Cups edition

>What is this thread? Why are there two generals?
/rcg/ was initially created as a way for the roller coaster enthusiasts on here to discuss all things roller coasters and theme parks. While roller coasters are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other theme parks, their rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /tpg/ comes in.
>Can I talk about Disney/Universal parks in this thread?
Absolutely! Disney/Universal discussion of all sorts including rides/resorts/dining/trip planning is OK.

For a Disney Adult that would probably be an honor. I learned today that The Haunted Mansion is one of the most popular places in the world for people to spill their ashes. It’s so common they even have a code for it, they call it “Code Grandma.” To the Disney Adult, the supreme honor in life is to have your body burnt and then spilled onto a children’s ride, only to then be vacuumed up by a severely stoned 16 year old
>>
>>2867268
It really is. I've ridden several wild river gorge rides but you're unlikely to get completely drenched on any of them, except Popeye's, where it's all but inevitable.

I also wondered why both water rides were walk-ons last Sunday when the park was packed. It was 70 degrees out which didn't seem to me that cold. Well 4 hours later my t-shirt was still wet, so I guess that's why.

I wonder how much longer Rougarou has. It's been 10 years since the floorless conversion and that only gave it a short lived boost in popularity, it's one of the few Cedar Point coasters no one seems to like. Not sure how long the trains last on those but I bet when the time comes that the park has to think about buying new trains they may decide it's not worth it and remove it.

Issue is it incentivizes corporations to press on the government to massively increase immigration which is part of how we got in this mess to begin with. Parks require a steady population increase year over year to drive their long term profitability and do not give a fuck if the money they receive comes from an American or an "American". Disney adults are closer to being your people than the mexigoblins who pump out 3 kids they financially offset with EBT. The solution that actually improves the nation is "disney adults" growing up and having kids of their own and the government doing whatever it can to incentivize that and make it as easy as possible.

Corporations aren't pressing the government for more immigrants so Disney parks stay full, /pol/tards. And Mexico's birth rate is well below replacement so you can stop scapegoating their women.
>>
>>2867431
It does look like a plain old B&M looper, just scaled up. The parcel of land it's on isn't that big, but it's not tiny either. I can see Iron Dragon and Gemini sticking around longer than Rougarou, hopefully anyway. Both of those are still fun rides.
>>
>>2867433
>Corporations aren't pressing the government for more immigrants
Yes they are. They overwhelmingly support candidates that flood the nation with low-skill workers and consumers.
>And Mexico's birth rate is well below replacement so you can stop scapegoating their women.
23% of all foreign-born people in America are of Mexican origin and 59% of those receive some form of government assistance. Numbers aren't on your side.
>>
In terms of weather, is visiting Carowinds/Kings Dominion/Busch Gardens Williamsburg in the middle of July a bad idea if I am a northern baby who is uncomfortable with high heat?
>>
>>2867446
Everywhere gets hot and humid in the summer, esp in the South… I can’t speak for the other parks, but Busch Gardens is very shaded with lots of big trees and goes out of its way with fans and misters everywhere (they’re actually kinda known for it). There’s also lots of stores/ restaurants/ shows/ etc if you get too hot.
>>
If anyone experienced it or has opinions of this ride outside the Disney Adult sphere, I am interested
Was Journey Into Your Imagination (the 1999-2001 version) really as bad as people were saying as one of the top 3 worst Disney attractions ever, or were people just assblasted they removed Figment and made an entirely different attraction?
>>

Nice job cutting off the rest of that sentence, retarded chud. Concession accepted.

I tried out the current ride for the first time in my life 4 weeks ago, and it was definitely the second lamest ride of the trip only beat my Minions Villain-con. The room with all of the Figments to be kinda alright from not expecting so many animatronics in one scene, but it probably only stood out when compared to the rest of the ride..
So if the previous version didn't even have THAT, I can absolutely believe it was worse. But I never rode that one or the OG so I can't say, which also means I have 0 nostalgia for it or Figment.

>Nice job cutting off the rest of that sentence
The rest of the sentence was fucking irrelevant so I ignored it. All major corporations support globalism and mass immigration. Bloated populations of consumer cattle are very much in their financial interests. Disney, being a corporation, loves immigration. They were behind the altering of the travel visa system Obama did to flood the parks with Brazilians in the winter months. They also all support mass influxes of H1-bs to undercut pay for American-born workers. Fuck you

>And just completely dodging Mexican women's low birthrate. Another concession accepted.
Again, irrelevant. They tether themselves to the US by having kids here then expect the """american citizen""" they gave birth to to anchor them here. Fuck you again.

Isn’t it kinda weird that I think Mario Kart could’ve been reworked into being Mario Galaxy, Luigi’s mansion, or some other Mario ip?
As someone who rode it, my own mother is always super confused about what is going on and I think the whole shell system is kinda wildly limiting by how confusing it is at many instances on when I gain them, ran out of them, and what enemies give me coins or not. The system makes the majority of enemies worthless besides the koopalins and the bowser boss stages.

I think the ride system itself is pretty good and offers a good amount of intensity I get from Gringotts’ back car when it’s moving from the transitions, making those rough and swingy turns. The system worked better than it did in MIB and the Cat in the Hat. It’s just when it’s implemented into a shooter, it always feels really intense regardless of how slow they try to make it be.

Likewise, I find the constant and drastic transitions kinda wild most of the time by how randomized it all feels. That I would prefer something like Luigi’s mansion just for the gameplay alone so everything will feel less distracting and everything would be far more clear in what I’m supposed to do.

