Is there even a single flaw in this movie?
>>
Why would he find a stranger in the alps?
>>
>>214141917
walter is too aggressive every time, i hate it
just like tommy from goodfellas, joe pesci ruins every scene
>>
>>214142045
Disliking a character’s personality flaws is not a flaw in the movie
>>
>>214142045
Can you blame him, nobody else cares about the fucking rules
>>
>>214142045
Joe Pesci was playing a real person who was famously an utter nightmare to be around
>>
>>214142045
The scenes with Walter chimping out were some of the best in that movie.
>>
The movie's tone necessitates a degree of seriousness but Peter Stormare's goofy performance trivializes every scene he's in.
>>
>>214142098
he was playing two people, i read the book, book is way better. also the godfather book is better
they're both at your local library
>>
>>214142001
A post it note with a drawing of a dude with a penis.

>>214142131
Not mine. Some faggoty asshole keeps checking them out.
>>
>>214142131
He was based on one guy, whose real name was Tommy DeSimone.
I’ve read both books, but thanks.
>>
>>214142045
It's fine because he's not going around murdering people.
>>
>>214141917

I've started watching about a half dozen times but lose interest after about an hour. It just feels like there's no stakes to anything.
>>
>>214141917
the musical sequences aren’t as good as the rest of the film
>>
>>214142125
What part of the movies tone conveys seriousness in any way? Was it Walter chimping out over kike shit even though he only converted because of this ex wife, or Sam Elliot in cowboy gear doing a monologue at the end?
>>
>>214142131
I've read more books than you.
>>
>>214141917

what stakes are there in life that there arent in the movie?

I didn't get the dude would be fiends with someone like Walter in the first place.

How do I achieve the Dude lifestyle? I need to work to make money.

Too high brow
>>
>>214141917
the first joke doesn't come until 30 minutes in. or even later, but at least 30 because there wasn't one by the time i turned it off then

then you cant. you have to inherit a house basically
>>
>>214143483
not unusual. lots of crossover there
>>
Not enough naked Tara Reid and Julianne Moore.
>>
>>214141917
There is no way that they wouldn’t have looked in the briefcase at the million dollars. The whole movie depends on us believing that they wouldn’t and didn’t. The film knows it’s bullshit and totally pretends that it doesn’t.
>>214142125
I don’t hate him but I don’t know what the Coens see I him. He doesn’t do anything for me.
>>
>>214141917
They didn’t show Julianne Moore’s red hairy p-p-pussy.
>>
>>214142464
always figured they were childhood friends. They still sort of work well together.
>>
>>214144111
Moore is terrible in it. She’s terrible in lots of things. She’s good in Boogie Nights.
>>214143323
I don’t love his performance in it either. He too is good in Boogie Nights.

And what’s the deal with the Coens writing Jewish AF characters and then casting the goyest goys in the films?
>>
>>214142209
stop watching it while high on weed fucking retard

Ben Gazzara isn't in enough scenes
>>

Based Gazzarapilled anon
>>
>>214144426
He’s great but I’m not sure more of him would have held up.
>>
>>214142045
>walter is too aggressive every time, i hate it
Except when it comes to doing shit for his ex wife, that's the joke.
>>
>>214142169
>He was based on one guy, whose real name was Tommy DeSimone.
Wrong retard. There were things that Tommy did in the movie that didn't happen in real life. In real life it was Paulie's other son (who wasn't in the movie) that was also a hothead and introduced Jimmy to Karen. It's called a "composite character"
>>
>>214144426
>Gazzara
There was just enough of him in it. Same with Sam Elliot. Having them there was kino but any more would have been too much.
>>
>>214142131
>i read the book, book is way better. also the godfather book is better
This is a dumb opinion. Both are great books, but Puzo himself wouldn't say the Godfather novel is better than the movie. And Wiseguy (Goodfellas book) is very informative, but it's written like a long interview.
>>
>>214144707
>Jimmy to Karen.
Henry to Karen.
>>
>>214144662
>"So what are you saying? When you get divorced you turn in your library card? You get a new license? You stop being Jewish!?"
Fucking kek
>>
>>214144194
he’s perfect in Fargo which is a perfect film
>>
>>214141917
You mean other than being boring as shit? I legitimately never finished it because of how boring it was.
>>
>>214144791
Interesting to see his thinking written out.

Walter is a Jewish fear-stereotype embodied in a character. He’s the uber-philosemite who longs to be Jewish, whose surface you scratch to find a Nazi. He’s a Polish Catholic whose business is named S obcheck S ecurity and he muses positively about the ethos of National Socialism even after ranting about Nazis. In real life Milius was a right-wing Jew and the real Jeff Lebowski a leftover hippie Jew.
>>
>>214142075
Making your character annoying on purpose means the audience is stuck with that annoying character anyway
>>
>>214141917
I've got two:
1) Donny dying, which is completely pointless and adds nothing to the story
2) The ending drags out due to his funeral and C-tier attempts at making it funny
Why even kill the guy when writing the script? What was the big brain move here?
>>
>>214145521
All the really deep, interesting stuff in Lebowski is churning beneath the absurd surface. It’s why the film has such longevity even if the Priests of Dudism or whatever don’t know it. Donny’s death wants us to feel like it’s a part of that subterranean meaning but it doesn’t actually seem to be. If it is, I haven’t figured it out yet. It feels like a cheat to wrap things up.
>>
>>214145135
>In real life Milius was a right-wing Jew and the real Jeff Lebowski a leftover hippie Jew.
based
>>
>>214144426
>>214144589
>>214144724
It took me until just now to realize they're both in this, after Gazzara gets Elliot killed in Roadhouse. Jesus
>>
>>214146209
I should have added ‘Milius CLAIMED to be a Jew’ . I think he probably actually was but other Hollywood Jews refused to believe him because of his politics, which is relevant in a way wrt Walter.
>>
>>214144707
Giving him one person’s function in a single scene to cut down on adding and establishing an additional character doesn’t make him a composite character, it’s just economic storytelling. There are other things in the film that aren’t true to life
>>
>>214141917
I like it but it's very jewish
>>
>>214146291
i heard he was ethnic jew brought up gentiles or maybe the reverse
>>
>>214142045
he's calmer than you are dude.
>>
>>214147742
Just take it easy, man.

Bridges is so great in the film. He’s so natural. Coen goys are virtually always cartoons but not Bridges.
>>
>>214145521
Wrong.
>>
now that articles about "Dudeism" have mostly faded from our memory, and we've recovered from realizing "liking the Big Lebowski" does not make us unique or cool, The Big Lebowski is still a great movie.
>>
