Apologize. Kill Tony is the best thing in comedy and I'm tired of contrarians pretending it isn't. They somehow managed to pull off an incredible show at Madison Square Garden and was not hindered even slightly by Netflix bullshit. Everything worked.
Mark Normand was hilarious
Jim Norton was hilarious
Dave Attell was hilarious
Joe Derosa was hilarious
Tony was hilarious
Ari Matti was hilarious
Timmy no Brakes was hilarious
Matt Rife had a few good jokes and even I don't care about that motherfucker. Even guys like David Lucas and Hans Kim had a surprisingly good showing.

Calling it now. Not only will this show surpass Rogan as the biggest podcast in the world, but I guarantee it will be the biggest weekly show on Netflix once it inevitably leaves YouTube.

Tony Hinchcliffe is unlikable and unfunny. Simple as. I'm not being a "contrarian" I just don't like him and he doesn't make me laugh
>>
>>214040781
You don't like Tony because you don't watch him. Your entire perception is based around the opinions of youtubers who cry about his ego. If you actually gave him a chance, you would see he's a quick witted guy who can keep up with some of the best comedians in the world when he's invested. You don't magically have the biggest comedy show in the world by not being funny. That's just a dumb take.

>>

Don’t care. Kill Tony is gay as fuck now. You “blow up” after one set, make a YouTube channel and get tons of views. Also, David Lucas isn’t funny at all. He’s just some fat sloppy braindead nigger who got lucky. William Montgomery is the only legitimate comedian out of them all, especially from the earlier days.
>>
>>214041284
modern chappelle being funny is that. all he does is preach obvious shit and whine about trannies like the rest of em. "one of the greats" my ass. killing them softly was, however, very funny.

>two comedians who built their careers in the NY comedy scene while Rogan was in LA
>Roganverse
I swear you people don't even know what the Roganverse is anymore. Any time a comedian comes along that Joe ends up liking, you automatically shoehorn them in with Rogan's LA friends who's careers who built upon their association with Rogan. Let me clarify what the the Roganverse/Rogansphere is. Ready?
>Joey Diaz
>Eddie Bravo
>Tony Hinchcliffe
>Sam Tripoli
>Ari Shaffir
>Bryan Callen
>Bert Kreischer
>Brendan Schaub
>Tom Segura
>Duncan Trussell
Now for the people who aren't part of that group but constantly get thrown in there because they occasionally go on Rogan despite the fact they already had an established career before they had anything to do with the guy
>Shane Gillis
>Mark Normand
>Tim Dillon
>Theo Von
>LoS guys
>Kurt Metzger
>Andrew Schulz

Know the difference.

I've watched multiple episodes of Kill Tony, like probably six or seven, and it was enough for me to decide I don't really like it. Sometimes the guest stars were sorta funny, but I don't really like the format, and Tony himself was grating and annoying whenever he spoke up. Lots of fake laughter at his own jokes and whichever guests he obviously wanted to suck up to
>Your entire perception is based around the opinions of youtubers who cry about his ego
I honestly know very little about what he's all about outside of his comedy. The only big thing I can remember hearing about him is that everyone got mad at him for performing at a Trump rally, but I don't care about that. I just didn't enjoy what I saw. And I started with a couple of the episodes recommended as really good ones.
>>
>>214041406
The funniest thing he ever did was at that rally and the aftermath, when Trump said he didn't know him and didn't know he was and didn't think he was funny.

That's really fucking funny.

Tony was the weakest link
>biggest podcast in the world
The bigger the podcast the more valid it is in being funny? Is that some gay ass millennial thing the true barometer of whats funny and whats not?
>>
>>214041406
Go watch him on the recent Legion of Skanks episode. If you still don't think he's funny, fine, but this constant blanket statement I see online of randoms saying he's this irredeemable unfunny comedian has always seemed like shitpost to me. I don't even say that because I'm some massive fan but rather just a regular viewer who has seen him be insanely funny on a consistent level and is baffled by those who brush him off as nothing more that just "le angry egmaniac guy who makes fun of black people". The guy is clearly has some comedic skills. You're telling me you've NEVER laughed at a single joke of his ever? Even bad comedians like can be funny SOMETIMES and yet when it comes to Tony, it always this perception of everything thing he does sucks and I never understood it. I get that it's the internet and the vocal minority is loud but it often seems very artificial to me.
>>

>Jim Norton

I gave up on that nigger when he turned gay and married a dude. Just further proof that he absolutely could not find an actual female to date/marry. He’s the definition of a bald manlet try hard. Even Patrice ga e him a ton of shit back in the day.