And it doesn’t help that in most of the land, it’s always really flashy and filled to the brim with highly interactive elements that I would’ve preferred the more laid back Mario Galaxy as an experience for the main attraction of SNW. It would’ve shown off similar elements that couldn’t have been given to SNW’s main hub in a very different and less noisy experience. And the line could’ve moved a lot quicker if they didn’t have to juggle it up with the AR.
>>
>>2867525
I've ridden all three versions It made the ride worse, I've only vague memories from the differences between that and the newest version, felt they made figment pretty annoying when they added him back in. But then I also wasn't that butthurt by the removal of the dreamfinder, giving that area a unified theme to go with the Honey I shrunk the Audience made a lot of sense.
>>
>>2867299
I think it is next to go but has awhile, probably half a decade at least
Six Flags has far bigger fish to fry right now before more Cedar additions. Even after they get the Enchanted Parks split off Cedar is one of the parks they need to focus on the least on rebuilding or adding attractions to
>>
>>2867640
The parks that make the most typically get the most. They can't afford not to put in new rides at CP for very long. I think managers have looked at the ride's future maintenance schedule (as they do for all rides) and reviewed how much they will need to spend on it and what the ride really does for the park... It's not much and they know it.

Some of the older coasters that seem short on time might not be. Iron Dragon, Gemini, and the mine train are all mild to moderate thrills and have low height requirements, so they check off boxes for families and kids' first "real" coasters. They're pretty simple too, which keeps their annual maintenance costs within reason.

Rougarou is a straight up extreme thrill ride but it isn't popular or unique. I imagine they have already master planned its retirement based around upcoming maintenance intervals. When the current trains get worn out and need replacement (just as an example) or some other major work will be needed, that will be the end of it imo. I doubt its annual maintenance costs are very high though, which is why I think its future is hinged upon the replacement of a major expense. Five years sounds about right, I would be surprised to see it depart in the next 2 or 3 seasons.
>>
>>2867601
The shells need an auto-replenishment with a timer of however many seconds are balanced. It's shit when you go through all your shells too quickly and can't do anything to get more back at what appears to be arbitrary points.

It's a shame that the theming is actually pretty good during the ride, you just don't can't see it because you're focused on the AR stuff. Maybe at some point they'll tune it better.

It’s an attraction that put itself into too many directions. It’s a surprise they’ve never at one point considered to simplify the ride or retheme it entirely.

Cause as you and I have mentioned, the theming is great but counteracts with the gameplay heavily. I often mixed it up with the gameplay to waste my shells.

I dont understand why people are pushing for Luigi's mansion so hard. Shooting galleries fucking suck. MIB and to a much larger extent Mario Kart you can only hold either game focus or world focus.

The only good way to do a shooting gallery is one where you shoot animatronics to make them play animations. Seamlessly blend the ride design with the gameplay so you dont miss either and are incentivized to look around for stuff to shoot before firing. Cant think of a single one that does it that way though.

>Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced Wednesday it has entered into definitive agreements to sell seven of its amusement parks to EPR Properties for $331 million in cash, subject to customary purchase price adjustments.
>The parks included in the transaction are Valleyfair in Minneapolis, Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Michigan’s Adventure in Grand Rapids, Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston in Galveston, Six Flags St. Louis, Six Flags Great Escape in Queensbury, and Six Flags La Ronde in Montreal.
>EPR plans to partner with Enchanted Parks to operate the six domestic properties and La Ronde Operations, Inc., a company owned by Kieran Burke, to run Six Flags La Ronde. EPR will retain rights to use the Six Flags brand through the end of 2026, subject to certain requirements.

Was inevitable, one of the first things they mentioned following the merger was trimming the fat from the chain, which almost certainly meant selling off the lesser-performing parks. On one hand I'm hoping this means they'll receive larger and/or more consistent investments, but on the other hand I'm skeptical given how Darien Lake has gone to shit under Enchanted. I guess we'll see
>>
>>2868215
Man, hopefully that means La Ronde will get SOME shine back. It's my home park and it's sad to see how much it's fallen off, to the point of even getting rid of it's iconic log ride. At least Goliath is still cool.
They do say not to expect any change for this year, but I'm still hopeful that it can't get any worse.

Now the question is, which Six Flags park will be the worst now that La Ronde is no longer with them?

What is the meta for riding Cosmic Rewind with minimal wait? Taking my sister Monday who has never been on it but the ride isn't even worth a 40 minute wait. Hotel guests will beat us to the punch, so is fighting the rope drop crowds even worth it?

Rope dropping will get you a 50-60 minute or so wait time. Here's the real secret: the line flies at parking closing, I guess because no more lightning lane splitting the flow. I got in in 35 minutes even though the posted time was 110 minutes.

I disagree that it's not worth 40 minutes though, that coaster is fun as fuck.
>>
>>2868316
15 years ago B&M were elite. What happened?
Nemesis at Alton Towers got a retrack and is now unrideable in one moment with a huge rattle just before the end. On top of that they look stuck in the past offering dive machines with over the shoulder (dull) while the others are offering LSM with lap harnesses
>>
>>2868320
They were only elite in the 90s, a period so bad for coasters that shitty Arrows and Vekomas were popular because there wasn’t much else. B&M has changed it up very little since the 90s, so they’ve been left behind by the companies pushing things forward: Intamin, RMC, Mack, and even Vekoma now.

Considering how bad their new ride quality is now, I would not be surprised to see them go the way of Arrow. Surely Seaworld is not going to keep buying from them after they delivered Penguin Trek.

Their only innovation 26 years into this century is the surf coaster, and the seats are the only innovative part of that coaster. They also made a wing coaster in 2011, copying an Intamin idea from 2007. They're just perfectly content to do the same thing 30 years in a row, and that's why they've been left behind.

Because it requires a divine spark that modern """educated""" cosmopolitan art-fags that constitute Disney Creative do not possess.

