I've never been to California. This is my assessment from watching youtube walkthroughs of the cities>boring sanitized soulless shit>absolute pure evilIs there anything besides this? Should I even bother visiting? I dreamed of moving there as a kid.
>>2747755>LA>Rodeo Drive>Hollywood Walk of Fame>Long Beach>Venice BeachThose are all kino. You must have been watching footage of Skid Row/South-Central/Inglewood which to be fair are shitholes but some people dig the grimy grittiness.>absolute pure evilPoverty/drug addiction is not "absolute pure evil". Get a grip drama queen.
>>2747773t. evil
Is the wilderness crowded? I have absolutely zero interest in LA anything, I like small happy towns adjacent to limitless wilderness with nobody in them. I do not like the same 5 with crappy two-tone architecture spammed all over the placeI do not like poverty and strife being enabled by apathy Santz Cruz looks *okay* but it is extremely sanitized and boring from the youtube videos I saw Should I try towns like Corona? Mariposa? Grass Valley? I haven't looked into these towns yet. I do like the sun, but also trees. So roughly my aim is a small town with lots and sun and still has redwoods, and isn't some hellhole of despair or consumerism.
>>2747778same 5 stores*Should I just be happy with the four corners region of the U.S.? Is what I desire non-existent in Cali?
>>2747778>Santz Cruz looks *okay* but it is extremely sanitized and boring from the youtube videos I saw It's also kind of seedy. A lot of beach towns were, they attract stoners and homeless people, less so now, with remote work driving up even the shittiest apartments, but they still attract homeless since the beach is free, has showers, etc. >>2747779Just go places you're interested in. I go to national parks every year, I live in CA, go to Colorado every year. Durango is my favorite town in Colorado. Travel more and watch less influencer shit online. >Grass ValleyThe sierra foothills east of Sac are probably the last place in California that still feels like traditional America, culturally, aside from places like Bishop or Yreka which are close to nature but look like really boring places to live and are hours from any major population centers. So Cal is climatically and culturally different from nor cal. So Cal is much more like the southwest, people are much more apathetic to the circumstances of others and more interested in themselves Nor Cal is obnoxiously into the cause du jour, less so in small towns. Nor Cal has more of a 4 season climate wheras so cal is subtropical and weather doesn't vary as much.
>>2747812I guess I'll mention it. I'm a traditional hobo. I walk, and I work. Nature is a big bonus, soulful things are a big bonus. Four corners is pretty great for me, but the job market admittedly is fucking dogshit because I refuse to enter major cities. I'm not into riff raff or those of low morals. Not for me. Every winter while I'm freezing my ass off I consider the California coast. I'm sure it'll pass in a month. I just need to watch more youtube videos of Cali and remind myself that Cali will be a major fucking bummer. I want that climate so fucking bad though, but I know I just know it comes with too many negatives.

>>2747755California is literally one of the prettiest and livable places on earth with the best weather.
I moved out to southern California from the east coast 14 years ago. The good stuff is the weather, hiking, ski resorts, national parks, beaches, food, proximity to fun things to do, cheap to fly anywhere internationally, beautiful scenery, theme parks, great music scene, plenty of opportunities to make money, low crime in the nice areas. The bad, liberal policies towards the homeless, insanely expensive, housing is unaffordable so you'll rent forever, crime is a problem in most larger cities, immigrants take the lower paying jobs and drive up cost of rent, immigrants with leaf blowers.
>>2747773Imperial County is poverty. Skid Row is pure evil.>>2747778The Sierra foothill towns are appealing but overcrowded. Traffic can be horrible. Burn scars can be a vast blight. You need to go farther from the valley cities if you want to get away from crowds. Lake Isabella is nice, on the border of the forest and the desert. I've heard Kernville is great as well. Bishop is really arid but it's out there. NorCal is much better for forests and getting away from the city crowds. It sees all the sun you could want in summer.
>>2747820You should try Alamos in Sonora state, Mexico. It's a cartel infested area so most gringos are too chickenshit to go there anymore, but it used to be really popular.
