want to go biking in rural china, not super far out like tibet or some 2 person/sq km mongolia place but places like szechuan and shaanxi. Want delicious food and cool landscapes. Anyone been? How hardcore are the police?
I too am interested in this question. I've been looking at google maps and I really want to just wander around one of the redneck coastal provinces like Fujian, by bike or on foot. I've been studying mandarin for about a year and I'm at HSK3 level so I feel like I could finesse my way out of the old "sir, why are you camping in my yard" conversation
>>2750454police won't bother with you unless you are near a border zone or restricted zone or in a very, very small town and need to register at the police station instead of the hotel doing it. if you turn up somewhere small you are more likely to have a local party official follow you to see what you are doing than the police caring.plenty of white people have biked across and around china and even more chinese do it. you can find more on youtube than you will here.

>>2751114what? biked and slept outside? tons. In the UAE I was 200kms west of abu dhabi, 50kms+ from the nearest village and the police came and found me in the desert (after I had just taken my evening poop) and asked if all was okay or if I needed anything...nice people but lots of police
