Disney could revive the Star Wars IP if they actually made shows/films about characters people like/want to seeimagine how absolutely KINO a show or film about Darth Plagueis’ life would be.
>>214140914>Darth Plagueiswho?
>>214140943the Jedi didn’t tell you?
You know the Acolyte had Plagueis at the end of season 1 and it was cancelled ?
>>214140914There is absolutely no way back for the Star Wars IP, literally none
>>214140998oh no, i havent watched it
>>214140943It's technically a throwaway line from the prequels. His character was never explored in the movies.
>>214140914No, this way of thinking is why Star Wars became shit.>bro what if we had more laser sword fights betweens meme characters we've heard about in backstoriesLiterally the Clone Wars all over again.
>>214140956>your whole family 'out to be executed
>>214140914isn't that what The Acolyte was supposed to be?
>>214140943the guy mentioned on that scene where you can only hear fart noises
>>214140914why the long face?
>>214140998maybe if the series focused on him instead of le heckin slay qween brownoid, it wouldn't have been cancelled
>>214140914>revive reddit wars ipbut they're already making a million series and a movie with the goose and any adams to come out in '27
What I don't understand, how they haven't touched Old Republic yet.
>>214141767They tried to make their own and it flopped hard.
>>214141791>>214141767
>>214140998Acolyte >>>> Sequels any dayit was bretty good
>>214141815jesus
>>214140914the Darth Plagueis novel is so damn good, but they'd only fuck it up
>>214142312i particularly love how it doesnt portray him as a necessarily bad person, but rather a sympathetic villain who is defined by his flaws. sucks so bad it’ll never come to the big screen
i absolutely adored Boba Fett as a character and they completely butchered his story. Should've been a badass bounty of the week show with him traveling around and catching other badasses with little dialogue from Boba
>>214140914fuck Darth Plagueis and all of that gay sithshit, just find a charismatic actor and a hot sidechick (w/ a nice midriff), then make an episodic Kyle Katarn show where he jobs around the galaxy with Jan (or by himself, occasionally, so some hot villainess can try to seduce him (and fail (maybe))), getting involved in all sorts of crazy underworld drama and killing Rodian fucking shits, among other things, maybe some minor force stuff, but not too much, and of course keep it far far away from the karentocracy at Disney so they don't "influence" it like they did with Mando s02+, that's it, that's literally all you gotta do, literally, and add some busty Twi'leks in tight clothes w/ cleavage, or flat ones who like showing off their bellybutton, it's not that fucking difficult
>>214142312This book was great, listened to the excellent audio book and read it some time later. Disney could never do anything as based as this book and as far as I know they already retconned him to lionize some nigger force witches or something.
>>214140998>they cancelled itgood
>>214140914The truth is the only character people really cared about was Luke and the sequels completely fucked every fan over and then Disney and the sycophantic media attempted to gaslight everyone into being ashamed of not accepting their total horseshit. The franchises is completely and entirely dead and will never, ever recover. Additionally the prequels were bad and the sequels being putrid doesn't make them any better.
>>214144042>Lukewrong. people care for dramatic, flamboyant, operaesque stories with bright lights and colors, coupled with beautiful orchestral composition. that’s why the prequels have far more issues than any of the disneyslop yet are more fondly remembered
>>214144042>Luke is the only character people care aboutThis is false.>Luke is the axis of Star WarsThis is true.>Prequels were badThis is pod racing.
>>214142489Even Sheev comes off as genuinely being an asshole but onlyj umping off the deep end to being truly irredeemable because of Plagueis' manipulating him to that point.
>>214140914They should make a series about Palpatine that is played very similarly in tone to the American Psycho movie. His fall to the Dark Side should just be a slow process of incrementally becoming more miserable and unhinged in the political system and aristocracy of Naboo, eventually seeing the dysfunction carries to the galactic senate itself, and just resigning himself to destroy all of it.
>>214140914The best opportunity for plagueis was bringing him in for the sequels as the unholy mastermind that was biding his time until the emperor was out of the way, but that didn't happen. Worse they did basically the same thing except extremely incompetently and using the emperor himself, whom had previously had one of the most ultimate decisive deaths in the history of movies. Like imagine a LOTR sequel and Sauron is alive because they randomly felt like putting him in. Unfathomable levels of retardation.
>>214140998I don't watch media made by people that hate white men.
