They're real Bond movies. Simple as. A Brosnan-style Bond movie in this day and age would rake in a billion dollars in its first two weeks. No bullshit. Will never happen because we can't have nice things anymore because of, well, you know who.
>>
>>214131200
i like goldeneye and the other brosnan ones the most, but it might just be from nostalgia and the N64 game and stuff

I grew up watching all Bond films together with my entire family well before, it was basically a family tradition to watch Bond on TV whenever a movie aired, but I suppose technically Brosnan is "my Bond" and I rewatched Goldeneye over and over when it came out on video.

Shame Goldeneye is the only good one he made, but on the other hand it's definitely in the top 3. Great action, funny, Tina Turner turning in a great song, Isabella is beautiful and I know people like Famke, I do too, but not in this movie. I thought she looked and acted scary and ugly in it.

The Brosnan era attracts the most NPC vitriol.
>LE N64 GAME!!!
>THE OTHERS WEREN'T AS GOOD AS LE GOLDENEYE
Fucking morons. All of his movies and all of his games were great. It was a golden age for Bond. He was at the apex of pop culture and then Craig came along and he became a meme and a relic.
>>
I consider GoldenEye to be 10/10 (no, I haven't played the dumb game as a kid). Brosnan was a great Bond, the villains were great, the theme was amazing, the action set-pieces, it was all great.
I also like Sean Connery of course and his movies were pretty good, especially Goldfinger. Timothy Dalton as very good, as well, shame he wasn't in more movies. I really don't care about the rest - Moore I consider extremely overrated and his movies generally were lame and Craig sucked (Casino Royale was great tho), Lazenby's movie was good because of the whole tragic lovestory subplot.
>>
>>214131406
I wish I could give GoldenEye a 10/10 but female M is too much for me to pass over. Otherwise, the film is perfect down to the most minute detail. Incredibly memorable side characters, stunts and dialogue. The best villain and femme fatale ever and the 2nd best Bond girl ever (first, for me, is Pam Bouvier). Moore and Craig lasted the longest but their movies were crap and they were both miscast. Lazenby is a footnote. I only consider Dalton and Brosnan as "true" James Bonds.
>>
>>214131200
I just finished watching Goldeneye again. I saw somebody comment the other day that they liked how in Goldeneye Brosnan never looked like he was worried in any of the action scenes, only focused. After watching it now I disagree. I mean it's true, but I much prefer how he plays him in the next few films. The scowl started to feel a little samey after a bit. Goldeneye is his best film for sure, but I like his Bond the least. Die Another Day is his worst film, but his Bond is the best.
The truth is, even at his worst, Bros is the best.
>>
I like Boris.
>>
>>214131435
I don't mind Judy Dench, she was perfect as a sociopathic cunt boss of a secret intelligence agency giving Bond shit for his behavior. I only wish they got a different M for the Craig run.
>>
>>214131399
The one with Denise Richards was a bit shit, and the one with the Madonna song.
Tomorrow Never Dies is great though.

I feel that 006 and Bond should have interacted more. They didn't really that have that much interaction when they finally met up again.
>>
>>214131483
Brosnan's movies aren't bad by any stretch but when you see what could've been, you grow to hate them. For example, Monica Belluci and Lucy Liu were supposed to be in TND and the K.D Lang song was supposed to be in the opening. The initial script also had much cooler stunts and Elliot was more brutal and less of a goof. The World Is Not Enough almost had Neve Campbell in her prime as Christmas Jones which would've worked far better but we got Richards which, while a lesser choice, was still hot as all hell. That's what bugs me the most. That they're good but they could've been great if things were slightly different.

Also, I adore DAD and think it's the purest Bond movie since YOLT and TSWLM.
>>214131500
Perhaps but their first meeting among the Soviet monuments gave you all the context and ethos you need. They did a lot with a few scenes.
>>214131469
Judi Dench should've been reserved for the already subversive Craig era. Having such a classical Bond tenure like Brosnan's be tainted with such a subversive casting is regrettable.

Yes, I have marathoned the entire franchise. They're broadcast annually in my country.
But I like mostly those two movies. Those are the definitive Bond movies for me.
I was born in 1989.
>>

>They're broadcast annually in my country.
In Europe, there's always a channel that shows Bond movies either very often or they have a dedicated channel for Bond 24/7. It was my favorite as a kid. I can quote GoldenEye from start to finish from memory.

All Bond actors are great, my favorite remains Connery but all of them until Craig are amazing. Sad that the franchise became some generic action movie bullshit and lost that Bond charm

Also the best song is Goldfinger, not counting obviously the actual Bond theme
>>

Craig was Bella Ramsey x100000 and no one here is old enough to remember. Craig was lucky the internet and social media were still at a primitive stage because say he was cast now at that same age, he would've been mauled.