Mark Normand has some pretty terrible jokes. Calling a fat guy in a green tshirt "Shrek" doesn't even register as a joke. Witty for a 10 year old, perhaps. At this point, Timmy No Brakes is carrying the show.

I honestly didn't. I've never seen him do like a proper standup set, though, on the episodes of Kill Tony I saw he was acting more as a moderator and chiming in with comments, which I assume is the usual format for that show.

Obviously he's successful and he has fans, so I'm not saying he's incapable of being funny or making a good joke, I just found him kind of offputting and it doesn't make me wanna seek out more of his stuff. He's doing just fine without me. Not everybody needs to be a fan

And Maron and Jeselnik have stand up specials just shitting on them

Maron got torched on Skanks pretty recently. They also covered Jeselnik when that all went down. The best person who covers this kind of stuff is Blind Mike Project. He goes through the podcasts you don't watch and covers this type of comedy gossip and gives fair takes on the matter. I think you would enjoy it. It's pretty funny.

Dave Smith pointed out how Patrice didn't like Jeselnik on the show before back when Jeselnik retweeted some article slandering them and other comedians as nazis and other shit for making jokes. You're right. Comedy is not subjective at all, and upon dispelling my preconceived notions of Tony from a purely youtube politics standpoint (which is how I choose my comedy), I realize he IS funny and quick witted, which must be respected, and I DO laugh now. >>
>>214042378
>Dave Attell is so much better than this. Kind of sad to see his name associated.
Yeah I can't believe he would lower himself by being treated with such respect and dignity. I can't believe Tony would invite a legend who has trouble selling tickets to the most famous arena in the world on the biggest comedy show in the world, released by the biggest streaming platform in the world watched by millions of people. How dare Tony call him the best comedian living today and have him go out and perform as much comedy as he wanted on HIS show. Such madness. It's not like Attell hasn't been on the show plenty of times already ever since the podcast first started or anything..

Duncan is far too smart and compassionate to be associated with those people. Probably why you don't see him over there as much these last few years. I used to watch Rogan before he got brainwashed and political and stupid.
It was a fun show to get high and watch them talk about aliens and other shit I don't believe in. Watching him tell Eddie Bravo that he's a fucking retardo schizo. That was where it was at. But it's all different now. The energy is different. Everything is more serious and politicized and Joe has turned some corner and lost perspective. That happens to everyone. Seinfeld has kind of lost perspective too. You get too rich and too isolated from regular people and reality and you kind of lose what got you there in the first place. Rogan wasn't ever really a good standup to begin with. I'm guessing he gave Mitzy a lot of head and had dirt on someone from Newsradio or something. I just never understood how he ever was a thing. Fear Factor and MMA seemed way more his speed than acting and comedy. We live in a weird world where he's as big as peak Stern and the most talked about comics are not funny.
Gillis is a solid comic, but I don't like a lot of that Segura Kreisher type stuff. I just don't get the appeal. It's like an attitude thing like Dane Cook had. People with taste in wit and cleverness are not Dane Cook fans, they're Mr. Show fans.

>He wouldn’t be relevant if it weren’t for O&A back in the day.
This might be true, but also applies to most comedians that appeared on the show. The reason why we still talk about Norton 11 yeas after the show ended is because he's still funny. His relevance today is based solely around the fact he still does things that have people interested.
>>
>>214042532
I have always hated him. I'm talking about for almost twenty years. No one is universally beloved. Maybe Chappelle or Seinfeld at their peak, and even someone surely hated them for whatever reason.
>>
>>214042632
Dude not EVERYONE is the Rogansphere is the same comedically. Guys like Bert and Schaub suck but guys Ari and Tony are funny. You don't have to judge the entire group just because you don't like some of the people in it or because you don't find them funny. You have to separate people from factions. You don't have to like Rogan's comedy to appreciate him using his platform to boost other comedians whether they're ones you like or don't like. Just stick to the ones you like and don't worry about the others.
>>
>>214042632
Rogan came up in an era where non-comic actors, people like Jason Alexander and Steve Buscemi, would do stand-up just in a bid for acting gigs, but somehow got it in his head that he was the real deal. His stand-up was never what got him fame, it was his MMA commentary and then parlaying that into a podcast.

