What are the absolute must see attractions in Japan? Assuming you'll be there for anywhere between 7-21 days.
>>
Konbini are turning to shit now. Increasingly jeeted staff, around a third I would guess have their bins removed/shit stacked in front of them/out of service signs taped on them. ALL the seating konbini are gone too, have to eat my food outside and they stare at me like I just shat in the street, what the fuck do you expect from me yellow cunt. The government seems to have been systematically removing the already next to zero public benches and shit too, the few there are, are always occupied by ojisan and his can of strong zero. Man, Japan going down the shitter epic style. They could at least reassign the make work guardian ojisans with their lightsabers to picking up trash or doing literally anything useful.

>They are relying on me to guide them and show them things
>Going to be fun not travelling alone
>But they only want to go to Tokyo and Osaka which I have been to many times already, they don't have time to go anywhere else
>My whole experience will just be revisiting hotspots and places I've already been to, showing them to the people I am with

So this is why the folks of this country keep saying "can't be helped"

The scene has become an everyday scene, with gaijins crowding or sitting in front of convenience stores, drinking, smoking, and making a lot of noise.
When they leave, bottles, cans, candy bags, and cigarette butts are scattered all over the place.
If you buy something, take it back to the park bench or to your hotel and eat it.

I don't know how much time you've spent in the country and where you went, and I understand the gripe about revisiting the same places over and over again, however, unless you are an ultra weeb and you think walking in the middle of the rice fields in Iwate is "new or non-touristy", then you're not really missing out on anything once you've already been to most of what makes this country unique.
Highly suggest visiting a new country instead, again, unless you're an ultra weeb and you need to go to some place because it was mentioned once in an anime or you just have to go to Nebuta despite having gone to 10 other festivals already.
Nature/outdoor wise, the scenery doesn't change much at all. Kagoshima looks exactly like Aomori. There's nothing as drastic as let's say going from Bryce to Yosemite.

>smoking and drinking in front of konbini

I’ll stop when the locals stop. Saw 40+ Japanese people blazing outside of a 7/11 the other day, must have introduced a street smoking ban in the neighbourhood. As far as cigarette butts go, that is ONE HUNDRED FUCKING PERCENT on the yellow man. Every whitey I see smoking (almost none) takes his butts with them if there is no smoking bin there. Salarymen don’t give a fuck and just toss it.

>just take your trash back to your hotel bro

Ok but I’m travelling by bicycle and camping and almost no campsites will take your trash either, except for a bare handful who also charge for the privilege. All this shit behaviour is firmly squared on the locals, they should set a better example, sorry for eating my chicken nanban on the curb because all seating options have been removed and I’m not a local with a car bro.

Seriously, the garbage can situation in Japan is completely fucked up when everything comes in a zillion layers of packaging. I purchased a Camembert wheel the other day. Outside box of plastic cardboard, cheese wheel inside is contained in a rigid plastic packaging with removable soft plastic lid, cheese wheel inside THAT is also contained within a soft plastic wrapping. Foreigners are not to blame, when I cycle down a rural road with trash dumped all down the side for dozens of kilometres or a beach loaded with plastic garbage it’s pretty fucking obvious it’s not foreigners.

>take it to the park bench

WHAT FUCKING PARK BENCH BRO HAVE YOU EVEN BEEN HERE
>>

I don't have a problem with going to the same cities again. I've been through all of Tokyo for weeks, explored all of Osaka on foot. I would happily go there again, I know I won't be bored. The downer is that outside of those places I've only had day trips to nearby cities and towns without much time to explore (for example I haven't been any further west/south than Himeji), and I won't have a chance to do that in this trip.
>>
>>2813904
Wanna go to japan in fall 2026 and see the momiji. How are the crowds then
>>
>>2813944
I'm curious to know how you would answer >>2813914 . Also are the grey dots on your map places you've visited?
>>
>>2813904
Going to Japan for the first time in two weeks and while the question may be ridiculous, I still have to ask whether wearing a tank top as a guy is considered as impossible behaviour nowadays. I remember the Japanese being a bit upset over inappropriate clothing but I still wonder whether guys can get away with it without being seen as disrespectful

Also, what are the top non-famous food places in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto for all you guys? I hate going to the places which are filled with tourists and expensive as fuck while providing poor quality
>>
>>2813958
Nobody will even look at you. It will be hot as hell and everyone will be wearing t-shirts. Just don't wear a tank top to a classy establishment where people dress nicely. Goes without saying.
>>
I think it's time we stop posting JR Rail Pass prices in the OP. No one is using it anymore
>>
>>2813914
Daisetsuzan national park and Koyasan are the two standout experiences for me.
>>
>>2813960
Was hoping for that to be the case. Are there any Japanese who are wearing tank tops outside?
Even here in Europe, I never wear short stuff in better establishments but when I see it being hotter than 30 degrees over there, I get immediate flashbacks to Vietnam last year where I would have ran around with wet-ass clothes all day had it not been for tanks

>>2813962
Just saw a video today saying it shouldn't be used anymore because of a price increase. That's still not a recommendation I take it?
>>
Should I be happy that normies cannot find bins because they are in the heart of normie overtouristed areas at peak times? Or are anons just that bad at finding the bins that really do exist?