Original Disney: autistic men who took their natural interest in things such as pirates, ghosts, or pulp jungle stories and were given a blank canvas with which to explore them. They had no real credentials beyond their output. They operated on feeling, gut, and moxie. They didnt filter every creative decision through 10 subsequent meetings where questions such as "what will an african american transgender wheelchair bound middle aged man think of this bathroom we designed?" they just fucking built shit

Because theme parks have become the main generator of revenue as cable is dying and that means it is most beholden to shareholders wanting returns, when before it was a bit of a sustaining side thing allowed to do its own thing as long as it was not bleeding money with its budget.
So now every ride must be “optimized”. It must all be family friendly Slinky rides that bring in the lightning lane, it must be themed to an existing IP for promotion and “connected synergy among media”. They are not allowed to breathe and put in an offbeat original theme or a long ride that will take out LL interest. Even the originals like Haunted Mansion or Pirates that have built in popularity need these live action films every few years to justify their existence to corporate for the “synergy”.
That is the theme parks under Bob Iger, and seemingly Josh if he is thinking a Villians land cannot have a ride more thrilling than Seven Dwarves in Fantasyland

>Wants to invest in new attractions frequently, said it was underperforming due to lack of investment by Six Flags
I looked at what exactly EPR is, they seem to be a big company with a diversified portfolio of entertainment options (Topgolf, movie theaters, and other venues). Looks like they're getting into the theme park sector with this purchase, and acquiring all those parks for $330 million is a steal. Good luck to them but I think they'll find it's more challenging to get people in the front gate than they think.

While it's true they didn't get much investment under CF/SF, just adding new rides alone and cutting everything else was the strategic mistake SF made. I hope the new managers consider rounding their parks out with more security, more theming and landscaping, bigger ride crews, and better in-park entertainment options. Nearly all of these parks are in the central US, so perhaps that will offer them an advantage they can capitalize on.

>Mid-America by Enchanted Parks is the current tentative name for the park starting 2027
Too long and they really need to drop "Mid" from the name.
>>
>>2868553
So?
>>
>>2868554
I went to SFSL on a Sunday last year and it was absolutely slammed. If they’ll do that for a shitty park I’m sure they’ll come up once it gets some care and new rides.
>>
>>2868551
Also forgot a very interesting reveal
>They are in talks with Warner Bros for licensing IPs for the St Louis park, maybe the whole chain. Unclear if the sale allows them to negotiate for continued usage of DC/Looney Tunes, if only for a temporary period to stopgap changes, or if they are going for different IPs that are not used in parks (such as Hanna Barbera, Wizard of Oz, horror themes for Halloween, etc)
>>2868554
EPR will own the land and is leasing to Enchanted Parks as operator. They get paid the leasing fee and some income. These parks will get more direct focus now so hopefully they can clean up the operations and make them clean parks. Most importantly, they only need to profit, there is no need for consistent quarterly profit gains to make the stock go up like in Six Flags
>Too long and they really need to drop "Mid" from the name.
The real theme park name would be Mid-America. That goes back to its original name Six Flags over Mid-America. The unfortunate part is Mid-America would not be a bad name, if “Mid” did not get a new connotation in the 2020s

>>
>>2868564

>>
>>2868551
I’ve never been there but I drove past it on the way to Branson. Looked like a good location with the Ozark hills and far enough away from the city to have a problem with black riff raff. I still think it would need a lot of work to increase attendance… the dwindling population would need it to be a destination to draw people to drive longer to visit (like SDC) but I don’t really see that happening here. I dont think most of these parks will be around in 10 years. This Ureka area used to have more touristy things and stores that had all closed in recent years
>>
>>2867640
>Six Flags has far bigger fish to fry right now before more Cedar additions.
Cedar Point is the crown jewel of the chain. It will always get additions. The amount of butt hurt over Sirens Curse going there was absurd. It’s Cedar fucking Point, the only real destination park they have with multiple resorts and and sports complex and a beach. In the middle of nowhere, Ohio yet it gets 4 million visitors a season. The other parks will be fine now that it’s mostly just all major parks. The SF parks need work and will get it but Cedar Point still gonna get additions
>>
>>2868569
I get it, just boils down to personal preferences. If you're used to medium/large parks, SFSL will probably seem better. The problem I had with Six Flags St. Louis was that it came with Six Flags problems: Closed rides, single train operations, less than stellar operations although they weren't as bad as other SF parks. Despite being one of Cedar Fair's smallest parks, WoF was well landscaped, clean, and well run. WoF did some single train bullshit but they would actually put 2 trains once the line got out of the station, something Six Flags seldom did.

WoF has fewer coasters than SFSL, but both parks have a number of who cares/one-and-done coasters, e.g. boomerangs, spinners, and family/kids coasters. I'll take Patriot and Mamba over Mr. Freeze and Batman. SFSL's 3 woodies easily beat WoF's, although Prowler is my favorite wooden coaster. Neither park has a real stand out attraction unfortunately.

>>2868572
I can see KC growing at a modest rate while St. Louis stagnates. Seems like KC has more going on but that's just my guess.
>>
>>2868575
Given the operating losses, the ceo resigned and most of the board resigned due to 2025’s performance I do not think that giving Cedar Point all the additions and wanting those 4 million Ohioans to offset all the other parks becoming low tier minnows getting cuts everywhere was a good strategy
>>
Siren's Curse really should have gone to another park in the system.
>>
>>2868580
It’s not just Ohioans though. Michigan and Indiana and also some western Pennsylvanians. And a few people from farther away. People in SE Michigan go there all the time and have never been to Michigan’s Adventure which is farther away. I agree that Cedar Point shouldn’t carry the chain and it won’t, but they still need to keep giving it additions because it’s a destination park. Now that they got rid of almost all the small parks (except for the couple EPR parks they still manage) I think they’ll do what they did to Carowinds and Kings Island and Canada’s Wonderland to the other SF parks since they’re all big parks that have been run poorly for too long.
>>2868583
Well too bad so sad, it didn’t. Plus many of the parks people said it should go to were literally the garbage-tier parks that the just got rid of. That would have been a fucking waste. Can you imagine if they put it at SomaliFair only to sell it to EPR/Enchanted? Would have been such a waste
>>
>>2868601
>Well if you look at the situation through my arbitrary requirements, I'm right!
Not an argument.
>>
>>2868583
You guys need to stop looking at it like a chain that should balance investments around the chain. That’s not how it works. Post merger the entire chain is carried by Cedar Point, Kings Island, Knott’s and Canada’s Wonderland. Knott’s doesn’t have a lot of space and has to go through permit approval hell to build anything but those parks are where the money is going to be mostly spent (and Magic Mountain)
>>
>>2868605
Looking forward to the next giga dive showing up at Cedar Point
>>
>>2868601
Cedar Point is obviously going to get consistent attractions lol, not all of them have to be big attractions they can get flats and kiddie rides
What I am saying is they just got two major coasters and are at the top of the game & in a monopoly for the market, they do not need additions when the rest of the chain is struggling
The real retarded move imo was not even giving Cedar Point Siren’s Curse, it was giving them the same year TTD came back. What a waste to not give them separate time to hype up interest then drop the other a few years later
>>
>>2868579
I didn’t experience any of that, it was just crowded. I thought the ops were good. I still remember the girl on American Eagle making cute rhymes before dispatching (she’s red she’s blue she goes 62…”. I found Mr. Freeze to be elite, but I might be in the minority there. Even though I didn’t ride it Catwoman Whip stands out to me. There are only a few like it on the continent.

