Looking at going in June with my wife. Would probably rent an aparthotel, and not really venture beyond where the metro goes (unless there's something really good to be found).

How is it for a tourist? I understand there's tourist traps and scammers out there, as in all tourist places, but is it the sort of place where tourists are resented? I'd be respectful, and not piss in the street or big up the USSR.

I want to go and be as non-obnoxious as possible, I don't want it to be like when Brits go on stag dos there and cause havoc. I want the Czechs to like me.

I stayed in Prague for a week right after covid ended and everything had reopened. It was an easygoing city and one of my favorite places. There were a lot of tourists, but I never really saw any scammers, definitely not like the ones in Rome that are every tourist spot. The crowds were really only concentrated in two spots, Charles Bridge and at the astronomical clock. We never waited in line for anything in the city, not at museums, bars or restaurants. Beer was $1.50 everywhere. The food was shockingly good. It's super walkable and we only took a cab maybe twice, once to go to a restaurant on the outskirts called Klášterní šenk and another time when we walked up to the Petrin Tower and didn't feel like walking back. The city is gorgeous and there are little bars all over the city where you can hang out all night and drink the best beer you'll ever try and end up with a bill for $12. The only thing I'd say to avoid would be the tourist trap bars like Black Angels where they try to charge $20 for a cocktail. Definitely go to Mincovna at least once for a meal. That place was flawless.

around the tourist areas there a lot of small convenience stores called "mini marts". avoid them, they charge 3x higher prices. go find a Tesco or lidl/aldi (cant remember which one) or maybe carrefour (i cant really remember which normal grocery store brands are here t b h) for normal prices. some of the metro stations have stores in them too

>but is it the sort of place where tourists are resented?
I don't think this attitude really exists outside of Barcelona