If you must, throw it in the bin at the next konbini and buy another drink/melonpan as a peace offering. Consume that on the spot to break the cycle. If the konbini is overflowing with rubbish then reconsider your location or gb2facebook.

tl;dr
>popular places are popular for a reason
>I can only give you a generic answer for a generic question
>my must see is a reflection of myself, your must sees will be different
They're all places I've been to, I think if you zoom out that's just what happens depending on the color of the actual icon itself.
To answer a generic question, I can only provide a generic answer. Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto. They're popular for a reason and they're all very accessible both logistically and in the sense of being a foreigner who can't speak the language.
Obviously things can be more detailed if you provided a more detailed question. For example if you're a weeb and into Evangelion then there's Hakone, that tank shit is in Ibaraki, and so on.
Personally, I am a big pervert so the top of my list includes places where exhibitionists are common, starting from tame mixed onsens where coverings/towels are not allowed all the way to infamous public toilets where you might find a woman tied up and blindfolded spread eagle.
Beyond that, I like the outdoors.
>ski
Hakuba/Appi/Niseko on a random weekday, early in the morning, or a not so popular/not accessible ski resort somewhere in Tohoku if I want to practice.
>hikes
Kamikochi is the closest I can find to Yosemite, hikes around the valley provides some nice views.
>diving
Naha is ok. I prefer Amami or Miyako.
As you can see, a lot of the things I mentioned are all popular or well known. I come back to the point I made earlier where certain places are popular because they're really just that good. If you only have a limited amount of time, there's absolutely nothing wrong with sticking to the popular and well known places.
Finally, Japan is an open book. There's no secret epic spot for locals only, and if there were any, information will be kept hidden. I personally wouldn't name drop my home ski resort because there's barely anyone there and I have a season pass, the last thing I want is more people chopping up the snow.

Anon you can't say this and not provide information aobut those places. Lemme know about the mixed onsens and the other places. I found an hotel that has a mixed onsen with towels but I found nothing else apart from that.

Anon from a previous thread that had booked 5 nights at cerulean in shibuya to start
>Tokyo 6(Shinjuku),7(Shibuya/Harajuku),8(Ueno Akiba),9(Ginza Odaiba)
Was this meant to mean staying in these places one night or should these are where to spend each day? I had started considering changing from staying in Shibuya as i see so many posts on instagram about it being a mistake.
>>
>>2813885
>can you give me more info anon, you are leaving the mt fuji area and need to be back at Harajuku station by 7PM?
Yes that's correct. I can give more info....but I don't know what else to mention. I do have a resevered bus from Kawaguchiko station to Shinjuku, but I can obviously cancel that.
>The hakone loop takes around 5-6 hours, but its two hours away(and a little awkward to get to) from Kawaguchiko. I think its probably possible if you get up early and leave from Kowakudani/Gora Station by 4/5 pm, in fact if you get to Hakone by 10am you could be in tokyo early
You mean 4/5 am? Do the Fujikyu busses even run that early (let alone the one to Gotemba). If it takes two hours, then maybe I can leave around 9/10am ish and get to the area by 11am/noon I suppose. But even then it isn't like I'm interested in EVERYTHING on that Hakone Loop, but I am interested in that Glass Musuem, but that's out of the Hakone loop and kinda off the beaten pass.

I already did book one, i booked the one in osaka through booking, maybe i should just cancel and redo through there. Im a bit confused though because the thing that got added to my google calendar from there email had the dates 14-18 instead of 13-17 like i booked (and the email shows)

Weird one mate, probably nothing but worth getting in touch with customer service just to double check
>>
>>2814070
Yeah maybe ill do it, i was just assuming it was some stupidness with trying to convert around times but theres no way the booking isnt in the local time

So far i have shibuya 6th-11th booked, then kyoto 11th-14th, and osaka 14th-17th. I had gone back and forth on staying in Kobe but i think at this point i would just go there for a day or half day while in osaka. I was pretty much. Should i go back to Tokyo for the remaining nights and stay somewhere quiet? I had been considering staying in akasaka but thats pretty close to where im staying at the start so thinking maybe Ueno (for the easy access back to Narita) or Asakusa. There's an APA hotel thats across the street from the skyliner station which would be nice. Or something else in that area, any other suggestions would be good. Leaving flight on the 20th isnt until a bit after 4pm but assume i need to get to narita like 3 hours early and its more or less 1+ hour from tokyo so dont have much time to do anything that day. I had been planning on getting another checked suitcase near the end of my trip and trying to do buying of stuff in those last few days but i'm not sure if that will actually work out, may end up needing to buy that early on.

