World's End is structurally just an unambiguously better version of Shaun of the Dead. Hot Fuzz has the benefit of not even trying to have good character drama so there was no real way to screw up the ending or fail to meet people's expectations. World's End aims higher which is why the ending fell short, but that gives it a more lasting legacy than Hot Fuzz.
