>Last Thread: >>2867257RIP Lost Continent edition>What is this thread? Why are there two generals?/rcg/ was initially created as a way for the roller coaster enthusiasts on here to discuss all things roller coasters and theme parks. While roller coasters are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other theme parks, their rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /tpg/ comes in.>Can I talk about Disney/Universal parks in this thread?Absolutely! Disney/Universal discussion of all sorts including rides/resorts/dining/trip planning is OK.General Rules: 1. Talk about Theme Parks and Rollercoasters. 2. Halloween store has been moved to the front of the park. Not sure who buys the really overpriced shit from there in the first place.
>>2869930So does anyone know if BG has a wait times app? I kind of want to go even though its going to be packed with Spring Breakers who basically slam the place from March to April before the Summer Breakers slam it from June - Early August.
Do you guys actually go to parks or is this place like /v/ where everyone just complains while not actually playing games?
>>2869993Avoid the 2 or 3 actual spring break weeksDon't go on Fri/Sat/Sun
>>2869997The actual weeks have already begun my friend. I'm seeing children everywhere. The schools don't release kids the same week. They each choose their own week throughout April and March.
>>2869999That's why I said avoid the 2 or 3 actual spring break weeks, and beyond that avoid going on Fridays and weekends
>>2869994I've seen people post from inside the parks so we do have boots on the ground. There's a youtuber that posts here and is very chill and we have at least 2 confirmed TMsWe also have a lot of angry autists but they just add to the ambiance.
>have unused Epic ticket because Stardust kept getting delayed>brother, his pregnant wife and their 35" tall son are going in mid-April>cool I'll go with them>Stardust gets delayed three more weeks til April 5Not sure if I'm going to want to go with them if it's delayed again. I'm sure it would be a fun day but it's a 9 hour drive each way and I'd have to go back eventually to ride Stardust. They do want to go to BGT as well but I was just there.

>>2870021By having four of them. WDW beats the Chinese parks taken as a whole
Let's discuss how we think AI is going to be used in theme parks. An obvious one is the CAD work that goes into rides and permitting. I think the backend stuff is gonna start going much faster. Materials will be sourced faster. It's gonna be easier to make rides. Another obvious one is crowd management. Not sure if they'd want to do this and nuke fastpass sales, but you could very easily implement a system now where each guest is steered around by their phones and spread everyone out keeping wait times low. I'm sure the Harvard MBAs will figure it out. Maybe an upcharge tier that just slots you out fastpass times all day and you walk on everything as long as you follow your personalized schedule. A less obvious one is I think a fully trackless ride is now possible. And I mean totally trackless. The ride would have a large themed area and the guests could "drive" the vehicle through it and make live choices for where they want to go and how they want to get there and AI could monitor the whole thing and adapt the experience around it.
>>2870033>Another obvious one is crowd management>no bro genie+ will work this time i swear>A less obvious one is I think a fully trackless ride is now possibleDisney just made the patent for cars land
>>2870029t. tampa autist
I hope the UK Universal Studios Park is good. The British have done a lot for the world over the years.
>>2870034>no bro genie+ will work this time i swearIf the premise is no wait times all day I think it will. Smart phone adoption is way different now so having the app just ping you and say "go to haunted mansion to walk on" seems like a dream for most families. >Disney just made the patent for cars landThat's on a track. Not what I'm talking about.
>>287003390% of it will be ride ops efficiency savings and stock management with the occasional bit of "ai has noticed if we put the bubble wands next to the minnie ears sales of both jump 20%" Speech synthesis will be a biggie. You could have a ride where dialogue is generated so you get one of 3 different scripts that are new everyday ( with a guy spending 20 minutes at the start of his shift checking for generated weirdness). You could have actors sounding like mickey or donald without needing to use a soundboard.Cant see signiglficant unsupervised AI being something implemented, too many things to.go wrong
>>2870039>That's on a trackWhat's your definition of a track?
>>2870045I mean that specific ride is going to have an actual track that the arm is mounted on similar to DK:MM. What I mean is similar to a normal trackless but immensely more open. Possibly even outside. Could be as simple as guests interacting with some console in the vehicle and that picking one of 3 routes, or as complex as a large open area that guests can navigate through themselves. Not sure if that would be as exciting but it is possible now
>>2869994I travel twice a year to parks and I have a season pass to the local six flags
>>2870031Hong Kong seems pretty underrated, at least crowds-wise, but I also hear good things about Mystic Manor and GrizzlyShanghai seems pretty soulless though
>>2870033The use case nowadays seems to be merch, the new Six Flags especially seems to like using it.