It took me about 2 days to figure out the best way to deal with trash was to walk into a konbini and ask "すみません、ゴミ箱がありますか?" I think most store clerks would smile and take your garbage, it makes it clear you don't want to litter. They literally walk out into the street and pick up trash if it gets dropped anywhere near their store.

Blacks themselves, let alone Africans, are scarce in Japan. Perhaps you got that impression from seeing Nigerian touts in Roppongi and Takeshita-dori.
And you probably got the impression that there are many Indians because of the large number of Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, and other South Asian-owned stores in the shopping streets of Ueno and Okachimachi. Many Indians live in Minami-Kasai, where no foreign tourists stop by.

Were they the nigger African touts? Literally Kabukicho and Shinjuku are the shitholes of Tokyo. I only visited once on my sole trip to Japan and just by exiting Shinjuku station you start to see all the Negroes around the area.
>>
What would happen to a tourist if he KO'd a black tout?
>>
>>2814472
It’s a shithole but only because its negatives have gotten too extreme and especially being a foreigner you stick out so hard you just get easily targeted. This is only the case for Kabukicho. There is still an attractive aesthetic in Kabukicho that makes it worth at least seeing.
Shinjuku honestly is not bad, as I like to use it to stay centrally in Tokyo.

To reach Mt. Takao by train, take the Keio Line express bound for Takaoyamaguchi from Shinjuku, and you will arrive at Takaoyamaguchi Station in 50 minutes without changing trains. In front of the station are the entrances to the mountain trails, the ropeway, and the cable car station.
If you take the express bound for Keio-Hachioji, you will need to transfer to the train bound for Takaoyamaguchi at Kitano. If you try to get to Takaoyamaguchi Station by local train, it will take 90 minutes, so wait for the limited express train.
Unlike JR trains, express trains on the Keio Line do not charge an express fare, so there is no advantage to using a local train. If you are going by JR, change trains at Takao Station on the Chuo Line to the Keio Line's Takao Yamaguchi Station.

Many people insist on going to Hakone, Kawaguchiko, or Nikko on a day trip from Tokyo, but these are places where Japanese people make several day trips.
From Tokyo, If you were to take a day trip away, Kamakura, Mt. Takao, or Chichibu would be appropriate. Or you could take the Sobu Rapid Line to Chiba and ride the Chiba Urban Monorail, which functions as a public transportation system.
There are zoos and parks along the monorail line, and if you transfer to the Keiyo Line to Kaihin-Makuhari, you will find many commercial and amusement facilities.

My first ever Japan trip is drawing to a close. I am charmed by an endlessly fascinating country, that manages to maintain a first world level of service while yet still being exotic and culturally rich.
Japanese women are the cutest of all the Asian countries and I don't regret nutting in a jap girl's mouth so she could keep some White cum as a memento.

Kyoto is great, however we have had to repeatedly step into restaurants, see the brown-skinned waiters and owners, and step out to avoid establishments NOT run by jeets. On Monday once, on Tuesday twice. Every time we are glad to have done this as we end up at authentic local Japanese-run restaurants with good food and service and affordable prices
also I feel like it isn't talked about enough how pretty this city is at night - the Japanese time zone gives you sunsets at 5 or 6pm but the night lights make up for it in the Gion district of Kyoto at least

Seeing all the gaijin in Tokyo, for example, it is possible Japan may be the last refuge of the White man.

I'll be going back next November, I'll be spending a few days in Tokyo before flying home, is it worth it to daytrip and stay overnight near Mt Fuji? Or have all the NPCs ruined it forever?

I'm confused about this and information out there doesn't seem to be very helpful. When I arrive in Japan, I'm planning on withdrawing about 400.000 yen, since I have to pay my hotel with cash. However, there seems to be limits on how much you can withdrawal? Does the ATM lock your card and prevent it from withdrawing more? How do anons here usually do it?

Also, is it true I shouldn't use the ATMs in the airport (Narita) and instead wait for a konbini?

Fellatio is a required service in soapland and optional in fashion health.
Kyoto is very popular among East Asians, so there are many hotels and private accommodations for them.
Normally, foreigners are not granted work visas for customer service and hotel work, so there are few jeet employees.
The number of Indian restaurants is not particularly large as they are on the same level as French and Italian restaurants.

Another dumb faggot who gets his knowledge of Japan from anime here.

Do phones work differently in Japan?

This is a serious question. Where I'm from, and in other countries I've been in, phone calls and text messages (also known as SMS) are tied to your phone number.
In Japan, it appears that they have a separate system for texting. So they still need a phone number to make calls, but then they have an email address for texting.

Is that actually accurate? Moreover, Japanese seem to refer to texting as "mailing" instead, which makes sense if that's the case.

