Then why do the Japanese have to resort to making japanese kdramas now?

46 years ago the average blockbuster looked like this, it shared the billboard with at least 3 other flicks just as good, all competing for the eyes of your average middle class family
at the time of course these were all considered "just turn off your brain" entertainment
the tickets were two dollars and film critics saw them as too low-brow to dignify with a review

It made most of their money back after being nominated and being awarded best movie. And even with that boost, it failed to crack into the top 25 box office of 1985. Fucking Breakfast club (arguably more a low brow movie) made 10 millions more than it.

These threads always shy away from naming the old = good. If the same lack of charity that new releases are condemned with were to be applied to older ones, there suddenly would be almost no good movies left.

2) why not take Tár as a fitting current-day counterpart, and it's even again

More like 3rd spaces lost their relevance against the house. Modern houses have accest to amenities and entertaiment that render obsolete the idea of going out to the movies.

...again. No, you're right there. You can have it, though. As another poster said recently, there's enough decent Star Trek already; we don't need any more.

Not included in your posts, btw: any actual argument in defence of this show's content.

alright I will check it out because you have a good attitude over someone that doesn't like what you do.
imdb is pretty good at rating though lol
>>
>>217480684
Not really, when it comes to horror, I noticed that 4 and above, like 4-6, are actually pretty good.
Time and time again I look up not too well known movies I have seen or about to watch, and I know that if it is a 4, it is/can be good.
>>
>>217480684
Gotta know how to cater the imdb rankings to horror. A 4, can be good, especially for genre fans.
A 4 can be 7/10 for genre fans. This is what happens when you’re not a casual of the genre.

Just finished this and it is pretty comfy. Good one time watch with Norse folklore instead of Catholic church.
Pretty much a viking norse mythology in a modern setting exorcism movie.

Bros, I almost exposed my mom to posting “it.”
I was in the car with my Mom and Dad after spending my 23rd birthday at a restaurant with them and I was talking about a Japanese place I ate at with a friend and found a picture of some eel I ate. My mom asked me to give the phone to see it better so I did but then she mistapped and it switched to next photo which was fucking Colette holding the zucchini and my Mom stared at it for 5 seconds. I then immediately yanked the phone from her hand (may have bruised her wrist too) and told her “wrong one!!” while desperately trying to not spill my spaghetti. She asked what it was and I told her it was a Ratatouille picture. She said I didn’t need to worry about having Ratatouille pictures on my phone or what’s on my phone in general and we stayed silent the rest of the drive.

The idea that she loved that fat manchild tokita was more immersion breaking than any of the weird visuals. I refuse to believe a single person who glazes this movie found that emotional or touching in any way.

I recognized her in that movie before it became famous. I want to say "Bastard Out of Carolina" but that was Jena Whatsherface.
Actually, wild guess, but is it something like, "Cordelia, Cordelia?". Oh fuck! Nvmd, I knew her from "Waterworld" my brain started working.

Tim created a while new genre of comedy and you can see his impact in World Peace, Tim Tobinson, etc. World Peace 1 is funny thoughbeit - but you had to be there, the whole schtick is beyond played out now. its freshness was what made it great.

In a comedy duo the straight man is usually more talented, Kenan can be silly but also react to shit as opposed to Kel who could only be silly. Think about the three stooges, we all love Curly but Moe is the most important character.

Ironically enough, at least from what i can tell, is that a lot of feminists actually hate the term sex-worker. They see it as men sugarcoating their "exploitation of women".
>>
>>217480785
This, actually. Prostitution was never something you “wanted” to do. I’m not going to moralize the profession but anyone who gets stuck whoring themselves out is looking for any way out of it.

I think most prostitutes end up doing it because they were abused as children. In my experience it was rare to meet escorts who were doing it because they just liked the idea of it; there was usually some traumatic backstory. And the ones who weren't abused seem like they were genetically predispositioned to be whores.