Nothing you're saying makes any sense to me. Attell is literally known in the comedy world for constantly going out of his away to help young comics. KT is literally a platform based around helping young comedians. You say you're disappointed yet Attell being on the show is on-brand for him. He sees how the show helps people and as a veteran is showing his support for everyone involved. It's mutual because the people on the show do everything to boost him up as well. I genuinely don't see your issue. I'm saying this as someone who considered Dave the funniest stand-up comedian ever. It's offensively not funny. It may actually offend some people, but it should at least be funny. It's more of a movement than actual fandom and comedy. People are watching it because they feel a tribal connection to "the message", which is getting pretty old now that they are successfully pushing it a few years now.
>You can't do comedy anymore. You can't be edgy and push the envelope with racial material and makin' fun of queers

Yes, you clearly can. And you always could. None of them got "canceled". No one did anything. They're "getting away with it". So when does it get funny. The whole meta discussion is over. They have the power now apparently. Most of us are ignoring it because it's not of quality, but they are free to be funny whenever they want to start.

At the time I loved it, but now that I know that's just the way he always is, in hindsight it just makes him look whiny and unprofessional.
>>
>>214042760
You're talking about his current fame. In the old world he was already famous as a comic you'd see on Comedy Central and he was main cast of Newsradio on NBC for five seasons.
You must be a zoomer and think that podcasting was his big break. He's ALWAYS been too successful. But there are always people like that. Pauly Shore had no talent and they kept starring him in movies. Someone like Scott Baio also talentless. The world is weird.

I'm 42. Being on Comedy Central or a side character on a sitcom isn't the kind of fame you were talking about. You were comparing him to Stern. If all he'd ever had was Newsradio and Fear Factor, nobody would remember him. He'd be as famous as the black girl or the redhead from that show, which is not at all. MMA made him, and he lucked into shifting that audience over to his podcast.

But I don't like any of them. I don't think Ari and Tony are funny. I like Attell and Gillis. I like Harland Williams and other people who've done the show. Pete Holmes. Dan Soder for sure. Are You Garbage guys are pretty good for funny banter on their pod. Joe List.
I don't think anyone Rogan-adjacent automatically sucks, I just don't think Schaub or any of those other people on those lists are funny.
News Flash: different people have different tastes.
I listed a handful of comics I think are funny. It's not like I don't like any working comics. I'm just more of a Jake Johanssen or Andy Kindler or Todd Barry kind of fan. Those guys have their niche. Artie Lange would be considered a dirtbag but he's one of the funniest comics ever as far as I'm concerned. That's just my taste. I think Louie C.K. is the best living comic though by far. No contest. And he's a real auteur with TV and film.
>>
Mark Normand deserves all the respect he gets. I don't even think he knew it was a Netflix taping until Tony announced it to the crowd and still delivered throughout the night. Future legend.

I don't know what to tell you. This is like a bizarro world thread where Jim Norton and Tony whatever are "objectively hilarious" and George Fucking Carlin is disregarded. You're simply ignorant. Probably because you're barely legal, but also because you're likely a poltarded chud. I'm too old and wise to be hanging around this fucking website anymore. It's pretty disgusting the types of people who outnumber me.

Paulie was in the right place at the right time. His success was spurred by MTV more than anything, he had a personality that appealed to youth of that era. He got lucky that Encino Man was a hit, and the studios in their infinite stupidity thought that that meant he was a draw. They don't with new Oscar winners all the time, they have one hit performance and it takes five flops after make producers realize people only liked them in that one initial movie.

That's the sign of someone being funny. It's not about what character you play, it's about whether the person playing the character is funny to give life to the character. People who play Trump usually suck but when Shane does it, it's great because his mind is funny and can express that. Chip Chipperson is hilarious because Jim is off-the-cuff funny. Characters are nothing more than just another way of tapping into their creative side but the results are the same whether they are doing a gimmick or not.

I've seen Ari do some stand up thing about drugs, and I've seen him on podcasts. I don't like HIM. I don't like his personality, his rudeness, his delivery, anything. I just don't like him like I don't like Norton. Some people just turn you off and you're never going to like their comedy or acting or even just conversations. Like Theo Von. I don't get it. I just don't get it. Or Matt Rife. I will never understand what the appeal of those people is. But that's just the world. There are people in the world I don't like. I'm quite sure that people who are "big fans" of comedians I don't like are not my kind of people. I remember the douchey, uninteresting people who loved Dane Cook. There were some of them around my social circle. I didn't like them and they didn't like me. They thought I was a snob and I thought they were philistines. That's how the world works. And yet we crave that conflict. That's why I'm in this thread probably.