>>2869930Its insane how successful Dollywood is. https://youtu.be/iwgtRPu1aZQ?si=LK5r3fhrdK5T9mHF
>>2870122Is it true it’s the second most beautiful park in America after Busch Gardens Williamsburg? I really want to visit for Christmas so I can ride rollercoasters in the snow and ice
>>2870133It's been awhile since I've visited BGW, but Dollywood is definitely on par or perhaps even better. Being nestled in the Smoky Mountains really benefits it, and you feel completely removed from the outside world despite being right near a major tourist hub. It's one of the things that stood out the most to me when I visited.
>>2870148One of the few good things about British parks is that most of them are in the middle of nowhere. Alton Towers is the grounds if a stately home near and is near a small village on the edge of a national park. Most parks are either converted zoos/safari parks, stately homes or abandoned quarries/claypits (Universal UK is on a brickworks site)
>>2869994I just got back from DLR on 10/11/12 and had an unexpectedly (mostly) shitty time. Only positive was I met a bunch of really nice cast members who I gave complements to. I do not envy the job they have to do.
>Walk up to the entrance gate to the park you have been wanting to visit>You see this sign greeting youWhat do you do?
>>2870176That's such bullshit. By the time you've seen it, you've probably already spend a shitload
>>2870177Skill issue honestly. First for spending a shitload to go to a mid tier Six Flags. Second for going on opening day period. Third for not expecting most rides to be down.
>>2870021Thirdie delusions are all over social media.
>>2870173Why do you not envy it ? Its the best job I ever had. The culture is amazing and happy. Being built on white Christian ideals of humility, kindness, and service help a lot with the overall joy.
>>2869930I've been thinking about this a lot. You really have to be a Good Person to run a Disney park successfully. The culture that created Disney took joy in making families and children smile. It took joy in imagination and Innovation. UAE got rich from oil. Tourism is a whole other ballgame. Japan got it right because they have the humble, polite nature it takes to actually run a Disney park. Muslims are not Good People imho. Their religion was based on a pedophile who married a little girl. They slaughtered so many Armenians they could make mountains with the skulls. In fact they're so bad at providing customer service, they have to import workers from the Philippines. These jungle island guys are better than locals at service but subpar compared to the White Christian American ethic that created these companies. It will fail. They don't have the meek and gentle culture it requires.
>>2869930https://youtu.be/_GmjNTxr1T4?si=e0_FrF27pegzhU5mUrban explorer went to Discovery Island
>>2870217Because on the first day I went there was a hazmat situation in Tomorrowland that sent 7 CMs to the hospital and closed that part of the park, causing the food and wine crowds to surge so much that drunks in scooters were plowing into people waiting in line for their food. The next day there was a huge bomb/swatting hoax that almost got the pair evacuated and the day after that was a brutal heatwave. I would find it very difficult to stay positive and helpful in conditions like that but pretty much every CM I interacted with was extremely kind, friendly and knowledgeable. I don’t think I could do that job! It takes a lot of grit!
>>2870222Anyone who can be happy and positive while being a wagie in Orlando has mastered life. There are people with nine figure incomes who are miserable yet there the cast members are making $18/hr and perfectly content.
>>2869930I started watching Adam the Woo videos and it reminded me of the vid that got him banned from Universal. He goes onto an abandoned trail and finds old Jurassic Park automatons. The Rome video is so seasoned. He's very respectful to the Italians and shows all the rich history and amazing stuff they have there. The People are so beautiful too. https://youtu.be/MZnNya8xzbI?si=xe7ww_WP0ra-BsW0
>>2870223That's nearly twice what I made. Its still the best job I ever had. I'm glad the wages there are now livable.
>>2870222I think letting alcohol into the parks was a massive mistake no matter if they make a lot off it or not.
>>2870225Is that livable? It's been a while since I was a poor.
>>2870227Florida is a different ecosystem economy. What is poor elsewhere is middle class here. Cost of living is much lower. I've been cheating life in Florida for many years.
>>2870223You are around very beautiful and young people. You get into the parks whenever you want. You can dance the night away while still making money. You can make a lot of friends who also love Disney and do stuff with you.

>>2870966>How is it any different from a creeper hanging out at a kids playground?Cause it's not like that at all. That's how. You're comparing two diametrically opposed things. If a creepy guy was there doing creepy shit, then it would be, but some normal guy just riding it to check it out, it isnt inherent creepy unless you're one of those woke types that think all men are evil or some shit
>>2870977I’m a daughter dad, and if I see some middle aged man riding a kiddie ride, surrounded by little kids (and little girls esp on rides like Frozen), people are going to think he’s there to film little girls, not some harmless autistic sperg
>>2870985I mean I guess, but that doesn't mean its inherently the case. Depends entirely on the guy and his vibe and if you're ever there with a total weirdo, you, as a dad, just sit next to him with your kids on the other side. There's cameras and cops everywhere and I've never once heard a story about that sorta shit happening at disney on a ride. It's probably just an autistic guy
>>2870997> It's probably just an autistic guyExactly what a pedo would say. Honestly though, I can somewhat understand Disney adults where it’s some childless roastie that’s extending her feeling of being young so that she doesn’t have to face the grim reality of being a self interested genetic dead end, and some beta male orbiter that has to go along with the delusion so he gets the occasional blowjob, but some single dude riding kiddie rides and obsessed with stuff that’s created FOR CHILDREN, will never not be creepy. Add filming to it, and you turn that creep into a certified pedo.
>>2870920Frozen is for everyone.
>>2871008If he's filming and acting weird, that would be a red flag and obviously a reason to call security. But as a person who grew up knowing a deeply autistic guy that would love to go on rides, having people accuse him of being a pedo doesn't sit right with me. It's just entirely context-dependent.

>>2871037It's a dumb discourse anyways. It's ok to be pure of heart and enjoy things. Just don't be weird about it.
>>2871042Or you could, you know, make some kids and take them, or alternatively take your family. You’ll always look like a weirdo as a grown ass man riding rides meant for 6 year olds. Esp if you’re by yourself
>>2871043This is a really dumb argument. I don't go to Disney and I'm definitely not a Disney adult, but I don't automatically associate riding the Frozen ride with nefarious intent unless the guy is a walking red flag.Frozen isn't really fully a kids ride. Kids are gonna love it and it's the right amount of thrill for them, but an 80 year old grandma would also love it so is it a grandma ride too? If a mom brings her kids on the ride and smiles at something is she a terminal manchild? People gotta stop conflating family rides with kids rides. This is a kids ride. If I see a grown ass dude on this I'm assuming he came last in fantasy football or is drunk out of his mind

>>2871095Look I like themed parks more than coaster parks too but you'd have to pay me to ride the canal boats solo
>>2871168This. I’ll ride anything at Universal SeaWorld or Busch Gardens solo no problem, but Disney is SPECIFICALLY CREATED FOR TODDLERS AND SMALL CHILDREN. It’s basically a big fancy playground.
>>2871175Take that back. Idk if I’d ride Air Grover. Maybe after a few drinks and if there weren’t a shit ton of little kids with their parents there

>>2871183I would like to know the real story behind this thing. It's been SBNO for 4 years.
100% wolf coaster, gets points for looking not being a launch coaster. Looks a fairly fun family coaster with moderate airtime. Just a shame the backwards section is underwhelminghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nlVUvS3K7U
>>2871176I couldn’t bring myself to get on Trolls Trollercoaster.
>>2871190I have no idea what I just watched but that looks really fun! Never seen a LLM/ tire launch system hybrid before
>>2871188My favourite is Joris, rode it 30 times and loved it, never rode wooden coaster before as italy doesn't have any. Dark rides wise i'm between fata morgana and dance macabre, they are both thematically gorgeous, wanted the fata morgana room perfume but ryanair bitched about it and couldn't take it home :(