>>Imagine a Star Wars movie where the main character is an ordinary girl who gets snatched away from her friends by a mysterious and brooding Dark Side user who lives in a spooky castle. Her friends are all female Jedi and embark on a quest to save her from her captor. Meanwhile, our leading lady grows closer with this mysterious villain, discovering that he's actually not so bad. >>The male love interest/"villain" would be like a Sith Dracula, specifically the novel version where he went to a magic academy run by Satan. But he could be like Edward from Twilight or Alucard from Hellsing where he's SPOOKY and VIOLENT but very caring on the inside. His fight scenes are all just anime shit set to gothic instrumentals or something.>>the girls have to go through a bunch of lesser Sith Lords, corrupt institutional figures, pirates, slavers, mobsters, monsters made by dark side magic, etc>>meanwhile their friend is busy going through some beauty and the beast shit with her new boyfriend who's belting out some song that sounds like Frollo's from Notre DameAnon posted this in an earlier thread all credit to anon.
>>214145167oh my kino alert
>>214144042I disagree about Luke but agree about everything else. The prequels took a real hit in popularity after the first movie. They were successful because the brand was still strong but it was weakening. The fact of the matter is that the much maligned Disney saga did better at the box office albeit with a much higher cost of production. But yeah. Star Wars is a dead brand and Disney knows it. Andor, the first couple seasons of Mandolorian, Jedi Survivor showed that nothing can restore interest in the brand no matter how good of a product you put out. Star War will be forever associated feminist propaganda and overpowered female characters.
>>214145076very promising. it’ll never happen but this would work so well. could even have elements of dark comedy in it
>>214141767>>214141791>>214141815Disney didn't want to touch a lot of stuff pre-Disney, hence why their park was based on the sequels, why they stopped paying authors (until they changed that) and why nu-canon is filled with copies from old canon with the names changed. The High Republic was a multi media project designed to be their answer to the 90s multi media projects (Shadows of the Empire). It was meant to be Old Republic lite: adventurous Jedi and shit happening at the height of the republic. We got books, comics, manga, audio books, there was meant to be a video game (Eclipse) and Acolyte was towards the end of that period. The books were awful, non binary characters, talking rocks, evil force plants who the Jedi and Sith feared, hyperspace disaster (almost like a fuck you to TLJ complaints), headed by pic related. Eclipse disappeared after only getting a trailer. Acolyte failed.
>>214140943Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise?I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend.Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create... Life. He had such a knowledge of the Dark Side that he could even keep the ones he cared about... From dying. The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be... Unnatural. He became so powerful that the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which, eventually of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep.Ironic. He could save people from death, but not himself. Not from a Jedi.
>>214145076>>214145432Wasn't Sheev a sith lord way before becoming a politician?
>>214145076>implying the Sith weren't the ones ruining the Republic slowly
Hell no, they would just ruin the characters/stories like they do with everything else. Like how Ashoka and the cartoon ruined thrawn.
>>214140943Glub Shittos cousin
>>214145680But was he a good friend?
>>214145432>could even have elements of dark comedy in itExactly.
>>214140914They could save the IP by giving it a hiatus for 5 years minimum. Then, start fresh.
>>214140914The show/movie has to be a direct adaption of the Plagueis novel to be successful. Which is impossible for American movie directors as seen with TFA.
Everytime im in awe how shitty star wars writers and directors are. Its the easiest franchise and universe to make cool shit for. The only thing i find difficult is not repeat tropes but its a matter of taking the time to check the lore. This trailer was pretty good for example:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nzq9epS2b1AI still have to admit the masketta man stuff is overdone
>>214140914No they couldn't. Star Wars is dead and the review bombs will continue until (((Disney))) sells it. That's just how it is. They wanted this.
>>214146769not that disney wars isnt terrible but its easier to make an ebin video game trailer than an actual full movie
>>214145598>It was meant to be Old Republic lite>Old Republic: 25,000 - 1,000 BBY>Republic Golden Age: 1000 bby - 32 bbyThe problem is that the Old Republic ends at 1,000 bby, Disney/LF don't even know the lore. The Republic Golden Age is a unexplored era and somehow they completely fuck it up. ngl it's cringe people think High Republic is within the Old republic era.