With the advent of smartphones, I realize my question may sound extra confusing, as most contemporary phones can now do both texting AND emailing, but to me it looks like Japan has been emailing before smartphones even existed.
For the record, I am not at all talking about third-party apps that do voice calls and texting (such as LINE, WhatsApp, etc.).
>>
>>2815137
Facts. We were there for 10 minutes. But the girls wanted to go and they drank for free, so they apologized by getting the next round in the next place at least. Azumaya had the best overall vibes, mostly Japanese and everyone was there for the music. I would do bar bridge on a busier night, futuristic, a nice counter to mingle at, and the views really made me feel like I was in Tokyo.
>>
>>2815140
>Do phones work differently in Japan?
tl;dr no.

Mail, short mail, short message = text message, SMS. People on iPhones may treat iMessage just as your standard SMS because they don't know any better.
Phone calls and SMS are tied to your number, but when getting a phone and a mobile plan from a big company (not from a small MVNO), you will also be given an email address tied to that service provider. More often than not, since the average person has no clue about tech and one more reason* I will provide later, this email ends up being their iCloud email and their iMessage send-from address.
LINE is the only thing that matters. Sometimes other SNS/social network methods, primarily Instagram or Kakao. Outside of work and official matters, I have never received an email from anyone in my 5 years of living here.

*there are cases where a service will only accept an email if the domain is from a big service provider, the most infamous one being LINE, where you are limited to a slightly restricted account unless you get verified, and providing this email is the easiest way of getting verified.

Tokyo has a well-developed public transportation system, so you will have no problem staying anywhere in the city.
There is no problem in the suburbs of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba, and Saitama areas, but the morning and evening commuting hours are very crowded, so avoid taking the train during these hours on weekdays.

Going to Japan in 2 weeks for 2 weeks. Currently have 5 nights in Tokyo (Shibuya hotel), 3 nights in Kyoto, then 3 nights in Osaka booked. I have 3 more nights but not sure where i should spend them. Should i do one or two nights in Hakone (so far Hakone Kyuan looks pretty nice), go back to tokyo and stay in Ueno or similar area, or something else? I'm not sure how worth it a ryokan will be if its going to be as hot as im anticipating, soaking in water might be the last thing youd want to do. I'm thinking of doing the last night in Narita, my flight out isnt until ~4pm but then i dont have to dedicate any time to getting to the airport and have heard Narita is fairly nice to stay in. Any suggestions on how and where to spend the last 3 nights / 4 days would be appreciated.

Can we talk about higher-end practical gifts? What I focused on so far are green teas, incense sticks, alcohol. For teas and alcohol you can buy fresh/local and transport in personal luggage, getting niche things which are not available outside the country or more expensive if you orde online. Incense sticks I found interesting fusion ones where they order frankincense from middle east/africa and put that on the classic resin wood. Don't have any relatives or friends interested in weebshit so putting that aside for now.

delusional retard. There are steak restaurants, Japanese wagyu restaurants, staffed by jeets all over Kyoto right now. I will even name drop them you coping autistic:

> Wagyu Beef Thick Steak Sandwich, Cafe & Bar Benikoumori (605-0084 Kyoto): jeet at the counter and attracted jeets in the clientele as well
and I can't find the other one on google maps but just get back to Hanamikoji-dori street and keep walking away from the Yasuka shrine and on the right side of the street you'll find a restaurant with signage beside a staircase and a late-20s pajeeta in perfect American English comes out to greet you and try to hustle you into her establishment

i think 1 night is good enough for a 2 week trip(it can also be a place where you splurge on accommodation). you can do the hakone loop, and then do the onsen + kaiseki dinner and head to the next destination in the morning.

kobe also has an onsen town its called Arima, its nice too, could also do that. personally i'd pick Hakone because the location is very unique for the world(its a volcano with steam vents coming out of the ground) and the water at the onsens is volcanic water
>>
>>2815468
Any particular recommendations for where in hakone or pretty much whatever is available? Might end up staying the last 2 nights in ueno instead of last in narita if I do just the 1 in a ryokan since 3 nights back to back in different hotels seems like too much hassle
>>
>>2815471
staying near Gora or Kowakudani station is not a bad idea, because its close to the hakone ropeway and Hakone-Yumoto Station. if you get a ryokan further on the loop you will have to take your bags with you around the circuit back to Hakone-Yumoto / Odawara Station. This could add a bit of time, but if youre not in a huge rush its not a big deal. other than that if your hotel is not close to any restaurants and you didnt book a Hotel dinner option you might have to transit/taxi to a restaurant. so location does matter a bit
>>
>>2814625
Private railways are complicated, as each company may charge a fee or no fee for express service. Even the same railroad company may operate both paid and free limited express services, or only certain cars may be charged.
Basically, long-seat cars of major urban private railway companies do not require express fare, while cross-seat cars do.
>>

If you go to Hiroshima, you should also go to Onomichi and Shimanami Kaido. A day trip is a waste of time.
>>
>>2815444
Overnight in Narita. Take a walk around Naritasan Shinshoji Temple and its approach to the temple, and eat the famous eel. You may also visit Sawara and Ushiori.
If you ask your hotel to arrange for your luggage to be picked up at the Kuroneko counter at the airport, you can go to the airport empty-handed.

sounds like tech? I got laid off and know japan is full of low-mid pay (like $5-6k/month type stuff) jobs locked behind conversational japanese.

