>le shouty swearing scottish manDog shit
>>214138522You're the only one who watched this.
>>214138543I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN'T HAVE SEX!!!
I like the show but I agree that the swearing often seems forced. Iannucci wanted to make a modern version of Yes Minister, and he obviously thought he needed to spice it up with sweary words to make it interesting for modern audiences.
>>214138522>t. a mincing CUNT
>>214138522>>214138543I think it’s the show that Veep is based off of.

>>214139440>that video comment>2010if he only knew how worse it would get
>>214138654The script on this show was incredibly witty, it wasn't just about the swearing.
>>214140675It was supposed to be funny. And forced swearing makes it unbearable.
>>214140732Most of the swearing was done by one character, and if anything it was realistic to how a lot of people would talk in those high pressure jobs.
>no you can't just say bad words that's unrealisticlmao
>>214140763>it was realistic to how a lot of people would talk in those high pressure jobs. Are you twelve?
>>214138522>>214138543These fucking zoomers, I swear.Lots of people here have seen The Thick of It and In the Loop. They're fucking hilarious.
>>214140812>you have to swear in every single sentence because that's gritty UK realism for big boy grownups such as myself
>>214138522only the ones with chris langham are good. It was a fantastic send up of New LAbour™ with capaldi as Alistair Campbell. You probably had to be old enough to remember Blair and co. to enjoynit. Chris langham was fantastic in it. Unfortunately Gingham was outed as a pedophile and you're not really supposed to like the early series any more..... but they're the only ones really worth watching
>>214140862I am mostly able to forget about Langham's real-life misdeeds when I watch the early series. There is only one part where it is unavoidable. There's a scene where Hugh is in his office with his staff, talking over his latest scandal in the press with them, and Hugh picks up a newspaper and says, "Look at this! They're talking about me like I'm some kind of bloody nonce." At that moment, you're inevitably reminded.
>>214138522kino show
>>214140862Peter Mannion has all the best lines and he appears after Langham left
>>214140862>Chris langhamHe was in Help with Paul Whitehouse, which was excellent, but wasn't repeated due to the nonce business (similar situation to Pete Townshend). It can still be found on the internet.
>>214138543I just watched it recently. Then watched it again. It was hilarious. I love British humor
>>214140819>he's never had a high pressure jobHaha fuck off poorfag
>>214140812Intelligent people dont curse constantly. It makes you seem stupid
>>214141005TIL what "nonce" means. Thought it just meant retard or something
>>214138522The Macolm Tucker/Doctor Who trailer when Capaldi's casting was announced was a great thing
>>214141247Caring what people think of you makes you seem like a fag. Thats kinda the point of Malcom. He can say whatever he wants because of his high role
>>214141247Intelligent people don't get into politics
>>214141265It's an acronym of "Not On Normal Courtyard Exercise," which is written on the nonce's cell door to let the guards know not to let them out with the other prisoners to be killed.
>>214141065He only got 6 months and he was downloading nasty child abuse videos according to the judge. Apparently banging a 14 year old too (at least it was a girl)
>>214141065https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1ag1aF3GhZb9yD709owoK3b9IGQy7JyJ
>>214141290I often wondered what was the real, political point of Malcolm. Behind the bullying and the dick-swinging, there ought to be some kind of ideology driving his actions. But there doesn't seem to be anything there. He's ostensibly a Labour party man, yet you never hear him advocate those values or any other values.
>>214141496He claimed it was for research for a character in a new series of Help, which was confirmed by Paul Whitehouse. He still downloaded the videos, though.
>>214141247zoomer/burger cope, avoiding bad words because you're a milquetoast faggot is literally limiting your vocabularly,
>>214141605>it was for researchThe old Pete Townshend gambit. No one's buying that.
>>214141574>He's ostensibly a Labour party man, yet you never hear him advocate those values or any other values. There's one brief clip where he tells his underlings that the opposition used to shit-talk Nelson Mandela lol. But whips are there to keep people in line and they need real ways to coerce the unwilling
>>214138522Hot take but I think stuff like this did more harm than good, British men aren't listened too because they rely too much on cursing and shock to make their points, this causes intelligent men to think of them as children when it isn't intended. At the end of the day cursing is a crutch and causes people to think your vocabulary is just bad instead that you are a really witty person who knows how to curse really well. This really shows when he shouts at the Midwestern Bumpkin and its supposed to make him look like a cosmopolitan UK man who is really above all the common retard but the American was the calm one and he was just really pissed.
