Knowing a little bit of Thai goes a long way.

Is getting a cheap apartment in the outskirts of bangkok a good idea? I see you can find ok studios for 200-300usd a month 30-40 minutes on the bts. Anyone have experience with getting one for a year or two? Ive already been twice to Thailand and it would be nice to have a basecamp to travel to Nepal, China and Vietnam.