Patriot just looks like a batclone and Mamba I heard is a clone of Steel Force, which I wasn’t impressed with, but I only rode it once. Looking forward to Prowler though.
>>
>>2868608
They gave it to Cedar Point because of the TT2 situation and also because it’s Cedar Point. Otherwise it should only have gone to a park that deserved it like KI. Not a garbage park that they want out of the portfolio like a lot of thoosies wanted. Cedar Point should have gotten a larger version like that Saudi Arabia tilt with 3 trains but it’s still pretty great and now the want to clone it at other parks anyways which should be cheap
>>
>>2868605
>Post merger the entire chain is carried by Cedar Point, Kings Island, Knott’s and Canada’s Wonderland
That Magic Mountain and Great Adventure are not there (or really any legacy Six Flags parks) shows how poorly managed they were under the old Six Flags but also how the new Six Flags is not doing a great job with them
With Great Adventure in particular I am confident the bulk of the hundreds of millions of dollars of losses for the entire chain the last 4 quarters are from Great Adventure and how the new company managed and strategized handling that park
>>
>>2868611
Great Adventure’s attendance has been declining for years and it was already dead on days it should be busy two years before the merger. Removing Ka sucks but it had low ridership and high maintenance. The park was too over built for the attendance it was getting. There is also no good reason why the attendance should have collapsed over the years. They fucked up and conceded the region to Hershey. But I’m optimistic there is a lot of opportunity for growth here. They did re-do restaurants and kept rides that were always closed like Houdini open last year. Flash shouldn’t have gone here either but it’s pretty great. Spinda Ka will be good. GAdv will be fine
>>
>>2868609
>Patriot just looks like a batclone
Night and day difference. Patriot isn't going to be anyone's favorite invert but it's more enjoyable because it has less intense moments between the inversions to give riders a little break. BTR is just too much too quickly for me now, but when I was younger they weren't anything special compared to custom inverts of the day (Raptor, Montu, Top Gun, Dueling Dragons, etc.)

>and Mamba I heard is a clone of Steel Force
Cedar Fair's Morgan hypers are all similar and they're patterned after Magnum, but they're not clones. I liked Mamba and I'd take it over most B&M hypers since they reduced the trimming action in the block brake and the bunny hills have some punch to them. I wish the company would consider buying different trains that are more open when they're due for replacement, but they're still not bad as-is.

>>2868611
It's unreal how much the company de-prioritized Magic Mountain even before the merger. They were positioning it to beat Cedar Point for the number of coasters (and they did for a while) - then they just gave up. I suspect some of that is throwing in the towel with regard to California's red tape. If the company isn't showbiz or tech, they really don't give a fuck if you go out of business.
>>
>>2868613
I just call all inverts batclones because I don’t find any of them distinctive except Alpengeist.

If you had invested $100 in Disney stock on July 20, 2015 and reinvested all dividends, you would now have $93 in stock. So it can’t be about money. What is it about then? Great Adventure was fine and competing pre-Covid, it had always been in the top 20 for the US (including all the resort parks) and was pretty much level with Hersheypark. This is despite mismanagement, because it had cool rides in one of the best areas for a seasonal park ever. Underperformed but still did numbers.
Post-Covid it declined in attendance because they increased the price and the quality simply sucks. Bad employees, bad food, bad maintenance, bad strategy, bad management, high prices, requiring lockers they make you pay for, and of course bad clientele. Hershey beat them at all of that. Really it has always been used (along with Magic Mountain) as the piggy bank to fund the rest of the failing chain so did not get proper funding past 2007.
The thing was the ride lineup was not the problem, the problem is the quality sucked. They could just invested to get quality of operations up to par to bring those numbers back. Instead Cedar Fair decides the solution is to demolish a quarter of the park and their only reason to go ride to reduce costs and keep the same quality because the location means they will still come and fund the rest of the company. Then acts shocked when no one comes in 2025 and goes to Hershey, and then cuts events further.
A lot of it was Six Flags mismanagement but their issues could have been resolved, Cedar Fair caused where it is now. At this point I don’t think they can stop this death spiral they caused which turned off the entire region.
>>
>>2868622
20-25 years ago Great Adventure was, for a while, either the highest grossing or most attended park in the Six Flags system (I don't remember which but yes it was beating out Great America and even Magic Mountain, which together were the "Big 3" SF parks). Hersheypark was clearly the lesser of the two. How time changes things, I didn't foresee a day when Hershey would be serious competition for Great Adventure let alone surpassing it to become the dominant park in that region.

>The thing was the ride lineup was not the problem, the problem is the quality sucked.
That's what managers and executives struggle with because it's so intangible and means so many different things to guests. You can't just buy it. Good operations and cordial staff are built over time. And even if executives see it they have to convince shareholders to buy into their plan and even if they do, after 3 quarters of subpar returns and they'll be calling for a management shakeup. Next CEO comes in and starts cutting... Leaving them right back at square one.