Okay I know pets aren't really as big of a thing in japan but I checked airbnb and just putting on the pet filter brought the listings from over 1000 to just under 50. I remember seeing lots of people with them in japan do they just own their own house or something?

Nigerian bar owners in Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Roppongi contact the Nigerian Embassy in Japan when they are caught by the police.
The Nigerian embassy, tamed by the Nigerians in Japan, immediately contacts the home government. The Nigerian government, through diplomatic channels, protested to the Japanese government, claiming serious racial discrimination.
The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked the National Police Agency (NPA) not to cause any trouble. The National Police Agency, in response to this request, instructs the competent police station to handle the matter amicably.
The local police department forgoes prosecution and releases them with only an admonition. A sense of resignation prevails among the police officers in the field that there is no use in arresting them.

It was actually promptly returned, not even 30mins after my drunk ass dropped it, to the metro's central lost and found office (which I went to btw), but they didn't realize it was mine cause I have a middle name and I'm guessing they fucked up while writing it up in their system, so all the times I went to the police they were just looking up the wrong name and obviously nothing came up. They had it at the metro station for like a week and then they handed it over to the nearby police lost and found, that's where I had to go get it.

Retarded question, but why would anyone want to use the tax free coupon for Bic Camera...or any electronic specifically? I would think that if you do buy something from Bic, it is because you forgot something pretty urgent like missing a micro SD card or a battery bank. I can't imagine why would anyone want to buy anything at a Bic Camera, bother to deal with the tax free process and then leave it in the tax free bag

In the last couple of years Japan has been trying to reduce their AC usage under the guise of some environment bullshit but you just know it's just some stupid kikes wanting to save money at the expense of the plebs. It's doubly retarded considering that summers now are getting worse and worse every year. But looking for logic in anything that Japan does is all but futile.

(Then winter comes and of course heating is on full blast boiling mode everywhere because god forbid grandma feels anything but toasty for 5 seconds, environment be damned)

A lot of anons asking about dating/cooming. I posted this in /pol/ but they're all hopeless retards.

Yes, white guys do quite well in Japan. However, the same general rule applies - if you can't get laid here, you likely won't get laid there. However, prostitution is legal there if you're that desperate.

I was a zogbot stationed at Yokota. If you're not a fat redditor and take care of yourself and you'll clean up. Did absolutely phenomenal over there. Also, the Japanese tradwide is a meme. Japanese women will cheat at the drop of a hat, so don't marry them. They're also quite materialistic. They'll expect to be in control of your finances, and they're very focused on fashion and money.

In Japanese society, if you're a woman and not settled down by your late 20s it's seen as shameful. This leads to a lot of quiet desperation out of women. Suicide rate is insane over there.

The Japanese are also truly a conundrum. Societally, it IS looked down upon to date and marry non-Japanese. Yes, even western white men, which are generally seen as the S-tier of foreigners (you can be mad about it, pajeet, it's true), is still not seen as a good thing. This leads to my next point:

Japanese women generally dislike Japanese men. Japanese men, despite being socially awkward workaholics, tend to treat their women like shit. In the US if there was this relationship dynamic it would likely end in divorce. They like western guys for this reason. We are a little more romantic. We get to skip their autistic courting rituals. It's easier on the dating apps there which actually don't suck. Japanese women would rather just meet you in your apartment and let you creampie them than take you out on a date where she'll be seen by other Japanese and judged by them, even though they all do the same fucking thing.

There's a non-zero possibility that I have deposited some Elliot Rogers all around western Tokyo.

That's not a "random rural town". There's an SMBC Prestia(used to be CITI bank, now "SMBC" but focused on foreigner clients, I know because I have an account with them) branch, which means it's the middle of Tokyo.
This is what a "random rural town" looks like and they all look the same.
Do small streets with a row of Cherry Blossom trees exist here? Yes, they exist in every single town. In fact you get bored of them because they're everywhere in the country side.

Point I'm trying to make is any town looks like this during the right season, and I am being literal when I say any town - just search for 桜街道 near you.
Whether or not that town has anything else you that might enjoy is a different story, but given that this is an anime underwear 3d printing website, I'm sure incelwalking at 0100 in the middle of nowhere is considered true(tm) Japanese Empire off the beaten path "I'm not your typical tourist" traveler experience.