Yeah, everyone complained how ugly he was and also blond. But looking bad he really wasn't or I just go used to it. He became much more cartoonishly ugly in the later films and today.
>>
>>214132020
He was. You just got used to it. He has been in the role for over 20 years now (a Bond's tenure ends when he is replaced, Craig has not). It's cultural osmosis and conditioning. Casino Royale will be 20 years old next year.

Watched A View To A Kill for the first time last night
Pretty good Moore outing and finale. Not his absolute best but the movie had great set pieces, loved the battle on the top of the bridge towards the end.
>>
>>214132080
God has chosen him.
>>
>>214132080
Is that an ear piercing? Holy fuck if Bond starts having piercings and earrings then it really IS over
>>
>>214132093
The music, set pieces and villain were sublime but this really should've been Brosnan's first movie. The neon aesthetic was too much of a departure from the previous Moore movies and it needed a youthful boyish Bond like Brosnan. What a shame. Was never big on Dalton. I preferred Brosnan all the way.
>>
>>214132119
It's not a deep piercing. Seems like something he can easily get off. He has the face and the body but he needs to get a proper straight haircut.
>>
Does Nightfire the game count?

Kek, he looks like a faggy pretty boy. We don't need nancyboys playing Bond, we need men who look elegant but masculine. If this is what counts as masculine nowadays I'm shooting myself
>>
>>214132122
Brosnan was initially wanted for The Living Daylights, but he was unavailable due to filming Remington Steele. Dalton was the backup.

I'm not homo but Pierce Brosnan is the only dude I can think of that's relentlessly handsome
>>
>>214132122
>>214132172
I'll give Dalton his flowers. The Living Daylights is maybe my favorite Bond movie and I give credit to his performance in that one. Pulls off the "lone wolf" agent pretty well, who switches between suave and locked in assassin pretty well. Plus the best aesthetic visually. Would've been the most 80's Bond if Duran Duran did the theme again.
>>
>>214132170
Please do kill yourself because you're clearly a closeted homosexual if you think that guy isn't masculine because he has a pretty face. Plus, he isn't pretty. He's handsome. Which is what Bond is. Let me guess, you go to Danny boy's gay bars?
>>
>>214131324
Goldeneye in my opinion is one of his weaker ones. Tomorrow Never Dies is his absolute peak.
>>
>>214132197
Fuck that other anon, Dalton is the best Bond that has ever been and will ever be. He's the most layered and sophisticated actor to ever play Bond. He nails both the movie star Bond and the pulp novel Bond perfectly. 10/10.
>>
>>214132214
Tomorrow Never Dies is his worst. Just a remake of The Spy Who Loved Me without any of the flavor. Only good thing about it was Michelle Yeoh and her kung fu moves
>>
>>214132208
You utter fucking retard, that guy looks like a Pattinson knockoff. Bond is meant to be the epitome of masculinity, a true man. This guy looks like he'd get beaten at school
I'd unironically prefer Cavill as Bond. Cavill actually looks like a real man instead of some total dandy. Of course I doubt Cavill will ever be hired in any role again considering his opinions are banned on Hollywood

While you're wrong about ATJ and your view of Bond is that of a NPC or a woman's or both, you bringing up Pattinson is interesting. If only he waited like two years and hadn't sold out for capeshit, he'd be Bond right now. What a waste.

Honestly The Man with the Golden Gun would be answer for most of these questions.
I like Moore era the most, because they embrace the goofiness of the series. Bond doesn't work as a serious John le Carre-style spy thriller anyway, so why don't just go the opposite way. And I think TMWTGG is the best, because at times it just goes into surreal territory, like that secret base on a shipwreck where the floor is tilted 45 degrees and everybody just goes along with it ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCS1-EMrcDc ), or that hallucinatory opening scene straight from The Prisoner with mazes, mirrors, mannequins and flashing lights ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DtrveteokY ). The premise with world's best assassin is also more interesting than le another ebin billionaire. The villain is Christopher Lee, the henchman is a funny midget, the song is really memorable ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSbj2Mx2By8 ).
Only thing I think is not the best is the girl. I mean the idea of the main female character be a completely retarded bimbo parading in bikini, that accidentaly turns on mega-death laser with her butt is funny, but I still choose that one from Diamonds are Forever, because she's a redhead.

I love all of the movies and actors through Die Another Day. There are weak aspects / films but it's all entertaining and worth revisiting often. I enjoy Casino Royal and Quantum as a double feature and alternate take on his beginnings, but I don't enjoy the other Craig films or the direction it went. The rest of the franchise is perfect.

The problem here is that nobody actually WANTS to be Bond anymore. EON treated all their actors like shit, and even with the new management the intense production schedule is still bad enough that it holds up the actor’s career. Notice how Craig and Brosnan seem to be in a lot more movies now then when they were playing Bond?