I really think they need a traditional white American guy in this role, not Jewish. They don't understand the wholesomeness we wanted in this company. Not the LGBT that Eisner brought.
>>2871175Hopefully you're joking. Disney is a clean safe place for all ages.
>>2871043I agree that the parks aren't meant for single people by themselves. But age has nothing to do with it.
>>2869930https://youtu.be/639ovdoJxzc?si=VB_k4ACOF07vjpgpThis show looks amazing
>>2871043No one has kids anymore boomer because you made life too expensive for anyone but the 1% and billionaires, get with the times
>>2871361I have 4 kids and I’m poor af. Probably gonna have another one
>>2871348That's pretty neat. Pretty effective use of projection mapping without it taking over the show. Wonder if Paris is going to replace the Wonderland show that everyone seems to hate.
>>2871373How big is the new Avengers ride at DCA? Seems like an obvious choice to put in that spot given its proximity to Avengers Campus. Since it's Paris they can even put in a half-baked version without the second ride just like they did for Frozen and planned to do for Star Wars.
>>2871376It'd fit comfortably with space to spare. It's a small footprint building (likely is a 2 floor ride). You could possibly fit it in by demolishing the hero training academy too. Can't see that happening though. Next phase of Adventure World is Lion King and Up (simple chair swing), after that, Avatar seems the most likely after that based on a big fuckup in the planning docs, likely built where Cars Road Trip is.
>>2871361You’ve got it so backwards it’s impressive. Life being expensive is what drives people to have kids. You think they’re having kids at the replacement rate in the Netherlands? Japan? Switzerland? Norway? Fuck no. You know who has fuckloads of kids? Nigerians. Everything is expensive for Nigerians and they have tons of kids. We need to make things more expensive if we want the birth rate to go up.
>>2871366>I have 4 kids and I’m poor af. Probably gonna have another oneDo you take them traveling and to the parks?
>>2871391Because they are still culturally at a barely industrial level where having lots of kids benefitted agricultural and labor intensive work. For those in the developed world, there is no inherent economic benefit to many children. In fact, because of the expenses associated with modern life, it's a detriment in the medium and long term, which migrants generally dismiss.
>>2871394They’re more culturally advanced than any other society on earth. Reproducing is the baseline for being a functioning society. Single cell organisms understood this 4 billion years ago but Europe, the US, China and many other places can’t grasp this today. The “””””developed””””” world is literally inferior to prokaryotes.

Last night I dreamt I was on Tower of Terror but it was significantly different. To set the scene, imagine that the existing tower is somehow like 5 times bigger and open on the inside. You first load onto a proper trackless vehicle ala Rise of the Resistance which takes you up and around at about midway up to tower. Theres a narrow but deep atrium all the way down to the ground level and the trackless vehicle takes you RIGHT on the edge with no guardrails whatsoever. Then the trackless vehicle stops, you unload and there's a small walkthrough attraction through various abandoned rooms. You take an elevator down (like a real one with no gimmicks) back to ground level where you board the second part of the ride which is simply what we have today mostly unchanged. My dream was implying this was all one ride but realistically it's more like Tower of terror had like 3 billion dollars poured into it and was more of an indoor miniland pavillion like The Land at epcot. It had elements of mystic manor, haunted mansion, walkthroughs in addition to the existing drop tower.I hate drops so ive only done ToT once in real life but the trackless car going up to and partially hanging over the ledge almost woke me up. I don't know if there could ever be something like that in real life.
>>2871549>Last night I dreamtdon't care about your dreams, bro. it's like flipping through a physical photo album: If I'm not in any of them, and nobody's having sex, I don't care
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_6-9kmD0bUTLDW: there's a rumour the next land at Paris after Lion King could be Moana rather than Avatar. They'd do another water ride, especially not a big splash one but the idea of every land at the park being dominated by a signature peak is a pretty neat concept. Avatar land being saved for a third gate also is believable.Maybe they could do an E-ticket family coaster along the lines of Expedition Everest? Especially if the Mandalorian coaster never happens.
>>2871593>third gate in Parisdo they really get large enough crowds to justify that?Fuckers should have found another site in Spain to build "EuroDisney".
>>2871595They're contractually obligated to build one by a certain date or else the French government takes that plot of land back. Hong Kong Disneyland had a similar arrangement that Disney let lapse and the Chinese government has already turned that unused second gate land into apartments.
>>2871552>don't care about your dreams, bro
>>2871596>>2871595I forget the exact rule but it's something like 2030 as a hard deadline and 20million visitors to trigger an ultimatum. They probably won't hit 20mill before 2030 but they might get within 2 mill. There's the question of what a third gate would look like but probably one of the three:>older focused park with more coasters and a clone of villains land>Fantasy Springs type dense fairytale land>Epic Universe style completely immersive lands (seems doubtful as that feels like what Adventure world should have been rather than watered down 1 ride, 1 food place, 1 shop)
>>2871593It's funny that DLP has gotten nothing new since the 2000s solely because the 2nd park is so shit it soaks up all the investment in Paris
>>2871600California Adventure is kinda comfy now tbdesu. It feels more fun than Hollywood Studios, at least.
>>2871599Visiting Fantasy Springs proved to me they can totally make highly detailed and immersive lands without having to be pigeonholed into a single IP. They should really head more in that direction rather than the single-IP lands.