Third time in Tokyo, with some new people. Looking for some thoughts on my rough itinerary.
Day 1: I usually do Shibuya+Shinjuku but while I like Shibuya I am not a fan Shinjuku. Think I will do just Shibuya at a leisurely pace.
Day 2: Never been to Ikebukuro, interested in the anime stuff even if it's largely female oriented. There's also a festival on 28th apparently.
Day 3: Asakusa I'll do quickly with my friends, then spend a while in Akiba, probably do a S;G pilgrimage with them.
Day 4: I've got no clue what to do. Thinking about maybe going to Hanno for a bit of nature/Yama no Susume, but looking for recommendations.
Day 5: One night trip to Hakone, hopefully see Fuji if weather is good, enjoy the onsen.
Day 6: Group splits up, I commute back to Tokyo solo, probably just take it easy. Open to recs.
Day 7: Head to Kamakura as I've never been.
Day 8: On the fence about Yokohama, I've never been but not sure how interesting it will be. Maybe try to get to Mogra for matrix in the evening.

My flight will be arriving at 22:00 in December at Haneda. I don't know how long customs might be, nor do I know how much time I'd have to check into an actual hotel. should I opt to book a hotel at the airport for the night? Or get raped by taxi fees trying to reach a proper hotel.
>>
>>2816692
>how long customs might be
It various. Last May it took me like 2 hours, but I think they redid some processes and when I got to the country back on the 20th. It took me like 20 minutes.
>how much time I'd have to check into an actual hotel
Most hotels have a 24 hour desk
>should I opt to book a hotel at the airport for the night? Or get raped by taxi fees trying to reach a proper hotel.
Depends on what is your plan for your trip. If your entire trip is in the center of Tokyo, then I suggest taking it up the ass and pay the taxi fee because the alternative is to get spitroasted by paying for just one night at the nearby hotel and the miserable experience of dragging your luggage to the next hotel (or piss more money on airporter to forward luggage to another hotel which is like changing one dildo for another )

Also, I don't know where you're coming from, but you sure you don't want to include potential winter storm delays into your plan?

Might have made an error here lads
Got 3 days to myself before my gf arrives in Tokyo, we're staying together in Ueno. As it's easy to get from the airport I figured I'd stay in an APA in Ueno and then when she gets here we'd switch hotels. Wondering now if I should have gone somewhere else.

Also we want to do some 'adult' stuff - go to a love hotel, sex shops, burlesque etc but that stuff isn't covered by the 'degeneracy' section of the OP, anyone got any good resources beyond >Reddit on stuff to see?

APA has been fine for me, if you read “horror” stories its just redditors seething because the owner is openly Japanese Nationalist and includes pamphlets in the rooms (short stories and manga) but theyre tucked away with all the other random docs you find in hotel rooms, not very apparent.

the actual only thing I dont like about APA is check out is 10 AM.

It can be just the fact that a foreigner was looking at weeb shit, maybe it was novel to her.
I have a weeb friend who's obsessed with some anime character, if I saw a girl staring at a figurine of that character, I think a pic of that would elicit quite a reaction from my friend so I'd feel compelled to take it and share it with him. Not particularly to laugh at her mind you but just for the weirdness of the situation.
Not that I'd actually take pics of people, and I'm not saying she did it for the same reasons, my sister is quite a bitch who'd take pics of balding guys to laugh in her group chat so I assume women are more likely to do that, but I'm just putting the possibility out there.

This time Nigeria went too far by lying to Nigerians that Japan was handing out special visas and giving everybody free healthcare and houses, that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had to immediately issue a statement.

Facts Regarding the “JICA Africa Hometown” August 25, 2025

>Regarding the “JICA Africa Hometown” announced by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at the TICAD 9, there have been reports and statements both domestically and internationally that contain information contrary to the facts. The facts regarding this matter are as follows:

>At the TICAD 9, JICA announced the launch of the “JICA Africa Hometown”, which aims to strengthen exchanges between African countries and Japanese local governments based on the experience gained through its previous projects. Under this program, four cities in Japan are designated as “home towns” for four African countries.

>Under this program, JICA plans to promote exchanges between the four Japanese cities and the four African countries through various activities, including the organization of exchange events involving JICA overseas cooperation volunteers.

>On the other hand, there are no plans to take measures to promote the acceptance of immigrants or issue special visas for residents of African countries, and the series of reports and announcements concerning such measures are not true.

>The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will continue to make efforts to ensure that appropriate reporting and statements regarding this matter are carried out.

Shinjuku Ni-chome is the gay neighbourhood where you can find drag shows and other kinky things

like another anon said theres pop life sex store in akiba

theres the Muscle Girls bar in Ikebukuro where the girls will slap you for 5 dollars and squeeze a pineapple into your mouth. theres probably a a male version but not sure where

in shinjuku theres the 27 Kissa Club that puts on shows, covers like 20-30 bucks https://www.instagram.com/reel/C40LemjS2Iy/

in shibuya theres Wild 1 another adult store

I intend on staying in Kyoto for ~5 months on a holiday working visa. When applying for the visa, should I just put Kyoto on the itinerary or should I fluff it up with day trips and weekends in the surrounding area? I don't really have anything planned yet, but I have some ideas.

This is a long shot, but thought I'd ask anyway since I've seen some great suggestions and insight posted here in the past.