Which is something I never once said yet you're using that as your basis to argue with me LMAO. I don't like guys like Dane Cook, Matt Rife, or Theo Von either... but I genuinely think Ari Shaffir and even Jim Norton or great comedians. Not just because of their history but the stuff their doing now which is high quality. I don't care about whatever they do on random podcasts occasionally or skimming through some bit they told one time. I sit down and watch them which is how I come to my conclusion. I watch what they put out. I generally look past personality and other habits and solely go on if they are funny based on the content they put out. If they have good jokes, I like them. Theo Von is a likable guy and is is sorta funny in a dumb kid mentality kind of way but he's not a great joke teller on stage. To me you really gotta dig into the bulk of their careers to appreciate what they do. I've liked Ari ever since he did the Amazing Racist. I liked his comedy central show. I however thought his stand-up was just kind of okay back in the day but ever since I watched his more recent comedy special "Jew" on youtube, I have greater respect for him. He's an amazing joke teller. He has great bits. You can drastically change your opinions of people if you think them chances. I'll give you an example. I fucking hate female comedians and thought NONE existed. Then I watched Adrienne Lapalucci's comedy special and was shocked. I still think female comedians suck but now I'm more open minded.

Good show though, not the best one ever. David Lucas bit was funny.

William Montgomery had good jokes but no one laughed, maybe bad delivery, and his interview was too color by numbers.

It's because normies are so bland they are invisible, but they outnumber all of us and suave businesspeople pay attention to what they like.
It's weird, the world is dominated by normies and is by of and for them, but ideas are dominated by a dynamic clever minority that most normies never encounter except for a few ideas that stick and go on to drive all normie thought.

say what you want but I'm just so fucking relived we're finally past this weird politically correct era of the past decade where everything was so safe and sanitized. Kill Tony on Netflix is the final bullet for that shit. It's not even just comedy but films and culture in general. I'm glad people are waking up to all the bullshit and wouldn't surprised if another Gen X type of mentality comes out of this. Disney claims their trying to get young men back into their movies, social media as a whole is done with anti-white and gay shit, and comedy is back to being really raunchy and pushing boundaries. Not to make this political but this really is fundamentally good for everyone.
>>
>>214044433
also by Gen X mentality, I mean like how people in the 90's became edgy anti-establishment coming off if the Reagan era which was quite PC for the time. It effected everything in the culture. Comedy was edgier, music was edgier, pro wrestling became edgier, even kids cartoons became edgier. I feel that's going to be the same within the next decade to combat what the previous decade has been. People are going to push hard in the opposite direction.

>Tony is alot like Rogan in the way that nobody actually watches/listens to thier podcasts for them, but rather the guest/show they pull together.
That's simply not true. I watch because I want to see Tony hilariously shit on bad comedians. I like when he gets annoyed with them because they didn't put in the effort into their set and signed up like a dumbass just to get embarrassed by him in front of millions of viewers. That's satisfying. It's why the show was unique in the first place and why people tuned in. Even now, if the guests are shit, people still tune in because they know you can rely on Tony to carry the show most weeks. You can rely on Tony to call out the bullshit these comedians do. There's a reason why he asks the audience every week whether they prefer seeing comedians do good on the show or do bad on the show and they ALWAYS prefer when they do bad. The reason why the show works so well is because of Tony. His input is the identity of the show itself. I've said this before on here but without him, the show is just another generic talent show. If someone else hosted, it would be watered down with some light ribbing but they would ultimately be gay and give reassurance when the comedians do awful. Someone like Tony is essential so the show can be as real and honest as possible. They want to see him be mean and funny. The guests help improve the show but the formula still works without guests.

Tony seemed likeable on Maher though. I was actually surprised to see that Maher liked the show since they made fun of him a few months prior when they had Kyle Dunnigan play him
>>
>>214045733
I also think Tony brings the BEST out of the guests. Comedians come on and aren't sure if they want to be edgy or not but once they see Tony really go in hard, they get comfortable and do the same. The recent episode with Ali Siddiq is an example of that. Jimmy Carr is another example. Tony makes the guests better.
