I forgot a debit card in a slum ATM while being hustled and bustled today. Shaqueesha from Bank says she gonna send a new one over nomsayin'? I don't believe it. Have you ever even tried to read an Asian street address? It's so over. Do I give it a week, express.. how many attempts.. I hope she puts the hotel name on the envelope or we are so screwed.
>>2749088>ShaqueeshaI honestly believe you when you say that is her name, and not just a hyperbole. I've seen some rather off-color names in my experience with contacting customer support.
>>2749088>Have you ever even tried to read an Asian street address?Yeah, it gets crazy sometimes.Western street address:>1234 Whatever Street, Anytown, XX, Country, 123456East Asian street address:>1234, Unit 5, Floor 6, Something Street, District 14, Golden Dragon River Prefecture, Country, 1234-39ACL7South Asian street address:>Across the street from RCVSLD Computer College, Unit 74 with the tin roof painted orange
>>2749112Well I hung up on all the Indian women immediately and one other black woman.>>2749113It's worse than that. Everything had to be spelled out. And it was a long-form address.
>>2749088Just use your backup bank card, take the hit on the ATM fees and learn these three valuable life lessons.>Always make sure your key is in your pocket before you close a locking door.>Always make sure your passport has been returned to you by the receptionist before checking into your room.>Always put your card back in your wallet before the cash when making an ATM withdrawal.Shipping time gonna be more like a month, anon. Even in America my bank cards take 10-14 days to arrive. How much did you pay for expediting the shipment?
>>2749174The machine spits out cash first. If you use the same machine every day you get a little complacent.$15 and 3-4 days expedited + 1-2 processing time and I have to call Shishana again with my case number if I want a tracking update.
>>2749088I did this too. In my panick to quickly stuff $1000 dollars of 1k baht notes into my little waiste wallet, I hurried away from the atm without removing my card when it pushed it back out. Of course, when I returned 3 minutes later it was gone. O well. Had to get Cucked over and over on $500 withdraw limits on my side bitch debit card and gargle a $7 foreign transaction fee each time for the remainder of the trip.
>>2749185Did either of you fools contact the ATM provider to see if you could get your card back? Chances are the machine takes back the card if it is not retrieved within a certain amount of time.
>>2749088who the fuck even uses debit cards
>>2749233Where have you traveled where you don't need cash at all. Koreans use virtual pay almost everything. You still need cash for the train.
>>2749230Nah I just panicked because I noticed it wasn't in my wallet 4 hours later. I did check the place but didn't see a prominent phone number on the ATM and sometimes the company don't give them back.
>>2749230Cont. 24 hours later.. nobody in this country speaks English but I topped up my SIM card and found my bum friend who acted as translator (he's literally a street bum) and we called the ATM bank and gave the ATM number. Turns out they have an office around the corner and the card might turn up there Monday. However, since I already had Shaneeqa send out a new one, I will have to see they dare reactivate it. That will be the real kicker.
So, did you get your old card back?>>2749181>the machine spits out cash firstExactly my point! Don't put the cash away until you've put your card away. Just pulled cash from a BCEL ATM and the machine took like 15 seconds to give me my card back. I stood there with wallet in one hand and cash in the other until it did. There's no way you can forget your card if you follow this rule.
>>2749088You should've just gave her the hotel name and let her google and copy paste the address. Schwab did that for me when I was in Thailand.
>>2750652Yes but it's cancelled because I called customer service like a good goy. The bank staff were very helpful and just gave it to me with an ID check. Then I had to stand and listen to the national anthem...>>2750936Actually I said that on my previous calls. Nah the stupid fucking bitch didn't even put the hotel name on the address. That name really helps the little brown mailman find stuff since there are no numbers on the street you know. They couldn't even give me a tracking number yet. I doubt they will, these incompetent internet bank work from home fucking faggots are incompetent as shit. They can't even tell me the type of mail service they are using. Useless pieces of shit, really. All they said today was that they saw a new card was manufactured. I'm probably going to have them issue another new one to a mail forwarding service in the US or do that through the app so I don't have to interact with anyone from there, period, and then DHL it to myself for hundreds of dollars so I can have some god damn peace of mind.
>>2750652When you are pulling out an average monthly salary from an ATM in one go, you don't want to stand around conspicuously with in your hand... that's just good manners. I already had one brown man immediately ask if I could change his two 50's for a 100 when he saw me there, then he switched it up and said he wanted it but would transfer it back to me or something. I said enough in local tongue for him to fuck off and rather casually.
>Schwab mailed a new debit card internationallyWhat other financial institutions do this? I lost my fidelity debit card at an ATM a while back and they refused to send it internationally.
>>2750945Same. I ended up having to pay $100 to fedex it myself
>>2750945A lot of banks offer services like this. If a bank has international ATMs they may even offer a service where they tell you to go to a particular ATM and put in a code to withdraw some cash without a card.
>>2751016At this point it makes more sense for OP to forget about the debit card altogether and wire money to himself with Western Union or some similar service going forward.>>2750949That's more along the line of what I'd expect a courier service delivering an item to an international address in a timely manner would cost. >>2750939Not a concern in Thailand. Someone might make a snarky remark about what big wallet man has in mind for later on, that's about it.
>>2751062Not if I'm still traveling for like 5 months in multiple continents
>>2749088Do you have Apple Wallet or android equivalent? For my credit card, I was able to get the info prior to my trip so I didn't have to wait for the card to arrive, just loaded it onto my phone and tapped my phone for transactions. And many small vendors are cool if you just enter your card info manually. That was for Amex though, not sure if you can get debit card info in advance.
Well maybe I was too hard on myself and the wagies. It arrived. The address was missing part of it and she put the lines in the wrong order, the hotel name was spelled wrong, my name was on there twice, but it arrived UPS International Express Saver a week after I placed the call. Too bad I checked out of the hotel and had to do a visa run the afternoon it arrived. I'm rather impressed. And the reception girl is hot for me so she'll keep it safe and texted me.
