why does France get so many more tourists than everyone else?
>>
>>2747687
France is the main hub for Europe and i'd argue for Africa as well.
>>
they include transit passengers
>>
>>2747687
France has the highest population of Black people in europe and europe is the continent with the most white women. Need I say more?
>>
Europe dramatically boosts its own "tourism" from people passing through the neighbouring tiny countries on day trips. I bet you once you take non-European tourists out of these countries they will all fall from the top 10. I don't know anyone that visits Europe these days, everyone wants to visit Japan.
>>
>>2747687
Netherlands so low?
Never been, but I always imagined it was touristy hellhole
>>
>>2747687
It's Paris the top tourism destination of all times?
>>
>>2747687
I doubt Turkey is organically that high. They probably do funny things like tabulating people that go to Turkey from Greece, Bulgaria, Armenia, Georgia, etc. just for a day trip to buy cheap clothes and other items as tourists. Some of those people may visit Turkey several times a year and be counted each time as tourists. They also could be counting people on short term layover flights who don’t even leave the airport or Syrians who visit Syria to see relatives and go back to Turkey.

The Turkish government has a habit of making up stuff and inflating statistics to their favor.

>I don't know anyone that visits Europe these days
That's because none of your countrymen can afford it, Chang.

The one that completely falsifies their numbers is china. They include daytrippers to/from Hong Kong for example. In reality nobody wants to visit china. France has been the top tourism destination for decades for a reason.

The bigger question for me is the US
I can't imagine why anyone would want to go there when there is so much more to see in the world with real history. I guess some of the national parks are very beautiful, fair enough, but is that enough to bolster them to third place?
>>
>>2747687
This chart is total bullshit. Thailand at just a notch over Saudi Arabia? Right.
>>
>>2747984
No real history, really. It's the place that brought the Age of Enlightenment from the metaphysical, to the physical realm.
>>
>>2747999
It's the Hajj.
>>2747771
They seem a lot because they're packed in already small cities.
>>2747769
You really can't count intra-European tourists properly as the Schegnen area really discounts the most efficient way to count them, i.e. at immigration. I've never had the question in Europe.
>>2747984
USA is the goat in pretty much everything, history included. Just because your local backwater 2pig village has an outdoor toilet 400 year old doesn't mean anyone would pay $1000 return flight to see it.
>>
>>2747896
Turkey is really a major beach destination though.
>>
>>2747984
Troll or what? I want to see Times Square and all the shit in the Hollywood movies IRL.

The architectural splendor of Paris is second to none. It's almost more than one can bear. Many tourists go nuts in Paris.
>>

Dude america is dumb why would anyone visit here, NYC is a turdworld hellscape LA is just liberal shit holes. Nothing in this country is worth anyones time, I'm ready to GTFO when my passport finally comes and SEA bounce living off 250/mo for an apartment and get out of Boston.

At least there the girls are pretty, food is yummy and healthy so I can lose weight, my money goes far unlike shit here, public transportation in the cities, and theres tons of culture.
>>
>>2748074
I didn't say I wanted to live there, just visit. Lots of cool stuff to see in the US. Everyone grew up watching American movies, and I don't mean the modern capeshit slop, I mean classics like King Kong showing the Empire State Building, Star Trek showing off the Golden Gate bridge, and so on, it's part of history now some of those movies are about to turn a hundred years old.

Is this counting inter-Schengen tourism?

If not, than this is flawed and Schengen zone should just be counted as a country.
>>
>>2748010
>You really can't count intra-European tourists properly as the Schegnen area really discounts the most efficient way to count them, i.e. at immigration. I've never had the question in Europe.
This could be an estimate, it might not literally be counting every arrival.

Just because nobody is checking the passports doesn't mean we don't have a rough idea of how many people are traveling.

France's numbers just come from Germans, Belgians, and the Dutch driving for 30 minutes. Their numbers are overinflated. Imagine if the USA counted people daytripping across state borders as international tourism, and even that wouldn't work because most US states are far larger than European countries.

Here are the numbers for France broken down by destination

Here is USA's. The border countries of Canada and Mexico also make up a majority, I wager a lot of which is day trips in border cities.

But I do like what you're getting at. It'd be interesting to see EU counted as a country here. EU will still be the dominant tourism area, but I wonder how dominant they are.
>>
>>2747771
yes we are a touristy hellhole and also no one is here because theres nothing to do so dont bother to check for yourself, fuck off were full

Eurobros go to Holland to fuck prostitutes.
But in reality the Netherlands is a country to live in, not to visit.
Safe, prosperous, walkable and bikable, what's not to like?
>>
>>2748171
Mexico has a free trade agreement with the United States, but Mexicans don't have visa free access. They're not applying 6 months in advance for a visa, to do a day trip.
>>
>>2748174
imagine the BRAPS on that engine

Fat incel wants to move to SEA. It’s always the same.

I want to be trapped in her Dutch oven suffocating in her Gouda cheese-scented braps.
>>

I am quite certain they count people who stay the night. They get those numbers from hotels etc. I live near the border. If I cross the border but return the same day it doesn't count. The numbers are so high because during the holiday season Northern Europe will amass visiting France or Spain. When I was a kid, my family and I visited the South of France a lot. It used to be cheap. It hasn't been for years. Probably also why I personally never go. I prefer Eastern Europe it's still cheap af.
>>
>>2747769
Hong Kong does this as well. There are absurd numbers of "tourists" to Hong Kong. Most of them are people in towns next door in mainland China (the same country) hopping over for a few hours.

It's like saying Jersey City has the most foreign tourism on earth. Which might be true when you consider New York a foreign place and tourism is people going home after work or going over for cheap groceries.
>>
>>2748292
Jersey City would have to be ran buy an authoritarian regime for this analogy to be good.
>>
>>2748029
This. I can't wait to go home. America is just the fucking place to be my stomach hurts I'm so homesick bros
>>
>>2747687
their soft power from hundreds of years ago is still paying dividends

Border city residents of Mexico can get a border pass. Tons of people work or attend school on the US side, but live on the Mexican side.
