Some people are just up their own ass and go into things with certain expectations and rate it low if it doesn't fit their expectations.

Like Razorback has mostly bad reviews from critics and most of them call it a Jaws rip off even though it's fucking nothing like Jaws at all. Like did Jaws have 2 psycho rapist murders for fun crust punk post apocalyptic hicks who seem to be the only workers at a pet food factory. This is a The Thing level of not getting it.
>>
>>214095207
yeah katie is pretty cute, no lewd scenes or cute outfits though, ok slasher though
>>
>>214095245
If we are thinking of the same person, I don’t think he ever actually spams. People just don’t like what he says.
>>
>>214095283
Razorback has one of the best opening scenes of all time. Even if you're lukewarm on the rest of the film somehow you still have to give it that.
Pigs are a lot like natures slasher villains as well. They take damage in all sorts of ways and still keep getting up.

There are a couple shots of women flashing Toxie then immediately after some guy helicoptering his dick lol. Plus another graphic shot later on where pisses on his own chains to save himself.
There's also a Lloyd Kaufman cameo at the end in the hospital, wearing a bucket hat looking very Woody Allen-esque; apparently he had a cameo in the new Superman as well.

>During the summer of 1997 Lam had been repeatedly going to the hospital for tests. Rumours were spreading that he had liver cancer. He stubbornly insisted on leaving the hospital immediately and finishing his job, unwilling to be hospitalised. He received worried phone calls from friends, but he told them not to listen to gossip.
>It is unknown when Lam was diagnosed with cancer for the first time since he forbid his close family to reveal his illness. Some of his close friends stated that they noticed his illness, but no-one dared to ask him directly. Chin Kar Lok said in an interview:
>"One time I had to break through a 10 ft glass wall and before that, I had to work on a ship to jump from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor. Everyone knew it was a painful shot. Hung Kam Bo wanted me to do that job. But Lam refused to let me do that and he took that action…it was really a big pain shot. He was hurt after he did that shot. Like what I said before, working as a stuntman in the 80s is like a family and there is no selfishness
>Lam broke up with his girlfriend Kingdom Yuen. Two weeks before his death, Lam moved to his sister's house. He refused visits from his children and friends. Lam started to lose his consciousness over and over again at the beginning of November. His family moved him to the St. Teresa's Hospital in Kowloon. He was already in a semi-comatose state, and his situation gradually declined.
>Lam died on November 8, 1997, at 12:30 am at St. Theresa's Hospital in Hong Kong, the cause of death being cancer of the liver. He was 44 years old. Ricky Hui who was Lam's partner in "Mr. Vampire", died on November 8, 2011, the same date, 14 years later.
RIP to one of the best leading men of Hong Kong action-horror, Lam Ching-ying. I didn't realize he went out like that, and so young.

I still need to watch the Vampire Expert TV series. Hopefully I can find it somewhere with English subtitles. It had 80 or 90 episodes and it was supposedly pretty good

I like Demons 2, and the meta thing they were going for was kind of cool, where they're watching the sequel to the original, and that somehow slips into this other reality.

That said, the last 10 minutes or so fucking blows. There's no climax, the labor goes off without a hitch, and then it just kind of ends. There's a part of me that would have rather gotten the sequel that they were watching on TV.

I liked the ending. He basically gets away with everything, assuming they don't actually find any evidence after the monster is destroyed in the acid bath. I liked that Ralph Bates plays Frankenstein too. Peter Cushing in every role was getting tiresome at that point.

>It is a film about the Black experience, and the immigrant experience in America
It portrays the merging of cultures and identity into one American people as a monster trying to collect souls and join them in an unholy union, which is funny to see people praise in the context of this black horror movie because nobody wants to openly state that they actually hold this anti-Melting Pot, pro-segregation view of society.

Weapons was ok. Very Quentin Tarantino ending. I think it would’ve been cooler if the kid was inspired by the monster and wanted to become its student. Monster did not get a backstory, only narrative based hints. Satisfying, but I always like horror magic and I think it had the potential for a sequel if the kid was more friendly with the monster.

Did not watch Bring Her Back, even though I had the time to watch one after the other. Way too many jumpscares in the trailer, Fake Documentaries Q did it better.

I like Everything's Eventual and Nightmares and Dreamscapes. Personally, I think King works best in short story/novella form. I couldn't make it through IT or The Stand because boy, do they ever meander, but The Mist and The Gunslinger are two of my favorite books of all time. The pacing soars, and the stories are direct and to the point.

I was reading the Dark Tower series around the same time as a friend of mine, who was a couple of books ahead of me, and he said "You can tell the exact point when King stopped doing coke".

Oh boy, it drops off big time.

The Gunslinger is this awesome, simple story about this kick ass gunslinger (who is the last of an extinct order of almost Jedi-like gunslingers) chasing a treacherous sorceror across the desert in a dying world. Perfect. There's a cool scene a bit of a ways into it that had to have been at least partially the inspiration for the opening village sequence in Resident Evil 4.

By the time you get to the latter half of the series, there's Rick and Morty-like infinite multiverses that intertwine with the other King books, Dr. Doom bots, Harry Potter snitches, King writes himself into the story as a fairly major character, and the final book is practically a giant fuck you to anyone who had been following the series up to that point.

There's a character named "Detta" who shows up, and makes it really rough to get through, because she talks a sadistic level of shit constantly, but then you've got Eddie to balance things out with a bit of levity, so it balances out. Plus I liked the mafia subplot and the killer giant lobsters that say "Dum-a-chung?"

The third book (The Wasteland) gets awesome again. The city of Ludd, Blaine the Mono, Oy, good shit.

It's after that when it starts to fall off for me. Wizard and Glass is basically a big flashback sequence, to my recollection, and King rushed through books 5, 6, and 7 after getting hit by the van in '99, because he suddenly became afraid of the idea of dying before he finished the series.

I never read the other interquel book that he wrote later on, so I have no idea what that one entails.

As far as other stuff goes, you can't really go wrong with his short story compilations.

The first half of Cujo is a little dry, because it's basically a domestic drama about a failing advertising agency and a cheating spouse until the rabid dog shows up, but I still love the atmosphere it establishes. He makes Maine in the summer seem like a very comfy place to live.

IT has a lot of that too, but I just couldn't hang, because it drags its feet to get anywhere, and gets so mired in the details when I just want you to tell me a story. There's such a large cast, and he goes into all their histories in intricate detail, and if you're into that sort of thing, you'll be eatin' good, but it's just not for me. I like a story that moves.

Also, The Mist. It's basically the movie, but with a lot more characterization, and a more ambiguous tone than the movie, which I personally prefer.
