was at a British pub called brown cow, and one was an italian pizza joint called Golden Lok.

This applies to most of europe

I just came back. You're right the food everywhere was crazy expensive and I don't really shy from spending money but fuck me! 40 franks here, 50 franks there. Add a drink, dessert, make it a 2 course and it's 100+. Made me want to not eat anything to be honest.
Although the food was very nice. The Swiss have good food.

Anyway, I went Zurich which I should have skipped to be honest although the outdoor rooftop thermal bath at the Hürlimannbad & Spa was a great experience. Good herbal steam room as well. I went to Grindelwald and First, which was AMAZING. Amazing view of the Alps, I was too late to do the zipline which pissed me off because I paid for it and nobody told me they close 15 minutes after I got to the top and spent a bit admiring the views and shit. Didn't ski/sledge (no time) and my paragliding got cancelled due to bad weather (boooo! Even bought a fucking GoPro for it!) but it was lovely anyway. Spent a night at a ski resort in Wengen, beautiful hotel, great hospitality, felt like I was in the Hitman Blood Money mission in that winter resort. Fucking gorgeous view from the balcony. Lovely town. Went to Interlaken and saw the Harder-Potschete parade which was an experience in itself. Saw some ibexes in the park, did some sightseeing. Good trip but it was way too short, there's so much to do in Switzerland in the Alps region you definitely need a week to enjoy it the right way. I might go back one time in summer when it's all green and beautiful and the cows are out and shit.
But yeah, great trip regardless. I should have skipped Zurich (the fireworks display was all fucked due to fog so nobody saw shit. You could feel the disappointment in the air, there were tens of thousands of people by Lake Zurich just waiting for the show but it was a flop. Great bratwurst though. Might go through Geneve next time.

Go Switzerland anons. You won't regret it.

You should check out Chamonix next time you do the Alps. The food and nightlife are a lot better with the same views. I did Annecy on my last trip too and loved it. We hit a bunch of awesome bars in and the shopping street was awesome. You can fly into Geneva and get to Chamonix is 40 minutes by bus.

Just looked Chamonix up, looks gorgeous!! Good tip anon thanks a lot. Annecy looks very cozy also. Sounds like a good plan for the trip v2. To be honest I should have just stayed for another day or two and just get another flight home before I need to get back to work and my normal routine. I didn't even get to try fondue! I need to go paragliding in the Alps so might do a rerun. Maybe cross over to Italy or southern France after. We'll see. Luv me mountains

We went through the tunnel and did Courmayeur Italy. It was fun for a few hours, but Annecy was a lot better. Zermatt is unreal too if you have time. But insanely expensive.

There are a lot of small towns and cities in the area that I want to go back and see. La Clusaz, Chambéry, Megeve, Avoriaz. I have a friend out there who swears that Portes du Soleil is the best ski area on earth.