If you could, you wouldn't be kvetching about a fundamental principle of our global economic system. Consoomerism is definitely a thing, and people absolutely waste money on stupid things. >>2871846It was Jurassic Park before they let it go and all the animatronics stopped working. The compies fighting over the employees shirt was my fav part, but they stoped working a long time ago
>>2871847Yeah, I'm not so optimistic about the refurb this year. Rather than just fix and update, I'm assuming they're changing it to Jurassic World like in Hollywood.World is fine overall as a singular ride, but I prefer the overall character of Park better. I have mixed feelings on how wet the ride can get too. Could be my imagination, but I feel like it got wetter after they installed those paid dryer machines outside the exit.
>>2871850Too many screens. Practical always > CGI but it costs more and goyslop lovers don’t really care so they don’t have to invest in it anymore
>>2871846Also I’m prob in the minority here but I really enjoyed Triceratops encounter. That was REALLY well done IMO>t. Still remember getting snotted on when the triceratops sneezed and having to remind myself it’s not an actual real life dinosaur

There is currently rumor going around that Spaceship Earth had a pipe burst yesterday and it fucked with some of the scenes or even the whole ride system That is not confirmed but what is known is did not open yesterday, looks like it is not opening today and the nightly light feature on the sphere was not on yesterday
>>2871920Did Disney's diversity efforts hit the maintenance team? Why is all their shit breaking and putting people in the hospital?
>>2871907I think pretty much all of them are Train plus a bus
>>2871922In this case they were planning the full upkeep refurbishment/ride system replacement in 2020 then Chapek/Iger used covid as an excuse to not fund it and it was scrapped They knew it was going to be an issue half a decade ago but decided to let it ride out until it broke to do something
>>2871922>>2871927Believe it or not sometimes shit happens

>>2871927The original plan was "Moana presents Spaceship Earth" basically>>2871929Yep, keeping the same sort of shows but steering it towards British history
>>2871893The main issue with the UK expansion of parks if frankly the weather sucks ass for a resort area, and one that current does not support any year round operations Will Universal UK just shut down for a few months like the other parks do?
>>2871893southern shandy drinkin bastards
>>2871893No Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Disregarded
>>2871931More like "Only historical moments we can attach a Disney movie to will be kept". Like the Moana Polynesian voyagers scene was supposed to replace the Phoenecians. With how that new version was supposed to be about human storytelling, it totally would have culminated in jerking off Walt.
>>2871932Paris arguably has worse weather. The issue with UK weather is that it's mediocre, grey and drizzly for 3-4 months. More and more parks are lengthening the season though with Halloween, guy Fawkes and Christmas events. Most half open in Feb too, Merlin getting rid of their water rides could be part of a strategy to make the parks more winter friendly (Alton Towers was supposed to get a big indoor coaster that doesn't look like it's happening)>>2871934It's almost a 5 hour drive....
If the Disney UAE project still happens I think it could be a huge proof of concept for the future of indoor fully immersive parks that can make climate obsolete for a year round theme parkIf they can reasonably do it then suddenly a smaller scale 3rd US Disney park in the northeast or midwest does not sound far fetched. The main issue of cold weather and snow reducing the operating schedule that prevented prior attempts would be resolved

Minecraft coaster looks to be more Gringotts than Hagrids. Very short track, going to be reliant on showscenes and a turntable element to keep the ride time high.
>>2872152> not actually hooking up with themI think that’s a skill issue. I’m a millennial and I first started getting laid on vacations as a teenager by just going up to chicks and saying hello, or asking for the time. If you’re in a swimsuit the time thing always works bc you don’t have a watch or phone. Then you just start chatting and they prob want somebody to go out and do stuff with too. Then if you like eachother you hook up and hopefully bang. It’s not really rocket science
>>2872169>I’m a millennial and I...

>>2872207Is that the mom from Rugrats?
>>2872212Only problem with Dr Oddfellow as an icon is he indirectly harms the guests by signing contracts to take their souls which is too vague a concept to be scary unless you're obscenely religious. The best icons have a direct and obvious way of harming the guests. The icons have been slowly losing their mojo as IP has taken over the event. The old commercials were essentially snuff films on broadcast television and it just doesnt hit the same now

Universal sent me a passholder survey concerning adding Epic Universe to my annual pass. They gave 3 options they are considering:1. Limit passholders to weekdays (mon-thu) and require reservations2. Giving passholders 10 admissions within a 3 month window. 3. Letting passholders purchase 3 admission bundles at heavily discounted rates. They mentioned hypothetical future 3 park passes with epic as being double the price of existing passes. They also asked about a few passholder perks they're considering adding:>Keeping the parks open later an extra hour for APs like a reverse EPA>Giving out express for certain rides on certain days as a perk>Giving discounted pricing based on the amount of visits you make in a year/the amount spent in the parks>Giving long time passholders unique perks/discounts>Expanding the Backlot system and letting people earn actual rewards from it including "at home play"

There might have been a concept leak for the oft-rumored Shanghai second park (aka Project Atlas) and it is increasingly looking like they are getting Epcot 2. Heard before the rumor where they would differentiate by not having a world showcase and instead having more environmental sections.
>>2872410I think the one in green is having a stroke.

>>2872423Westcot will never happen now because it is too similar of experiences to Epcot to justify investing that much into and get a payoff from since they want people visiting both resorts. Meanwhile they could get away with the concept being recycled if it is halfway across the world The 90s attempt was its only chance
You know how Nintendo has this dumb contract with Universal Studios that unless the ride debuts in Japan they can’t make it in America, I wonder if there is some loopholes in that clone rethemed attractions are allowed. >>2873039Most likely just a meet and greet and merch.
>>2873039>>2873041The one thing that gets me to think they will implement Star Fox is how the whole Zelda movie thing turned out and there were obviously big plans Universal wanted to do with it by having the movie rights. >>2873071Thoosie anons will defend this btw
>>2873010They are not going to, I know people are on Star Fox getting this endless media now because of this appearance but it is clearly meant to put a Smash movie together and Star Fox being niche enough to only get a Mario Movie cameo as his intro means he is too niche for a ride or theme especially when they have Zelda and Pokémon and Animal Crossing readyOnly way Star Fox would get anything is if they did somehow make a film and it was a billion dollar hit
>>2873095Who cares about a smash movie? If they don’t think Fox McCloud makes money, they wouldn’t put him in any movie as a teased character with a last minute poster reveal. That is not the kind of treatment expected for a character/franchise they don’t have plans for.The issue with Star Fox was never the property or its popularity. We have many Nintendo franchises with actual issues with it, like PIKMIN. It’s all about Nintendo being unsure on making a profitable gameplay model for the franchise but perhaps that’s changing soon. And there are tons of rumors about it.> somehow make a film and it was a billion dollar hitIt’s releasing on April. Everyone will know who he is and his toy will get released. Donkey Kong used the first movie as his vehicle to success.