>>214145357>The prequels took a real hit in popularity after the first movie. They were successful because the brand was still strong but it was weakeningStar Wars has always followed this pattern. Empire and Jedi were less successful than ANH.TLJ and Rise were also far less successful than TFA
>>214146853I never said the High Republic was in the Old Republic time frame. When I said Old Republic lite, I meant, they wanted an age they could use with a bunch of OC Jedi adventures only they didn't want to use the Old Republic for previously mentioned reasons of wanting to do their own thing. The High Republic was just their attempt at doing their own OC Old Republic but in a different time frame. The Sith of the Old Republic were pretty much just replaced with a bunch of different things including various force groups/users.
>>214147416I know, but it's frustrating seeing people mocking HR can't get basic facts. But yeah, the RGA wasn't really the ideal era where the Jedi went on adventures, especially in Disney canon, where the Hyperspace routes WERE still being built (while in kotor, they were mostly done).
dude no they can't. post ROTS star wars was being carried by old republic and eu content. all they had to do was say it was canon but they had the gall to deny its existence AND deliberately ruin their own 'original' content. star wars is fucking dead until it finds a competent custodian (straight white males).
>>214147500>but it's frustrating seeing people mocking HR can't get basic factsThat's because most conversations around EU stuff is wiki or half remembered. No one actually reads that stuff.
>>214142312this book is unironically the best thing in the entire star wars franchise, it blows every other story out of the water
>>214146769This trailer is so good I watch it every time it gets posted. Why can't we have cool dark star wars stories like this?
>>214141027They managed to make Dafne frumpy, then killed her off, so the whole effort was pointless.
>>214145357The sequels did well at the box office because they had a larger international market and because they were going off the "hey, it's not the sequels! it's GOOD star wars again!" hype which of course ended up being completely unfounded.China and India account for at least half of box office revenue these days because they're all addicted to bright lights and flashing colors.
>>214147761A lot of the Acolyte reviews done by Disney haters didn't important stuff like the Jedi Path. Which had they read, would know that the entire plot wouldn't happen because Osha would be a farm picker for the Agricultural Coup and not working for the Trade Federation (which had different spices in the leadership prior to the Neimoidians taking over by TPM).
>>214147500>where the Hyperspace routes WERE still being builtThey wanted "this is the golden age" whilst also pushing this "this is an age of exploration/expansion". That being said, time frames in Star Wars universe have always been weird.
>>214148410>where the Hyperspace routes WERE still being builtWhaaaa? That doesn't even make any sense.
No one actually gives a fuck about Darth Plagueis except the most autistic EUfags. He is literally a throw away line in the movies that normies don't recall, had no presence in any real visual media afterwards, and only people who give a fuck about them were tards that read his EU book 20 years ago.A Darth Plagueis movie would flop so fucking hard.
>>214148670I think in one of the HR books there are still people (one characters are a gay couple) mapping out the routes. But yeah it's a result of Disney condensing the galaxy and timeline. But despite that, nothing make sense because people in discanon can quickly travel to anywhere in the galaxy (or beyond as seen in Ashoka). The worldbuilding is so shit.
I'll just leave this here. This is a sample of what Disney thought would appeal to the 'youth market.'
>>214148842The whole plot of the HR involves the Great Hyperspace Disaster because there were these weird pirate group using different routes and a ship crashed into a planet causing blah blah. Many of the main hyperspace routes had been found but some of the other main ones were being discovered because the Republic was expanding.
>>214148941They named a book ABC Squadron full of diverse people.Another writer of sequel EU books Chuck Wendig got fired because his twitter was insane derangement.
>>214148943Which would make sense if HR was set 1000 bby, post New Sith Wars, in which the Republic would be (re)building and (re)discovering the routes.
>>214140914>>214140943The entire Star Wars IP is a sloppy way for manchildren to avoid coming into conflict with the religious by turning the whole story about Caesar, Augustus, Juba II and Jesus into capeshit in space.
>>214148993What did he say?
>>214149314Wendig is insane and wants to shut down sites that allow people to read ban books, i.e his books.
>>214149314>What did he say?Wendig went typically supreme leftist, seeking conflict, trolling and argument even when there was none. The editors warned him a couple times about it but then when he was fired he acted like he had said "fuck" a few too many times and got fired. He wrote some of those awful aftermath books.
>>214146148He was, until I mur-I mean, his apprentice murdered him
