I'm going on a trip soon to Australia and I have to buy some new clothes for summer there. Some t-shirts, some shorts, maybe a nice shirt and pants for going out to dinner in, some new shoes. But I don't even know where to start, and time is running out fast. The thought of going there and looking bad is making me so depressed. I've never looked good, never had a good outfit, but all I know is, I want to look like someone well travelled, laid back, care free. It's hard to do that with new clothes, but I don't want to buy thrifted shit. What should I do /trv/, and have you ever felt this way during or before travel? inb4 I'm a retard yes I know be helpful or move on.
This is more of a /fa/ topic, but anyways Tim Dessaint is a pretty good resource if you wanna figure out how to dress stylishly and cheaply. He has a very minimalist fashion sense that works well in pretty much any environment. It's also a good starting point for figuring out your own style as you develop taste.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z5qKBLjvjI&pp=ygUUdGltIGRlc3NhaW50IGNhcHN1bGU%3D
>>2747430Also don't overlook thrifting, you can find some real nice pieces at thriftstores or flea markets if you're diligent. Some of the clothes I get the most compliments on are Jackets and sweaters I found at local fleas/swap meets
>>2747430/fa/ is an even slower board than /trv/ these days. The site is really dying.
>>2747451imo I prefer 4chan as a slower alternative to the quick dopamine burst that every other place on the internet has turned into.I don't really see it as the site dying, but more like it's reverting to an older standard of internet communication.
>>2747451Where the fuck are people even moving to? I thought that the internet was dead after forums died, but 4chan was a nice respite from the shittiness of reddit and the like. But what happens now?I want the old internet back. I grew up with it and I miss it.
>>2747451coz it's a cesspit that rarely garners real answers or results, you just get un-funny attack responses from bored edgy neckbeards (or pre-neckbeards) attacking for the sake of attacking, it gets old and boring after a while.>>2747428just bring a decent sized suitcase, fill it only by a third/half and buy clothes when you get here as we're already well into our summer clothing cycle. Our dollar is also in the toilet, so it should be a little cheaper.. i guess..
>>27475134chan is mostly 18 year olds asking for advice from 20 year olds, pretending like they are elders. There are people who have been trapped here from habit since the early 2000sSometimes this is good, like in /fa/ or brand new but shallow uses for new tech like the /g/ LLM and generative AI threads. But its terrible once you've gotten past the most basic of basics, like in basically every single /ck/ thread. /trv/ feels like /ck/ but occasionally you'll see people offering real advice. I no longer bothering posting any help though. Theres no advantage in my life to telling random strangers on the internet my favorite places.