>>2873109Because the first movie already covered Mario Kart

>>2873109They love slop.
I wonder if the whole ghost busters rumor and Luigi’s Mansion rumor was just Universal’s way of preventing their attractions from getting completely leaked by giving them completely different names.Theme Park Stop notably gotten tripped up on Hollywood Drift by suggesting it was a ghost busters coaster. And during that whole section of its construction, they’ve filled it to the brim with extreme gas lighting by referencing other franchises.Luigi’s Mansion could be another ghost busters, and the actual attraction relates a lot more to the Mario Galaxy movie to prevent anything about it from getting leaked.

>>2873241>I just don't think there's enough evidence to support a prediction of a huge enough surge in popularity to warrant an attraction/expansion.Donkey King was literally in the same situation back in the days of the first Mario movie. And Universal already expressed plans in doing stuff with Pikmin. If anything, I have a lot more doubts for expansions and plans for properties Universal has NO film rights in, or what they think doesn’t cater to an American audience. They want Donkey Kong and Star Fox because those franchises would work a lot better with their American audiences (historically proven) than Kirby and Splatoon. And I suppose Pikmin for them is basically minions and Jurassic park combined. The real limits about them and SNW is how SNW wants you to be a Mario character for the power up band. No villains. That maybe the leaks of the power up bands for Rosalina and Toadette is for a Star Fox (or space IP land) mini-land and a Zelda mini-land respectively.
>>2873226For me it's Crystal Palace
>>2873244>Donkey King was literally in the same situation back in the days of the first Mario movie.I don't even want to read the rest of your post since I can't trust it when you start off with something so stupid and wrong.Donkey Kong is incredibly more popular than Star Fox, as an older character with more games, an animated film, and more universal recognizability. In no way was Donkey Kong "in the same situation". Shut the fuck up.
CEO of Autism James now has 25,000 rides on Arieforce One.
>>2873247People like you always need a punch in the face to remember your ego dies upon your own mortality. Just like Disney does. They have Fox McCloud on the poster of the Mario Galaxy movie. They have a line up of two games in a row for it. They’ve spent several years in the background for this character and his franchise. They put him in a museum for what they’ve considered to be their biggest franchises. The real issues with him and his franchise was the lack of structure it had in the games side of thing and the lack of Multi-media they should’ve done with him. This is a Nintendo and Universal that already gotten success from Mario and Donkey Kong. And they will know about A Fox in Space and how it gotten a massive amount of attention upon its launch. And they don’t need advertising money to remind people about him when they’ve attached him to a billion dollar making movie with a big star playing him.
>>2873253>Oh My Science>There's a heckin' Star Fox on a poster, and playing a minor role in the Mario movie>This proves that Universal is making a Star Fox attraction because it's going to be HUGEThe funny thing is, I'd actually enjoy Star Fox in one of the parks and would eat my words if it becomes a thing. I just don't think there's enough out there to support your assertions. And you express your thoughts like a dullard and are incapable of addressing this like a reasonable person.
>>2873258I am a reasonable person. And I despise people like you and can’t stand the amount of tolerance I have to reserve for your horrible fuck ass of a personality. You like Star Fox, yes, and yet you act like a total fuck ass cunt to me after j have said there are leaks about him having big plans in the making under the hands of Nintendo and Universal that I didn’t EVER expect. Two games, even a movie, and yet you act like a pissy bitch to me when I suggest that this character and his franchise that has a stronger hold by Universal than their failed grasps on Zelda and Metroid, would have at least some kind space-themed mini area for him to be present in at SNW.

>>2873320> some implausibly obscure Nintendo character That would be Chibi Robo, Rob, Game and Watch, Captain Falcon, Kid Icarus, and even Samus. And to tell the truth, I don’t think he was in the plans for Universal until they were having rights issues with Zelda and Metroid that they outright yanked him to make up for those losses. That maybe he was simply taking some concepts/roles they’ve had originally intended for with Samus and Metroid. But critical is not in your coomer brain anymore.

Is the left of USJ’s Water World the parking lot they’re going to use for a SNW expansion?
>>2873472What is USJ? What is SNW?
>>2873474Universal Studios Japan. And Super Nintendo World. They had an interview about making expansion plans in the parking lots of the place since the whole park is completely constructed with little to no spare land left. And it is relevant because Nintendo had a stupid contrived deal for any rides and attractions to be built in USJ first then other places in the world.
>>2873477Checked. That makes sense. I haven’t been to Japan yet but from what I hear that have actually efficient and safe public transportation so removing the parking lot for all and that actually produces will be a no-brainer you would think. I may be wrong, but who knows. They could always build another parking lot and have a park and ride situation.
>>2873477I also REALLY like that they make all the other parks wait for attractions until AFTER the Japanese already have them. That’s putting values before profits and is super based >and I don’t even like japs. They literally shot down my uncle. Fuck em

>>2873479Kinda. Donkey Kong at Epic and USJ were built around the same time. And they already have some listings for a SNW expansion triggering in Epic.

Can you imagine how many family vacations are ruined by the Hagrid's Motorcycle having a sidecar? If you have a standard family with two kids, one of your kids has to sit in the objectively gayer sidecar. The line is too long to ride it twice, so you cant just ride again and swap places. It presents a Sophie's Choice dilemma for parents. One of your kids is going to be permanently psychologically damaged by being forced to ride in the sidecar instead of the much cooler motorcycle and that trauma will follow them the rest of their lives. It's a direct pipeline from the Hagrid's Sidecar to dropping out of College and Meth Addiction.
>>2873623That coaster was 10/10 top 5 for me until I got the sidecar. Now I’m not sure what to do with it.
Seaworld passholder surveys are out and a 300ft tall coaster is two of the 4 options. The other two options are indoor launch coasters.
>>2873639I presume they mean a B&M giga or dive? Those things are getting stale. I'd rather see a Vekoma or Intamin giga
>>2873623The parents go in the sidecar the kids go on the bikes
>>2873642Now they don't respect their parents and it's straight to the crackpipe. Only viable solution is kids go in the sidecars and they just develop normal parental resentment and put you in a shitty nursing home to be beaten to death by a 300lb Haitian woman.
>>2873640>Vekoma Do they even make those?>IntaminThey get BTFO by B&M in the classic hyper model. Don’t get me wrong, their rides are better, but the reliability issues mean any park that chooses them over B&M today is run by fools. Parks will choose a 9/10 B&M over a 10/10 Intamin every time.
My school went to Dollywood in 2007. It didn’t have many coasters back then, and the only ones I remember riding was Tennessee Tornado and Blazing Fury. Mystery Mine was in the part of the park we didn’t see until the end of the day, so we didn’t get to ride it. Seeing people fly out of the mine into that zero g stall has been etched in my memory for 19 years. 19 years of regret that my group didn’t go the other way upon entering the park. It’s no longer just memory and regret though, because I finally rode it today.Unfortunately it was shit.