I'll be visiting Kanazawa on the first week of October and will eventually head to Kyoto for the weekend. Since I'm in that area, I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on places to visit in between those places before I go to Kyoto. I'm going to try and visit Shirakawa while I'm there, and though it's not between Kanazawa and Kyoto I've also already visited Takayama, Matsumoto, and Nagano.

Thanks in advance!

march is not tourist season so you shouldn't have to worry about booking generic things in advance. HOWEVER there are a few exceptions like visiting studio Ghibli museum in Tokyo or the Nintendo HQ in Kyoto where you need to book like a month in advance.

>>2817282
the currency exchange shops at Nakano broadway market have good rates, at least for CAD they did.
ATMs are better than the automated exchanges by tourist traps but still not that good.
I'll tell you it in numbers. ~105 JPY to 1 CAD was the current exchange rate when I visited. As I am exchanging CAD more JPY means a better and fairer rate, obviously
> Nakano exchange shops: got ~102 JPY no haggling needed + a candy
> Shibuya exchange shop: would not budge above 100 JPY even when I offered to exchange like a thousand bucks
> ATM: 96 JPY for 1 CAD
> automated currency exchange machine by Nijo castle ticket booth: 92 JPY

there is nothing in that figure that suggests March is some packed tourist month. August 2022 saw more overseas tourists than March 2022, August 2023 saw more overseas tourists than March 2023, 2024 the figures are roughly flatlined.

Why does Okinawa consistently get the shit end of the stick from the mainland when its;

it basically took my country 10 years to catch up with Japan to pay for things like train/bus tickets with your phone and IC chip and have ATM's with instant cash deposit/withdrawals which is what Japan already had 15 years ago when I was last there, its now on par with what I experienced in Japan all those years back (still no vending machines with hot soup though at every corner). I'm wondering now how far in the future are the Japanese living since I was there? because I just found out that internet cafe's konbinis and super markets have become completely unmanned in Japan.

I'm going in November for 18 days, I'm doing the meme golden triangle (arrival at Tokyo then Kyoto 4 days, Osaka 5, Nagoya 2, Tokyo 7). Since this is my second trip, and I spent 12 days in Tokyo last time, I was planning to spend half of more of my in Tokyo exploring nearby cities. I was planning my full 4 days in Kyoto with the usual Nara trip but... as far as I heard Kyoto is full of tourists. Venice style, you can't see shit. I'm Italian, and if there is a thing I hate the most is going to Venice on weekends and holidays. done once, will never do that shit again. So, I was planning. Should I spend two of my days in Kyoto and go to nearby cities? if so, what do you recommend?
>>
My itinerary is complete for the most part.
2nd trip to Japan, did the usual Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Kyoto last time.

My itinerary is:
-2 days Tokyo
-2 days Osaka
-Awaji Island (Pick up car)
-Takamatsu
-2 days Saijo & Niihama (two festivals!)
-Setonaikai National Park Island area
-Matsuyama
-Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park
-Kochi
-Muroto
-Tsurugisan Quasi-National Park area
- Kobe (drop car off)
-Tokyo
-Leave :(

Any Shikoku boys have any advice I'm all ears. Its stop and go but I'm excited. I'm seeing some friends who live in Tokyo and Osaka so nice start and end to a more nature focused trip.

I'm going to Japan in October. Is there literally anything cool to do in Kabukicho? I visited while on a tour in 2017 and it was really tame (although it wasn't nighttime). We were only there to do the weird Robot Restaurant, which I hear isn't around anymore.

I've heard from the Trash Taste Podcast that there are some cool things in Kabukicho, but you REALLY need to know what they are ahead of time, because the chances of stumbling across them naturally are basically zero. Are there any cool restaurants, stores, etc that are worth doing there, or should my group just walk through for the vibes and GTFO ASAP?

If I muster up the courage I MIGHT visit a trustworthy soapland alone one night, but so far my group has nothing planned for the area.
>>
>>2818159
There's no hidden gems there. Anything worth seeing is already well known/highly reviewed/full of people. I would avoid the soaplands, they get high gaijin traffic and the girls are often not Japanese.

it was extremely hot but still worth going up to the onsen. a lot of tourists in some spots but nothing too bad. not too many browns or blacks. indians are in urban konbinis yeah but probably overblown. literally saw none anywhere else.

Developed countries other than the U.S. can stay in Japan for a year or two on the working holiday visa and work.

>you are a dirty jeet, I know you know basic english.

this drove me fucking mad when i was doing my solo trip last year, the smug aura those subhuman retards come off with when they pretend not to understand you is one of the most aggrevating thing ive ever dealt with

BIG HEADS UP for people getting Plane tickets through Japan Airlines:
Getting them early may not be the best idea. I'm going in October and got my plane tickets back in April. It was $1400 USD per person. My friends got their tix this month and literally paid HALF that, at around $700-800 USD. My theory is that the particular flights we picked weren't filling up fast enough, so they reduced the prices, but who knows? I looked and according to their FAQ, you're not allowed to get a partial refund on your tickets once they're purchased, even if the price goes down after you've bought them. I'm not too upset about it because I was prepared to pay that initial amount, but what a fucking bummer.