Also, after the 1998 sale, Six Flags had mostly ineffective leaders. Story, Burke, Shapiro, and the rest, they were all just axe men with no real vision.
>>
>>2868622
GAdv used to have almost 4 million guests and for the past several years (PRE-merger) its best less than half that. Nothing to do with the merger. It’s a fantastic park even in its current state and they need to figure that shit out. Also Ka sucked when compared to El Toro
>>

Hersheypark was even lesser than Dorney Park 25 years ago. Speaking of Dorney I’m glad they didn’t sell it off. I like that park plus it’s historical and has a great flat collection. Six Flags is only Six Flags in name only, the company is Cedar Fair with the Six Flags name and the few SF execs who stayed on have mostly left. I kinda wish the merger never happened but now that they dropped most of the small parks, I’m optimistic. Most of these other SF parks are big parks that have been ran poorly for far too long. Give them the KI/Carowinds/Canada’s Wonderland treatment and in 5-10 years they’ll be fine. Great Adventure will probably benefit from the region pass that includes Dorney and KD. I would like to think parks like Great Adventure and MM will for sure increase their attendance under competent leadership

It is a fun exercise to imagine in some sort of modern US civil war scenario what locations and assets on Disney World would be valuable for military purposes.
>North
Of course, target #1 would be the energy plant, monorail station, nearby essentials in the backstage of Magic Kingdom. The monorails would not be good for transporting personnel since anything on tracks is an easy target to enemies but since they can be automated they could feed supplies to the southern front of battle. For transporting personnel in this region you would grab any boats you can find, even the ferryboats.

>Battlefronts
TTC down to the Speedway and Bus depot with another front on the East where Southern soldiers come up the river from down near Port Orleans coming up to Fort Wilderness trying to bypass TTC and attack the Northern base of operations, but North has the upper hand on water and can easily blockade

>South
Southern base of operations would be in Disney springs due to I-4 accessibility but with an extensive base at Epcot due to its accessibility to most everywhere else on property. They could grab the Mickey solar farm for themselves but it is dangerously close to the front lines and likely to get taken out of play. It is possible the veterinarian sections of Animal Kingdom may have useful medicines or tranquilizers but realistically that probably wouldn't contribute much. Considered Living with the Land's food supply but similarly I don't know if it makes much of a dent in the daily needs. The skyliner is practically useless, as a basic IED drone could derail a pylon. The south struggles with more land to defend but worse access to the different areas to transport equipment and troops.
South would hopefully have a bunch of buses that were left hanging around. If there happened to be a monorail or two left at Epcot station they could attempt to rig one with explosives and remotely take out TTC at night.

I don't see the South winning but if you have anything to add, shoot

This is the type of post I want to see from this general. Autism-sama, I kneel.
>>
>>2868638
That is what I am getting at. The ride lineup was there, prior results were there, the dip in attendance was only due to absolute shit quality experience under Six Flags the last half decade. All the park needed post merger was Cedar Fair to come in and slowly run it like a Cedar Fair park and it would rebound back after a few seasons
Cedar Fair screwed itself so hard with the 2024 removals and the events cancellations of 2025 that now I’m not sure it will ever rebound even if it cleans up, the cost cutting was the worse possible move to do when people were at the end of their tolerance and the rival park that has its act together is right there. The spinner looking inferior to Ka won’t help them.
>>
>>2868742
I think they’ll be fine. Hershey’s better but GAdv is still a good park even after the removals. Hershey is still 2.5 hours from GAdv and if you have to contend with Philly rush hour it will take even longer. But Hershey has hotels and is a destination park with overnight stays while GAdv is not (except the overpriced limited glamping sites). Spinda Ka will probably be more GP-friendly than Ka and the entrance will be easier to get to. They sent out a survey about the Christmas even coming back, I think it will be back. The cost cutting was chain-wide… hopefully the worst of it is over. Still not as bad as “United” Parks cost cutting to all their parks that aren’t Discovery Cove. Give it 5 years, I think it will be fine. I enjoyed my visit last year

BGW slaughters BGT in theming, pic related. It's not even about Europe being better than Africa. BGT simply does not give a fuck about Africa. I don't care about animals but I imagine BGT is better there. They have a Serengeti.

Coasters, Iron Gwazi is considered one of the best coasters in the world, but for me personally I have it on par with Apollo's Chariot and Pantheon. I don't think BGT has much of value beyond IG. Cheetah Hunt and Cobra's Curse are kind of mid and the rest are similar to rides you can find elsewhere. BGW has Verbolten, which is pretty unique, and Alpengeist, which is my favorite invert because of the way it interacts with the landforms. There's also Darkoaster which I didn't ride because it was down.

BGW is considered to be one of the country's most naturally beautiful parks. The entire thing is in a forest and close to a bay, which you overlook from its dive coaster, Griffon. BGT has a very jewish locker policy for IG. Operations are better at BGW. BGT has probably the worst maintenance department in the country with frequent ride closures.

The reason for this is BGT was originally themed around Colonial Africa which obviously doesn't fly in 2026. Africa also isn't exactly a cultural powerhouse so outside of the brief colonial history, the majority of their history is tribal shit that people would freak out about being portrayed even with a romanticized historical white-washing. It's just drum circles, war masks, and warnings about trickster spirits.

They should just drop the African theming altogether and theme it to animals or biomes. They kind of already have done this with turning Timbuktu into Pantopia (which is like colorful Wakanda if you haven't been).

Cant have pith helmet adventure be a theme like the African Queen ride cause pith helmet adventure is "white supremacy", etc etc.