>>2873654Big Bear Mountain on the other hand, wow. As good of a family coaster layout as I’ve ever seen.

>>2873656Those little babies just want to build a nest. I’m a man and I would use that cutie’s hair to build a nest too
>>2873665The first giga dates back 26 years. At that time Vekoma's reputation was in the gutter, parks only bought SLCs and boomerangs from them. Different story now
>>2873639>The other two options are indoor launch coasters.Makes sense.
>>2873672Traditional hypers date to 1989 and they haven’t even made one of those yet. No one is going to roll the dice on them making a giga. Not Sea World anyway.

>>2873684No that's a new City Walk allegedly. I assume for things like Horror Unleashed: Orlando
>>2873679>Traditional hypers date to 1989 and they haven’t even made one of those yet.Vekoma went over 200 feet with a sit-down and going up another 100 feet doesn't present an engineering or materials science obstacle>No one is going to roll the dice on them making a giga. This has been said about so many rides over time. "Oh they could never do that, they've never done it before," and then it gets done. Remember how thoosies said Zamperla could never rebuild TTD? I'm so glad thoosies don't run parks
>>2873694What the fuck is a thoosie?
>>2873694It’s not about what they’re technically able to do, it’s what parks are going to pay them to do, which is not making a giga when they have no track record of making traditional hypers. Conversely, B&M forgot how to make roller coasters, so maybe this will open the door for Vekoma. I’d like to see RMC’s take on them first though.
>>2873706Same thoosie logic. "Well they've never done it so we're not going to take a chance." If parks thought like that nothing new would get built and we'd all be ranking our top 10 wooden out-and-backs
>>2873707Hyper coasters aren’t new, they’re 37 years old and there are at least two established names that would be called well before Vekoma.
>>2873708But Vekoma has built a hyper, and there's no reason to suggest they're incapable of building a giga. And they would for any park that asked.
>>2873656>this is fine
>>2873695It’s what Disney adults call men who actually have sex
>>2873710They haven’t built a traditional hyper which is the topic here. Also this still applies:>>2873706>It’s not about what they’re technically able to do, it’s what parks are going to pay them to do, which is not making a giga when they have no track record of making traditional hypers
>>2873716>They haven’t built a traditional hyper which is the topic here.Still a hyper, and a much more complex hyper at thatIntamin built their first 300+ footer (and it was their first magnetic launched coaster) several years before they built a hyper. The idea that manufacturers have to follow a certain order like they're unlocking a tech tree is thoosie delusion
1. Blazing Fury 9/102. Lightning Rod 8.5/103. Big Bear Mountain 8.5/104. Thunderhead 8/105. Firechaser Express 7.5/106. Dragonflier 7.5/107. Wild Eagle 6.5/108. Tennessee Tornado 6/109. Mystery Mine 5/10Plenty of great, not much elite, though they’re clearly targeting families (or Lightning Rod would have inversions), and it’s a great lineup for families. Theming, food, shows, music, setting and museums are all top notch.Almost feels weird putting Blazing Fury #1 but it’s the only one I wouldn’t mind being on for an hour straight. The dark ride portion is pure uncanny valley, and thanks to the buzzbars, the air time at the end might be the best in the park.
>>2873712Robb Alvey is unfortunately the only thoosie that has canonically had sex
>>2873720fucking lol
Epcot was an admittedly terrible idea for a theme parkYou don’t have an easy in for Disney characters and it became unappealing for the core demographic of families until they forced them in with halfass thematic reasoning On one side you have the Future World attractions, which were great modern rides… until they and their idea of the future naturally become outdated and need to be updated and replaced, and not only that they needed to after 10 years vs ever 25+ years companies prefer for budgeting, but also that close to EVERY Future World attraction needed to be updated the same time.On the other hand you have World Showcase, which is great… until first you realize they barely can squeeze attractions into most the park, then also if countries sour against the host country and it becomes a target, which they lucked out with only China is vearing as hostile from their lineup. Could you imagine the target the park would be now if the planned Israel, Iran, and Russia pavilions happened? It is a miracle it worked out and eventually found its festival niche.
>>2873795World Showcase should always have been a Disney Springs type area and nothing will change my mind
>>2873795I always joked that Overwatch was Epcot if it was a video game
>>2873795I dont agree. I think it's just the same cancer killing the rest of the parks. IP given preference over original ideas. If the rides are cool, it doesnt matter the theme and there's an infinite goldmine when a park's theme is future technology. You literally cannot run out of ideas for rides
>>2873795Most of Future World's rides were about the past with a future scene tacked on as the end. Even the ride directly about the future was half "Look at all the ways we used to imagine the future" before making its own predictions.
At least they were able to take the jibes about their terrible new logo in good spirit

And the Kingda Ka spinner replacement will be >375 ft tallLol please take this park out to the back and shoot it
>>2873858Oh god, why couldn’t it have been shorter???
>>2873844It's clearly AI
>>2873858Seems like such a weird ride. Mega long uncomfortable stall with a launch, a spiral tower to hide that it's not very steep and the difference in spinning between a balanced car and an imbalanced one will be insane as most of the spinning will probably come from acceleration.
>>2873886Thanks for translating to non-luddite.