>>214141057we'll have to agree to disagree on that. I only like the ones with langham. I didn't even like the movie.I'm a big fan of Armando Ianucci however
>>214141677>>214141605pamella Stephenson (Billy Connoly's wife) used to be a comedian but trained to be a psycho therapist. She had a brief TV show where she "analyzed" celebrities like Stephen fry, Sharon osbourne, robin williams, Kathleen turner and others. She had an episode with Langham where he aimed to clear his name. I assume she did it as a favour as they used to work together in comedy. It was cringe. A fantastic example of a manipulative degenerate. Watching him trying to justify his pedophilia because he was abused as a child was fucking disgusting.
>>214141760>British men aren't listened too because they rely too much on cursing and shock to make their points, get tae fuck, cuntface
>>214141760I know what you mean, but you have to remember that it's not supposed to be a flattering, masturbatory portrayal of the witty Brits. Iannucci is portraying the political class as a bunch of unprofessional loudmouths. If you're talking about the film, In The Loop, then I think it intentionally made the British delegation look inferior and out of their depth. That was part of the satire.
Malcolm's actually the nice one
>>214140862Some S3 episodes were pretty funny (e.g. the radio one, most of it's on Manion), but man were the Hugh episodes great, the guy was hilarious. The inquiry episode floors me every time ("he struggled manfully with it"). Shame this guy's a nonce, he was a real talent.
>>214142117>unprofessional loudmouths>inferior and out of their depthThat's the impression I get of the British political class.
>>214140862Spinners and Losers was peak TTOI, and Langham wasn't in it.
>>214140732Perhaps to you, a fucking spiritual eunuch with testicles like peas and the shrivelled soul of a fucking cowardly churchmouse from a fucking children's fairy tale it does. Normal people swear all the time, it's just verbal punctuation, and faggots like you deserve every bit of bullying you ever got.I remember once when I was wee some heinous fucking American lardcow tourist chucked a hissy at me and my mates for saying "cunt" as she happened to be walking past us - not even at her, just one of us calling another a mad cunt or something like that - and we followed that worthless bitch around for the rest of the afternoon endlessly singing CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT, CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT, CUUUUUUUUNNNT to the tune of Big Ben's bell. She found a polisman at one point and tried to claim we were harassing her but we just told him what happened and said we were doing her a favour by desensitising her and he laughed at her as well. You really cannot grasp how absolutely fucking pathetic literally every single person you mewl about swearing to thinks you are.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6Hf_BKEfnYI love this scene
>>214138543We used to post about this all the time you massive zoomer faggot, go trim your broccoli bush hair back
I! AM! A! MAN! I AM A MAN!
>>214141005I'm pretty sure that's his last line (or very close) in the whole show. What a way to end it
>>214141247Actually studies have shown there's a direct correlation between how often you swear and the broadness of your vocabulary with more swearing meaning a broader vocab. Seperate studies have demonstrated a strong link between breadth of vocabulary and general levels of intelligence. So actually intelligent people *do* curse constantly, it's prissy pseud faggots who *act* like they *think* intelligent people act who don't swear.
>watch this>think malcolm tucker is based>listen to the rest is politics>alastair is actually a globohomo neolib
>>214142028I saw that interview, the show was called Shrink Rap. Yes it was cringe and he did himself no favours there. I would have had more respect for him if he'd honestly admitted his wrongdoing without excuses. Instead, he employed his acting skills in a misguided and fully unconvincing attempt to cast himself as a victim deserving of our sympathy. What a disaster.
>>214142166>Shame this guy's a nonce,he was funny as fuck and seemed to be coming into his own with ITTOI and Help. shame..... but you can't turn a blind eye to nonces. No matter how charismatic, charming or entertaining they are. The damaged humans they leave in the wake of their existence is abhorrent. >Fuck 'em all. burn 'em clean.
>>214142471Irrelephant man
remember those mongs chopped down that tree
>>214142482>think malcolm tucker is basedMalcolm in the show is a soulless husk, a weapon used as a cudgel by the higher ups to bully and push around and force compliance on unsavory or hypocritical policies
>>214142557These people need to be bullied, early and often.
>>214142557public relations in a nutshell
>>214142385>and we followed that worthless bitch around for the rest of the afternoon endlessly singing CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT, CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT, CUUUUUUUUNNNTNever happened, larper>to the tune of Big Ben's bellBig Ben is the bell. Hope this helps!t. American
>>214142471He's gone Glenntal
>>214139210comparing TTOI and VEEP shows how cringeworthy american comedy is
I remember laughing so hard at him demanding Ben Swain stand up when the office is in lockdown. My face hurt from laughing for several minutes straight
>>214140862I mostly agree, although I think Spinners and Losers is one of the best episodes of the series. Season 3 sorely misses Langham, and it's in season three that the swearing becomes the focal point of the humour. A lot of the jokes boil down references to minor celebrities combined with inventive expletives. Rewatching the show made me realise what a big step down season 3 is.
