It depends on your interests, which you haven't stated.

In a general sense however, there's less tourism. As a consequence there's gonna be fewer escapes for foreigners, and you'd have to do more research, assuming you don't know much Japanese. This is opposed to Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto where you would come across far more English speakers and tourist traps that would forgive your gaijinism to a degree.