>>2873900It feels like the definition of TikTok the coasterSomething very gimmicky yet unusually wonky and insane sounding elements (such as an inversion launch) for social media attention and future videos about it
>>2873900>>2874038I agree w/ both. It just doesn't look like a good coaster. Very gimmicky.Everyone's going to get off of it thinking "That was fine but I wish they still had Kingda Ka."
>>2874023It should be replaced with SpongeBob or pokemon
>>2873817Again the strict theme is the issue. It is the same why Tomorrowland had issues until they decided for a retro futuristic theme It is that with innovation these rides get outdated, corny, and have things breaking down quick. Instead of the usual 25-30 years they have to update every 10 to keep up to date. Which itself is not an issue for one ride but when you have a whole area like Future World and 6 rides need renovation at once it stretches your budget bad. Part of the reason the 90s updates were so bad is they all came up at once. And all the buildings to this day feel stuck in the 80sThe first 10 years was possibly the greatest park ever made, but that is why it was for only the first 10
>>2874092no it shouldn't.
>Imagine… a future where people drive cars to get around
>>2874243It refers not to the future of society in general but the future of the small children who ride it. >One day in the future you will get to drive cars around!More and more I appreciate the speedway because it goes against everything Disney adults worship.
>>2874244Sounds like a retcon. Pretty sure the real reason was just to get a six flags tier ride into the park.
>>2874244>>2874247I mean the actual reason is probably just "it was at Disneyland and people like it"I'm surprised one of the autopias hasn't been rethemed to have like mars rovers or something
>>2874247>get a six flags tier ride into the park.well damn, Universal didn't even bother with an excuse, they just brought one in as an opening ride for Epic Universe
>>2874244It was originally built when freeways and interstates were a brand new thing.
>>2874261Car culture was already well established though.
I had two boss level thoosies in front of me in the line for the front row on Pantherian. One was the worst passing troon ever. If it didn’t have tits I would have thought it was just a dude with really long hair and pink shoes. It didn’t even bother shaving its side burns. The other was a guy who looked 30 and 70 at the same time. Completely gray hair but a young face, about 5 foot 0.
Speaking of car culture, what was the first park to do the Radiator Springs type area so many parks have? Not literally from the Cars movie, but with the 50s hamburger diner, the garage/gas station buildings, the classic rock and the classic car themes. Just this week I’ve seen them in Six Flags Over Georgia, Dollywood, and Kings Dominion. There’s also Hollywood Stufios of course and I’m sure I’ve seen it elsewhere.
>>2874278Americana and small town USA theming is so common as to be impossible to track and there are probably a bunch of parks that were around in the 50s/60s that have just kept buildings from that era.In terms of specifically Route 66. The cars ride at Paris, although shitty predates radiator springs and the surrounds are route 66 inspired but it may not count as it's a sub-area rather than a land.
>>2874292There's also the Sante Fe hotel which already had route 66 theming in the 90s before getting a fairly lazy Cars retheme in 2010
https://riderater.co.uk/12800/alton-towers-project-horizon-inches-forward/It's actually alive. Still not fucking fully approved for planning permission. The building seems slightly bigger than the Galacticoaster one (marginally bigger footprint but significantly taller) . Seems the most obvious ride type to me, If they can use the extra height to make the coaster another 10-20 seconds longer it'd be solid, especially as there aren't any Cosmic Rewind type coasters here.
>>2874112>It is that with innovation these rides get outdated, corny, and have things breaking down quick. Instead of the usual 25-30 years they have to update every 10 to keep up to dateAgain, I strongly disagree. Every single thing that was featured in Horizons is still relevant today. It's actually more relevant today because it shows where we missed the mark now that we're living in the timeline the ride was supposed to exist in. The issue you're describing could be remedied in much the same way that they already remedied it. They knew when they designed EPCOT that the park needed another element. So they added the tour of nations half. It ties together the broader theme of mankind's destiny pretty well imo. If they added a third tangentially related theme such as an area themed entirely to ancient history it would have allowed them to balance the issue you are describing by creating attractions that were by their nature evergreen. Could have done Greek Mythology with Hercules, the renaissance with Quasi Modo, etc if you wanted to keep with the trend of Zogifying everything good about the parks.