I don’t buy that Africa has no culture they can use. They have no problem using fake culture so why not find some real culture? Just scroll through African dictionaries and find a suitable word that means “roar”, don’t tell people that’s what kumba means. I don’t think leftists would be a problem if it’s done respectfully.

its got an insane amount of charm. That something like Big Dipper is still open is amazing. Feels dangerous every ride (obviously isnt). The Big One is one of those coasters you laugh all the way round too

People overrate Icon though. Its not the best coaster in Britain. Its a good modern coaster, thats about it.

There is a nostalgia for boardwalk amusement parks, and Blackpool is this on steroids plus many classic attractions intact
>>
Speaking of the UK, Hyperia came and went quickly. It looks good except for the short duration, which is probably what hurts it the most.
>>
>>2868939
>what is it with yanks and wanting to go pleasure beach?
In the 90s when Disovery Channel and TLC started making programs based on thrill rides, Blackpool was featured a lot because of The Big One. If they weren't featuring Blackpool then they would show something at Alton Towers, in particular Nemesis when it was also new. Apparently there was a big rivalry between the two parks then, don't know if that's the case now.
>>
>>2868970
it needed 30 more seconds and would be top 10 in the world. The drop is probably one of the best Ive done.
>came and went quickly
tell people in Britain this. 5 minutes after rope drop it has a 60+ minute queue until the park shuts. Express pass is £20 each time. The best thing about the ride is it makes the other good rides less busy the first 90 minutes of the day

I dont think the Taxidermy would go over well in a post-Blackfish world. I personally love the colonial African aesthetic and never really associated it with racism (unless you think civilizing an untamed continent is racism which I'm assuming leftards do).

There was a noticeable shift after the park went private equity in the naming conventions of the coasters. Kumba, Montu, and SheiKra are all single African words describing something about the ride. Cheetah Hunt was the first addition post-acquisition and always stood out to me as a moment of transition due to how differently it rolls off the tongue and how it describes the ride.

A fun thing to do is to go to youtube and type in [Park Name] Family Vacation [Year]. There's hundreds of videos of old VHS camcorder footage from dads in the 80s and 90s that recorded their family vacations. The videos have less than 1000 views and are basically a time capsule. You can find extremely rare footage of dark ride elements that operated for maybe a year before being shut off forever. You can see animatronic systems operating in their physical prime. You can also see direct observable proof of America's cultural and demographic decline but I digress.

The VHS camcorders usually have pretty shit low-light visibility which sucks, but there's a whole goldmine out there of rare footage sitting on youtube waiting to be found. Vacation dads were theme park archivists and had no idea

We should start mining these and post rare pulls.

Here's the dolphin show at BGT before they moved them over to seaworld and turned the arena into a 4D theater.

It's cruelty to animals no matter how you cut it. It's an animal that has a territorial range in the hundreds of square miles being constrained to a tank the size of a small family home. I think BGT’s theming and landscaping is underrated. BGW is built in the woods with a large natural creek. Nature is doing the heavy lifting. BGT is in the worst part of Tampa with only the hotels across the street and the USF campus standing out as nice. The rest of it is a dump but you wouldn’t know that from inside the park, especially in the original gardens area

If I was them I'd just theme it to greek mythology but with a focus on the african (or Aethiopian in this case) stuff found in it.
>Memnon was an african king who fought in the Trojan War
>Andromeda was an african woman (explicitly stated to be black by Ovid although other accounts may differ) that was being sacrificed to a sea monster and saved by Perseus (who famously slew medusa and lead to the birth of Pegasus)
>Hercules had some myths that took place in Africa (although I think they all occurred in North Africa) and Hercules himself could have possibly been part black through his aforementioned grandmother Andromeda
Not sure if there's alot of angles here for the animal/beast aspect if we want to keep the zoological concept intact

You're defending keeping orcas in tanks the size of a small grocery store. Do not try to change what this is about. You can argue the overall ethics of presenting animals to a voting population while underscoring the need for conservation programs all over the world. There's an argument there, but an animal as big as a killer whale should not be constrained to such a small square footage.

Gotta side with the libtards on this one. It always was evil.

Normal admission is a miserable experience without express more often than not. It's very low capacity. If it rains, half the park closes and it rains all the time in Florida. So what you end up with is an experience where normal admission is the economy experience while the express upcharge feels more like a normal experience which rubs people the wrong way, as it should. I'm sure comcast loves the idea of a 500$/person theme park day but for most guests that's egregiously jewish, hence the low ratings. You can only squeeze consumers so much before they drop your product all-together.

Anyway it kind of does, it depends what you value. He is not making the big general decisions like Avatar Land is coming, non-IP rides can get made or what Disneyland Park 3 will be themed, that is Josh. They do deal with the smaller details he won’t have time to bother with like how to implement those demands, what entertainment will exist, pricing and park strategy, what parks will be budgeted, general lead up of ideas form Imagineers for Josh to approve, how to implement ideas and delegate to the resort presidents, etc. So a lot of the little stuff that makes a complete park

Was at Epcot yesterday with my sis who had never been. It was quite busy but I suppose I wouldn't call it slam packed. Didn't have time to ride soarin, figment or test track.
We tried doing Test track before fireworks but it went down. They gave us the option to wait so we figured we'd try. About an hour later just hoping the ride would come up eventually, a CM came around telling everybody that "as long as you're in line we will let you ride it if it comes back up even if you're not an extra magic hours guest" (park was open til 11 for resort stay guests) then like half hour after he said that they just kicked everyone out of the queue anyway.
They were giving out LLs but sister and I were only there for the one day and it was already too late to use them for anything. I wish I had bitched a little and gotten at least an equivalent value gift card or something but I didn't realize our LLs were useless til we left the queue.
At least they kicked us out with enough time to see the fireworks. But then I heard Test track running as we were exiting the park and Thrill-Data says the ride was up after 9pm. Felt scammed by that.

It does not surprise me at all that Test track is a such a fragile ride system, I just wish I knew what usually causes the downtime and why it takes so long to recover.