Thanks for the tips. With the exception of Tokyo DisneySea, we have barely anything concrete planned for anything in Tokyo. I've mostly just planned out my Osaka/Kyoto half of the trip. So far the only plan is to pick a neighborhood and spend a day or half-day exploring it. Places like Akihabara, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Harajuku, Odaiba, etc. We're trying to keep our plans light and not micromanage our time every day.

My friends and I are mostly just looking to browse shops, eat at restaurants, walk around parks, and see the sights in general. Enjoy some nightlife too. Maybe take a day trip to some nature-y areas. We're not so much into ticketed experiences. When we took the tour last time, we felt really limited as to what we could see. Being able to just walk around any given area with no time limit is going to be huge for us, so I think we'll be easily entertained by just exploring.

Seems you've already been everywhere I'd suggest.
Lake Biwa is on the way, could hit that up if going straight Kanazawa->Kyoto
Nagoya is an easy one if you take a bus to Shirakawa from Kanazawa.

Airbnb if multiple people. Hotel is pretty good alone

This is why you can buy refundable tickets. Then refund and buy the cheaper tickets if it goes lower.

When you arrive in Japan, the first thing you should do is get a transportation IC card. It's the key to making your travel incredibly smooth and hassle-free.
If you're flying into Narita or Haneda, look for Suica or PASMO. If you land in Osaka, you'll want an ICOCA card.

Here's why they're so useful:

No More Ticket Machines: Forget fumbling with ticket machines for every single ride. Just tap your card on the reader at the train station gates and on buses. The fare is automatically deducted. It's a huge time-saver

They Work Almost Everywhere: You can use your card on trains, subways, and buses in all major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. Even better, you can often use a Tokyo-based Suica in Osaka and vice versa.

More Than Just Transit: The cards also work for small purchases. You'll find you can pay with your IC card at convenience stores, vending machines, and even some restaurants and shops.

You can buy and charge your card at any train station. and recharge at any convenience store in Japan.

P.S. Sales of bearer IC cards have resumed in March 2025.

>Narita or Haneda, look for Suica or PASMO. If you land in Osaka, you'll want an ICOCA card.
Whichever you choose however is irrelevant in the larger picture as they are interchangeable with eachother and whatever card is used locally in the cities you got to, excluding Hiroshima trams and some cities in Kyushu

Nowadays McDonalds Japan accepts debit/credit cards in the self-order kiosks, but back in 2023 it was extremely surreal looking at the payment options
Unlike in most EU countries where you can print an order receipt and take it to the cashier to pay in cash, in Japan back then the machines only took Japanese cash cards or an IC card
I had to pay with my fucking bus money for my 2AM cravings. You can barely pay a bus ride in my city with the bus pass, but in Japan you can pay your Goddamn shoppings and food with one
>>
>>2818941
Make sure you got your money solved, when I reached japan I couldn't pay my hotel because my card was blocked. I called them and they said they sent a code to my phone but I wasn't using my sim card but a different one with a better roaming plan so I couldn't access it. (Their application also required a code sent to the phone...) It took answering them questions for like 10-15 minutes to finally unblock it. "Name date of birth ID, How much money do you remember having on your card, penis size" and other bullshit so they know I'm not a scammer or something.

Well, then
>>
>Friend will land at narita afternoon
>Has a domestic flight to sapporo a few hours later from haneda
>Wants to buy an IC card from sapporo because "the design is cooler." instead of anywhere tokyo.
So how bad is his experience gonna be on the bus from narita to haneda airport?
>>
>>2818997
Doesn't matter because your friend should be getting a direct bus transfer from Narita to Haneda. Reservation/tickets can be bought online or at Narita itself and can be paid for by cash or card.
>>
I'm gonna be studying at a Japanese university for a year, I prepared for months but now that I'm almost there I'm suddenly scared and anxious, what do I do?
>>
>>2818997
It takes about an hour to get from Narita to Haneda if it is not crowded, which is faster than going to Shinjuku or Shibuya, and there is no reason why buses should be less comfortable than limousine buses going to Shinjuku or Shibuya.
But your friend would have had an easier time if he had transferred at Narita to a plane bound for Shin-Chitose (Sapporo).

dont be and just realize locals will just assume you dont speak any japanese even if you speak some straight to their faces
also be wary of koreans / chinks working at a lot of places speaking bad japanese themselves. they too will make you feel stupid because their japanese sucks as well

Where would I get those? Japan Airlines doesn't seem to have that option. I fly out of the USA. It's too late for this trip, but it'd be nice to know.

I almost booked via American Airlines, which basically gets you a Japan Airlines flight, but it didn't allow me to pick which seats I wanted, so I figured I would buy directly from JAL.

Visit the onsen (Keio Takaosan Onsen Gokurakuyu) after the hike. It's amazing and has both mineral as well as carbonated baths.