>>2874446It's be funny if it actually ended up being a compact RMC model after all the trolling by Merlin about getting one over the years. It's possible there's action happening now because they need to scramble for a replacement for the David Walliams area around the corner from it, good chance to add a bit themed zone (although given it's against the Towers walls the planning permission will be a bitch).Annoyingly as it's 100% indoors, the ride system will be a mystery until it's actually building. On other news... Is this even going to be comfortable? Isn't the point of a stall turn that it makes you feel you're going to fall into the restraints just as it ends, with a stall turn and it spinning no way they can keep you pressed into the seats for as long as it needs to
>>2874456>RMC at Merlin ParkWon’t happen because it will need metal detectors and that means more ride staff and training new staff every year for one ride. Not viable when it’s a seasonal park that doesn’t typically have returning staff (I bet they’re regretting the bag drop off idea because it means paying more staff). The only chance is they put netting everywhere under the ride like Rita recently
>>2874469It's all indoors so they wouldn't need it. Almost certainly a family coaster anyway.
>>2874342>The issue you're describing could be remedied in much the same way that they already remedied it. Again that they had to remedy it in the first place by making Future World not exist anymore was admission the concept failed. They tried in the 90s/00s in the Eisner era to keep the theme while updating the rides and we know that was largely a failure. Future World was a bad ideaNow if they made it World Discovery from the start and had it be what humans as a whole have done or what the world is like (tying into World Showcase) that might have aged better, eased the required revamp at once load and made it easier to revamp so we did not get shit like the Guardians coaster which breaks the theming entirely
>>2874494Naming convention should have been X Showcase instead of World X
>>2874446>exactly what a spastic would say. I bet you rush around parks trying to get everything done in a day. congrats you have the mentality of a psychotic high maintenance mumAd hominem fallacy.
>>2874405>The mark should be optimistic. That's the entire point of EPCOTDoesn’t mean Disney’s imaginings should be the mark, or are relevant at all. Notice how the actual idea for EPCOT did immediately upon his death. Good ideas live after their creator.
>>2874446>because its a good rideNo it’s not. It’s a family coaster that only entertains children. That makes it bad. It’s shit tier compared to good family coasters like Big Bear Mountain.
>>2874511>Good ideas live after their creator. That's an imbecilic standard. You're essentially saying we should abandon any ideal that is a creation of a dreamer that fell short. Nonsense.
>>2874446I do Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure both in a single day and always have. There’s simply not enough stuff in either park to fill more than half a day
How are British anons coping (in the literal sense of the word, not the newfangled meme slang sense) with the anticipation for Universal Studios UK aka Universal United Kingdom Resort?
>>2874561Looking forward to it. I’m hoping it involves classic universal film industry movie making because of Britain’s long film history with the major studios. The other international parks I consider not worth a visit (looking at YOU Singapore).Like euro Disney I hope it gives a big boost to the other parks in this country. There’s a huge gap in hospitality from the current parks compared to universal
The more I look at Disneyland Forward more I see what the real end result will be >The left portion by the hotels (Simba Lot) will not have any attractions at all. There will be no expansion to Disneyland or DCA and they will not ask guests to go over tiny ass bridges to get to hard to reach attractions. This will be hotel expansions and maybe some retail expansions so it holds all potential lodging they could ever need>Toy Story Lot will be park #3
>>2874560Look at Mr. Moneybags here, with his Express Pass and his speed-walking shoes.
>>2874625You can knock out both parks without express with good planning and hustle. Single-rider is a cheat code. If you're smart you can be done with all of Islands of Adventure before 10am. Depends on what time of the year you go
>>2874632>you can be done with all of Islands of Adventure before 10amSince you've indicated single-day admission, that implies no resort stay or early-park admission. Therefore, at best, that's 8:00-9:59. I already know you're dismissing the kids rides: Cat in the Hat, Pteranodon, One/Two/Red/Blue Fish, Caro-Seuss-el, Seuss Trolley, Hippogriff, Hogwarts Express. For the sake of argument, you might even be a chode and say Doom's Fearfall and Storm Force aren't worth it and not included either. That said, and being quite generous to your presumed points and claim of no Express Pass, I refuse to believe you can accomplish the following in under 2 hours:>Spider-man>Hulk>King Kong>Jurassic Park (yes, I'm aware of the refurb, N/A this year)>Velocicoaster >Forbidden Journey>Hagrid's >Dudley Do-Right>Popeye
>>2874632>>2874654Likewise, with the same parameters of presumably excluding Minion Blast, Minion Mayhem, Kang and Kodos', Animal Actors, and all the newer Dreamworks stuff, there's no way you could accomplish the following in just a few hours.>Jimmy Fallon>Mummy>Fast and Furious>Transformers>Gringotts>Men in Black>Simpsons>E.T.>Bourne>Horror Make-up>Rip Rockit (prior to last summer)Although, just to win the argument, I'm sure you'll strike Jimmy Fallon, Fast and Furious, Rip Rockit (accounting for attending the park within the last several months), and both shows off the list just to assert it's realistic to finish Studios' 6 rides and Islands' 9 in a single day.
>>2874654Im pretty sure you have to be 12 and under to ride half of that shit. And I know for a fact you have to be to ride Pteranodon
>>2874658A parent can ride Pteranodon with his kid.
>>2874654>>2874655Great job typing all that shit out. I never said without EPA. I said without express. If you stay in a hotel like that anon did, you can knock out all of harry potter before 8:30, then go to Velocicoaster and hit that a few times. Then the rest of the park is a cakewalk and you can wrap it up Islands before Studios even opens. The day you choose to go is vastly more important than any other variable.
>>2874561It's so long away...But then so was Epic Universe. Having a world class park I hop on a train to is exciting. At least there's going to be a few years of speculation and full on construction from scratch is always fun to follow. Unlike Epic Universe where 95% of the park was known from the offset, this park has maybe 30% rides known, another speculated and the rest with guessed themed but unknown rides. Universal don't seem to have been too leaky so far (outside of the land purchase being spotted but that was kinda inevitable)
>>2874663>I never said without EPA. I said without express. You said there wasn't enough in both parks to fill more than a half day. 1) What type of retarded dummy would pay to stay on-resort just to speed-run everything in an apparent half-day? 2) Irrelevant. I only mentioned that to preempt your inevitable seething and equivocation. Nothing you said supports your moronic argument that it's realistic to finish both parks that quickly.>knock out all of harry potter before 8:30, then go to Velocicoaster and hit that a few times. Then the rest of the park is a cakewalk and you can wrap it up Islands before Studios even opensThere's no such thing as a true "off-season" anymore. I don't care when you go. There's no way, without express, that someone is hitting up Velocicoaster, Spiderman, Hulk, Kong, Dudley, and Popeye's all between 8:30 and 10:00.
>>2874666>Having a world class park I hop on a train to is exciting.
>>2874675Eurostar no longer stops direct to Marne la Vallée, you have to change at Lille. Plus it's fucking expensive and you need to go through border control
>>2874680Fair, but I was making a joke that UK Universal won't be a (train accessible) "world class park", while Disney is one.
>>2874670Popeye only opens at 10am too. Anyway getting all of Harry Potter done by 8:30am means arriving at the gate at 6:30am and running everywhere when the place opens. What’s the point even going. It’s like enjoying the idea of getting on rides only and hating actually being in the park itself
>>2874684NTAIt’s not that being in the park is bad. It’s that there is a time limit to be in one.
>>2874405>What did you like about it?Speed mostly. I've never not liked a roller coaster that went faster than 84. Great drop too. I was originally disappointed looking at the layout because it didn't follow the usual hyper style of a series of big hills, but now I see why they did that. It gives some intensity without causing discomfort.
>>2874538It’s not abandoning if we never adopted it in the first place. And it’s more of a dream or idea than an “ideal”.
>>2874710It's not about adoption. It's about striving. Why would Disney not be about dreams? They're the dream company...or should be. Even if we never get mars colonies or dyson-spheres, it's worth holding those as long term goals so EPCOT is important.
>>2874712That’s a different topic. This topic is you moping because humanity doesn’t look like a 1980s dark ride when no one even agreed to make that dark ride the goal, let alone in the time frame specified by it.
Who's stepping up to make the next thread? I'm too retarded, and people would just complain if I did it.
>>2874717>>2874718Nevermind. I just did it.
>>2874717Who cares most of the posts are just complaining about Disney anyway
New thread:>>2874718>>2874718>>2874718I'm a retard and forgot to remove the "Lost Continent Edition" when I copy-pasted.
>>2874713>this nigga literally opposed to dreaming>this nigga literally opposed to shooting for the stars
