Superman killed his race and left destruction in the wake. Wonder Woman lost the love of her life and saw humans fight each other anyway after Ares was gone. Batman, despite not gaining a movie, originally would have an origin movie where he loses Robin and see little change. BvS was about them trying to at first dodge and blame others for their trauma, before confronting their demons and go on a path of redemption. This leads to Justice League were they try to redeem themselves. Even the new heroes introduced like Aquaman, the Flash and Cyborg are traumatic individuals that learn to step up and find some sort of healing.