>>214142830https://youtu.be/Yhvg2Q8lbqA
The weakest episode was the inquiry in the last season. Just a snooze overall with few good lines and nearly all of it takes place in the same room
>>214142945I think I lost it as soon as he said "cum" because i just dodnt expect it and I was laughing so hard everything else just destroyed me. Oh man i envy anyone getting to watch this show for the first now.
i thought it was very funny. i liked the dosac characters
>>214142385>remember once when I was wee some heinous fucking AmericanIf you're going to pretend to be Scottish, the preposition in this instance is "wi." As in, "Ah wis oot wi ma trans bird that night." The word "wee" is always an adjective meaning small, as in, "When we goat back tae the flat, she pilled oot her wee micropenis, shrunk cuz ay the hormones an that, ken?"
>You fools! These are good biscuits and they cost four pounds
>>214143098I don't think he was with a heinous American, he encountered one when he was small.
>>214143039>Knee length skirt suit with sheer dark nylons and heelsMy goddamn fucking dick
>>214143178>Why did no one tell me that every week I am being fisted up to the gallbladder by a bald man?!
>>214143098yes retard, when I was wee, as in when I was small/young. and it's wae not wi.
>>214143098You're a retard
>KISS MY SWEATY BALLS YOU FAT FUCK!:D>KISS MY SWEATY BALLS YOU FAT NIGGER!:O
>>214143178>Man cannot live on jaffa cakes alone, obviously. I've tried.
>>214143283Right, I understand now. Hard to follow the gist of that drivelling scrawl, but I do see my error.
The pedo guy was by far the funniest character, it went downhill after that
>>214141057>I'm bored of this. I'm going for a twix.
It's probably the best political comedy since Yes, Minister. The latter is too dry and 'slow'.
>>214140675nta, you're right, the swearing actually ruins an anotherwise brilliant show.
>>214140763>Most of the swearing was done by one characterYes. The main character who is in every single scene and constantly talking/swearing.>realistic Come on now...
>>214143021There's some good stuff with implied events happening between each person's statement that you can judge from the changing mood in the room, but it does ultimately fall flat
>>214140851>>214142449again.. stop using "zoomer" as an insult. you are just making yourself look like a bitter old retard. i am a zoomer. i am 25. this means you are more likely over 30, perhaps even in your late thirties, undoubtedly you are insecure about that.the thick of it is one of my favourite shows.
The running gag of Capaldi always being sweet and polite with the other angry scottish guy always makes me chuckle
>"Oh I'll have a pint of fuck right off and die you miserable fucking tossah - do they do that in here?"
FUNKY TOWN CENTER, HERE YOU COME
This manchild was underrated, I loved how his infantile pop culture comebacks never landed
>UK version: constant panic over how the media portray politics leading to lunacy>US version: the VP's lesbian daughter has married a bodyguard that looks like the VP and has had a black baby by sperm donation
>The cameramen are laughing
>>214140862It feels incredibly dated though these days, doubly so because although for the parody Iannucci stills agrees with the entire New Labour project and has regularly melted down over recent developments.
>So that statement that the policy was the invention of a disgruntled civil servant was actually the invention of a disgruntled civil servant. No, there's only one disgruntled civil servant. One of them's... One of them's an invention... by the other one, you see.
>>214145350Whoever played this shlub that Helen got stuck with on the train played an excellent manchild too. There were many supporting actors on the show that just nailed their roles
>>214145477That'll be Miles Jupp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF9ULYeGo_0
>>214145219>disco lights and chuchu trains
>>214145408VEEP had a couple good seasons before it went off the rails hardBut the bad seasons are so bad they actually ruin the good seasons
>>214138522This and veep are unironic kino.Funny thing about Veep is how many democrats watched it (Obamo, Hillary) and said they loved it, when really the show was a satire on the absolute scum the left wing embodies. Selena was a stupid, ineffective cunt who made every wrong move conceivably possible, all while patting herself on the back and surrounding herself with yes men to delude her into thinking shes doing well. Most HBO shows are pure cancer, but somehow they let veep slip through, lot of progressives dont seem to notice theyre the butt of the joke throughout.
>>214145725Retard, the other side was shown to be as bad or even worse
>>214145766They barely show republicans you dumb nigger, you see one of them arguing for a border wall (based) and then later in the series they threw in one closeted fag, but that does come close to how stupid they made selina
>No, at the moment he’s calling me the political equivalent of the house wine at a suburban Indian restaurant
>>214145845
>>214145725>but somehow they let veep slip throughThose people are perfectly capable of laughing at the stupidity establishment Democrats because they're communists
>>214147774Good point
I'd like more like yes minister, but I'm put off by the forced swearing. Just comes off as desperate.