My sense of California is that it used to be awesome but is now so filled with Mexicans that basically everywhere sucks. You can’t even go hiking without encountering homeless and Mexican drug dealers playing loud and shitty music now. The only way to escape is to have money, and most of the people who have money in California are the worst sort of people who have money and some of the worst people in general.

California is a state larger than many countries. To come on here saying “I hate California” is fucking moronic. You hate mountains? You hate deserts? You hate coastal rainforests? You hate beaches? You hate art? You hate architecture? You hate culture and fashion? Okay, so go to a place with none of those things. Im thinking Iowa is more your speed.@2747773Idiotic post. Doesnt deserve a (You).>>2747778Corona? Are you fucking serious? Why would you go to one of the worst places in the Inland Empire? Like trees? Go to Idyllwild or something at that point. Drive north to Sequoia/Kings Canyon or the Eastern Sierra. Thats world class hiking/mountaineering and the Sierras have the best weather of arguably any major mountain range on Earth.Everyone on this board is typically broke or on a budget. If youve got the cash, you come to LA on vacation to shop (even without being rich you can find deals), eat excellent food and enjoy various cultural/art events and entertainment. The food here is unbelievable, nowhere else in the country can compare except maybe NYC but that is an actual dystopian nightmare hellhole. This shit all costs money.Locals understand the place and where to go without spending a shit ton of money but still getting the best, still enjoying the natural beauty, etc. The most important part of having a good LA trip is having a local to help guide you so you can avoid headaches. Here in California you can run off to incredible natural beauty with ease if thats what you want. If you dont want to drive then dont bother coming here. How do you expect to get from the airport to anywhere? If you want to ride public transit like some homeless fuck thats on you for being poor. If you have your car, make sure you use it, this state is huge, this isnt fucking Belgium or something, there is something here for everyone.
>>2748804This is why nobody likes you guys
>>2748852because they gave a detailed answer and is correct?
>>2748335If you hike anywhere in LA county, you will definitely see a lot of Mexicans, but that literally 1/1000th of the state. The rest is just wide open wilderness. >>2748804This post is absolutely correct. Some planning and a car will go a long way here towards a better trip. You can't just show up and wing it in LA like you could in Europe with no agenda and no cash. Ideally, my recommendation would be to come out in the first week of June. Land in Fresno or Sacramento and rent a car for cheap. I'd hit Yosemite and stay in a Yurt in Curry Village for a few days. I'd do San Francisco, cruise down route 1 to Carmel and Monterrey. If route 1 in Big Sur is open, you'd take that all the way down to Santa Barbara for a day or two at the beach. Then I'd hit Six Flags Magic Mountain for the rollercoasters. I'd skip LA because it's a shithole and stay in Laguna Beach for the final few days and then drop the car off at John Wayne airport and fly home.
>>2748875Your whole lifestyle is bullshit I will just do what I want
>>2748922I have absolutely zero consumer interests at all whatsoeverI will just walk the entire state and enjoy myselfYou're all fags
>>2749004You could do PCT hike if you want to walk the entire state. CA does have a ton of top tier nature but it is also very popular so I'd recommend visiting each region/park/quaint town in their respective off season.
>>2749097Hiking the PCT is actually pretty expensive. You have to mail a lot of supplies ahead. You need a lot of gear and resupply. OP sounds like a literal homeless person. There's not chance he could afford it. He probably could go to LA. That way, when he runs out of cash, he can stand out on the corner and trick and make some cash.
>>2749110>its expensivewalked almost the whole damn U.S. doin nothin but workin some of us are built different
matter of fact just let the thread 404fucking tired of you pussies and your pussy minds
Yo Cali is burning up atm
>>2749115So you're a hobo? Is there like a forum somewhere for homeless people? This is a travel forum. I'm not sure there are many people on the board that would consider living a life as a lot lizard giving head to truckers for meth money as a "vacation". But to each his own I guess.