You missed a step. Which coaster manufacturers are selected for highly themed coasters in the first place? Ones that are capable of meeting the challenge. Aka not B&M. The most B&M can do is delay the beginning of the ride for a brief preshow (Baron 1898, Thunderbird etc.) but after that, your coaster is going to look very much like the rest of the ones of the same model.

B&M designs coasters, and the design is usually integral to theming. B&M is incapable of designing coasters with good theming, which is why parks interested in good theming tend to avoid them and parks that don't care about theming tend to love them.
>>
>>2869422

B&M doesn't design the theming. They design the coaster to the client's specifications.

I think the original plans of SNW in Florida potentially had ET on the table of getting scrapped for an expansion.
Since the arm bands we’ve found in the data had reserved DK and Diddy for their attraction, and Rosalina and Toadette would reasonably be reserved for a final third expansion in a nearby area (if possible) or room for a Pokemon attraction space. And it was planned this way just because of the lack of land they’ve had back then, before Epic Universe’s opening, and some limitations they’ve had under their contract. As in they cannot make another Mario attraction without it debuting in USJ, which means they’ve could’ve looked over at USJ’s spiderman and space fantasy as those spaces to debut new Nintendo themed attractions. And with space fantasy being a former ET, it and Florida’s ET could’ve been the spaces for a new Nintendo based ride that was near-identical to save space, time, and money.
>>

I do not care much because I think this ride is out by 2030
They were going to replace it with a Ducktales/Duck Comic ride but COVID reduced the budget for new Toontown so it stayed. But it is at the age these get replaced and now Disney does not even have much Roger Rabbit rights besides the designs and original film (they cannot really advertise with the name since the original author got the names back).
Either the Ducktales ride is put back up or the earlier pitch for the Oswald ride happens in promotion with the upcoming show, but I do not see it lasting much longer

Cannot be an expensive IP to license and they have too many upcoming projects and lands to develop before this is an issue, including building Epic up to scale. As water rides they hold on their own even if the IP is not a draw. In the IP race park fans forget it is not solely dependent on what IP is bigger but what types of rides might attract people
I bet they renew once and this land goes away around 2039.

Counter point: Universal is positioning themselves for aggressive expansion and has an incentive to swap that area with a more lucrative IP ASAP. I think if you were to make a chart showing what lands sold the most merch last year, toon lagoon is most likely the weakest of the currently operating lands at Islands. I'm saying that just based on the shirts I see people wearing at the park. Tons of potter, tons of seuss, tons of JP, very rarely if ever popeye/betty boop. That's a big part of Universal's profitability.

2029 will presumably be after the Lost Continent replacement is finished and the timing could be perfect to swap in something like SpongeBob or (god forbid) anime. If you think about it, what else is there to build after the Lost Continent replacement is done? It's the next most obvious thing and the timing is almost perfect.

Is this a serious question? Are you asking if Jurassic Park and The Grinch sell better than a niche cartoon primarily enjoyed by rockabilly hipster girls?

I go to universal at least 10 times a year and I've seen someone wearing betty boop stuff maybe one time despite it having land representation. Wicked has zero representation outside of a pop-up store and I see way more of that

tell me more about these women. Where can I meet them

But the thing is, is it really an immediate issue? They have other issues. They have Lost Continent’s replacement which will likely open end of the decade, they have to replace Simpsons which leaves next year (unless they are keeping that which is very unlikely), Supercharged needs replacement after closing next year, they need to expand Epic, and the main park needs help overall. All comes before Toon Lagoon, and these are expensive additions in which the budget needs to balance for additions especially if the economy is going in the shitter. The timing is not matching up where a replacement for this is moving dirt in 2029 so it is simpler to just renew and remove it and void the agreement when ready, which is looking mid 2030s.
The benefit is this is a cheap IP to keep as they need it more than Universal does, while IPs like Harry Potter and Nintendo they are paying out of the ass for. So renewing it for a few years is a cost savings as it frees the funds for the big Pokémon and whatever else additions which will then funnel income to this and then free up scheduling to give it a good replacement
Again, the rides drawing people in but no one knowing who the fuck these characters are otherwise does not mean it is urgent for removal.

Dive bars in any city's downtown area, drag shows, instagram burlesque tags, diabetes clinics.

All three parks have individualized management and individualized budgets. What goes on with Studios has limited impact on what happens at Islands so the Simpsons and Supercharged situation is irrelevant to IoA. Lost Continent will go walls up later this year when JP is finished and should be finished 2028 then after that the most obvious move at Islands is revamping Toon Lagoon with a modern money-making IP.

It's no longer about the rides alone and Dudley and Popeye are great water rides, but they don't generate additional purchases like Jurassic Park, Potter, and Seuss do Opportunity cost becomes a factor.

Is Poseidon still open or has it already closed? I’m a sucker for those water jet tunnels

Closed back in 2023 sadly

Because they want to claim the title of "1000th Ghost" as if the kayfabe of "The Haunted Mansion was built by Walt to be a retirement/foster home for ghosts that lost their old houses to war and urban renewal" was real.
>>

Even outside the purging of Figment, the ride's plot was "Eric Idle calls you a retard and puts you through a funhouse to try and make you more imaginative or something".
>>
>>2869779
Do they still have the sinbad show at least? That, Poseidon, and the fountain were the only things in the lost continent. Dueling dragons was in an entirely different section

Rumba Rapids is closed at Thorpe Park now. Would've been 40 next year. Frees up a pretty large area in the park. You've got to assume they're going to put a family ride where it is, the park desperately needed a new one even before they closed this.

Family Launch coaster is probably the most obvious choice, can't see an SFX coaster given that Chessington is getting the Minecraft coaster. Wild Moose? Rocking Boat?

