Greetings /trv/,I'm going to Czech Republic next March. As I already know Prague my main focus would be in other cities. My planned route:>Prague/ Kutna Hora 2 days (one for arrival and other for a day-trip to Kutna Hora)>Pilsen/ Karlovy Vary 3 days (weekend), being one a day-trip to Karlovy>Czesky Krumlov/ Czeske Budekovice 3 days, being one a day-trip to Budekovice>Prague/ Hradec Kralove/ Pradubice 4 days. It would be the St. Patrick's weekend, so I suppose there will be some event there, right?>Ostrava 2 days>Olomouc 2 days>Brno 3 days (weekend)Is Bohemian Paradise good at that time of the year? I may scrap Ostrava for it. I also accept other suggestions.
>>2747626Ostrava is a shit hole, would not recommend. One day in Budejovice isn't enough, would recommend overnight. Amazing place and not as touristy as Krumlov. Definitely try visit the Budvar brewery there. For food I recommend Masne Kramy near the city square or the Kozel restaurant next to the stop Marianka Namisti. For proper Czech food order Svickova at either place. It might be a bit too early but around Easter time you can get Czech green beer, it isn't the best but its worth a try. Also see if they offer Silvowitz, try the plum kind (brandy). Tastes like hell but it's a typical Czech thing. Fun fact, the city square in Budejovice is the largest in Central Europe by square area. For pubs there I recommend either Iron Maiden (great view of the Malse River) or Singer if you'd more into dive bars. Other bars you can try out are Kampa (on the University grounds to the west, 5 bus stops from the centre) or Zluta Poneroka for something more fancy. Definitely worth visiting the black tower to give a good view of the city. If you're into a weird mix of commie/Art Deco architecture, walk down Lannova street, right near the train station, you can walk into the shopping centre Prior for a communist style shopping centre experience (be warned that no one speaks English there).March is still a bit cold, otherwise would definitely say take a canoe ride along the Vltava between Krumlov and Budejovice, great nature and tons of places to stop and load up on beer between the towns. Literally if you went during any other month there would be more specific things I could recommend, but March is rather I can't comment too munch on Pilsen, Karlovy Vary, Olomouc or Brno, but if you want detailed info on what to do in Prague or Ceske Budejovice, let me know. - t. Amerimutt who lived 5 years in Budejovice, probably the best place I've lived in so far, nice trip down memory line writing this...
>>2748734Cesky Krumlov during the off-season is mostly locals. I went in late September and it was all locals from Budějovice at the bars. There are some great restaurants and a fantastic brewery in town. At a little place called Krčma Šatlava, I had one of the best meals I've eaten in Europe.
