Backpage.com got shut down by the Feds in 2018. The owners were charged with facilitating prostitution, and the CEO was sentenced to prison time. Other escort sites were similarly targeted and shut down.
As a result, other US websites stopped hosting hooker related content and ads. Craigslist pulled ALL of their adult content and personal ads.
Whoever owns 4chan saw this and followed suit, it just took a couple of years. The website servers might be based in Russia or whereverthefuck but for sure some of the owners are American, and subject to American law. So why take the risk with any prostitution related sex talk?