Sad. I never got a chance to ride it but you gotta agree a big splashy water ride in the UK is a ballsy move. Was it popular?
>>
>>2869795
>dickheads fuck around on rapids constantly standing up
>kid dies
>tory quango steps in and demands rapids need staff every few metres telling you to remain seated
>f/forward few years
>tories decide to lower age for minimum wage from 23 to 21
>labour decides to up minimum wage twice as well for fun
>even when hiring 18 yr olds the parks are spending a fortune
this is where we are now. Theme Park industry in UK is fucked thanks to the perpetual nanny state government. Rapids rides are ridiculously expensive to operate now.
>>
>>2869797
Was very popular when I was a kid, use to be one of the better rapids even though it got a bit neutered a few years into its life when a girl fell out and somehow lost an ear.

>>2869799
Yep the shit Drayton manor got from the government when a girl fell out because she stood up and ran across the raft to avoid getting splashed has probably doomed these rides in their current form. The legoland one was SBNO and is getting demolished this year, imagine Alton Tower's will be next.

The minimum wage and national insurance hikes will be hurting UK parks bad but we'll only find out how bad when the parks ramp up for Easter.
>>
>>2869799
Imagine getting paid £23 a hour to sit in a shack and play on your phone….. BILLIONS of people do that for free
>>
>>2869802
Back in the day that would be like $50 an hour. To do nothing. That’s insane
>>
>>2869799
I can understand why the UK is broke
>>
>>2869804
Wage compression is horrendous in the UK. Minimum wage has skyrocketed but productivity has flatlined. The minimum wage increases aren't being paid by productivity, they've already sacked as many people as they can so where does the money come from? The middle earners. Lowest get their 5% payrise, middle earns don't get one, and they see lots of middle roles get merged so they can't get promoted into a higher salary either.

To bring it back to the TPG. Merlin have insanely bad opening hours at offpeak times because of staff costs. 11am-4pm ride operating hours is pretty common for non-event days in autumn.
>>
>>2869805
You’re saying that MINIMUM wage is now almost £50,000 fucking wuid when just a few years ago that’s what city workers made. The whole economy has gone tits up. No wonder everybody voted for labour… now that things are worse what options have you got? Reform showed their arse with the poojeet stuff. It’s just like a death spiral. They say restore but idk if I trust another posh tosser. We trusted Boris and look where that got us. Highest immigration rate ever

>A new report out of Puck News suggests that Paramount Global may be exploring a surprising new direction for its Hollywood real estate following its planned acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery — and it could involve building a Paramount WB theme park.
>According to reporting from Puck News journalist Matthew Belloni, insiders say Paramount executives have discussed potentially transforming portions of their studio properties into a theme park-style attraction.
>Belloni wrote that he has heard the company could consider adding “theme park–style experiential entertainment on one of the lots, à la Universal Studios.” Paramount declined to confirm the report when asked.

Same when WB owned Six Flags
They hedged on regional parks when for IPs the gold was actually in spending for year-long immersive resorts in Florida and California. This sounds like it would be closer to those resort parks

Nevermind, apparently Lost Continent is going walls up much sooner than we thought. All Hallows Eve Boutique is permanently closed as of today.

Press F to pay respects.

Yes, but it is all adding up to one resort budget they then distribute to the individual parks. It can be more or less than the other parks and be changed, so it is not necessarily evenly distributed. See how all the Disney World parks are getting new themed lands with new build attractions, Magic Kingdom is getting two, and Epcot has nothing on the pipeline right now since they got a few rides. They pull budget towards a park that needs it.
In this case, if that one replacement is Pokemon then you are underestimating the scope of the one replacement. That is the biggest IP on the planet and to nail a land on it they might just make the most expensive land ever at a park. That would cover its allocated budget for a long time, and the increase in attendance just for that would mean it is not the park they need to focus on building up. At that point Toon Lagoon does not need to be touched for years until the hype slightly subsides
>>
Has anyone seen the overlay for Sapfe fantasy in its Club Zed form.
It basically takes all of the old assets of the ride for a new music based experience with the track changing throughout the ride.

I wonder if this means they’re done with the VR gimmick they’ve done on it over the years and just resort to using the screens and speakers already present on the attraction.
>>
>>2869834
>Lagoon does not need to be touched for years until the hype slightly subsides
I disagree, but we'll see over the next 4 years. I think after Epic the gameplan for the future of the parks is way different. I think the way IP is treated now by media companies has more in common with how assets are treated by investors. The amount of companies that call universal hoping to get their IP featured is probably immense. I know Paramount is gonna be heavily motivated to get a return on their WB purchase, for example. Don't be surprised if things like Looney Toons and Batman begin eyeing some of the legacy rides for removal, or even a 5th gate.

I agree that Pokémon is the biggest IP potential in theme park history and if it's done right it's gonna be what Harry Potter was for the park but multiplied by a million. The rumors for the japanese version didnt really excite me that much but rumors at universal are as good as written on tissue paper. A potential problem is that Nintendo is run by evil dipshits now and the soul of the company died with Iwata and Reggie leaving. Miyamoto is just kinda the mascot at this point.
>>
Mario Kart could’ve been a higher capacity attraction if they ditched the gameplay element entirely.

Closed in 2018, they use the arena for Hagrid overflow queue
>>

When they said they were doing a mark kart ride my initial thought was "oh cool an indoor coaster".

I'm still mad it isn't that.

>>

They also don't have the motivation to keep promoting the Jay Ward stuff anymore since the rights went to Wildbrain.

>>2869806
Minimum wage for 40hrs/week is somewhere around £26,500 a year from next month. For anyone over 21.
For perspective 5 years ago it was £17,000
>>
>>2869847
Nope. They cheaped out and just made a trackless dark ride with a VR gimmick. It’s all flashy bullshit with no actual substance. Rode it once, never again
>>
>>2869829
It's a damn shame to see the only original land at Islands go. It was a beautiful land that never really lived up to its potential attraction-wise (outside of duelling dragons). I would have loved to see them revamp the land rather than replace it, but obviously that'd never happen in today's consoomer environment. I just hope whatever replaces it is good and keeps the fountain in some way.

I'd like that a lot. They've been expiramenting with interactive characters there the past few years, so maybe there's hope.
