Was John Adams his magnum opus?
>>
>>214144167
his portrayal of a cork dork is picture perfect. he apparently doesnt even like wine in real life. either alexander payne directed him well or he studied booze nerds at length to get the annoying mannerisms down. he's great in every film ive seen him in.

ive worked in the booze industry in california for 10 years. seen plenty of winos obsess over everything liquid related. people in the wine industry love this movie, too, because they relate to him.

if another relative dies, will he become an even greater actor? or does it negate the first death's effects

Love that the term for them is cork dorks and that the industry loved the movie.

100%. Kids these days would call him a nepo baby but the man is one of the all-time greats

He and Damian Lewis carried Billions hard. Still wasnt enough and got ruined by the "new blood" characters in later seasons. Hate that annoying trope, same as madmen

Weird timing because I just watched Big Fat Liar for the first time just a week ago. Fun little movie.

Do you know anyone that become a sommelier?
>>
Loved John Adams but Giamatti is an awful actor. He's one dimensional and any role that isn't basically him just being himself shows how awful he is.
His Rhino - holy shit was he cringe. That series getting axed saved us from further embarrassment.
His awful stutter in Lady in the Water. Ben Stiller's simple Jack was more convincing.

most winos are laid back, so there's usually not much fighting. the super nerds memorize yearly weather trends of wine growing regions and if the harvest was good or bad each year. a minority can be obnoxious about it, but some people just end up as encyclopedias. one of my bosses would meet people and ask what year they were born, then tell them about where good wine was being made that year around the world. he was pretty awesome.
separately, in sideways, giamatti is trying to smell and describe a wine. he closes his eyes and covers one of his ears, to help focus on his sense of smell more. it's a nice attention to detail that casual drinkers would never even think to do. but this scene always makes me laugh cause i think the pros rarely do all that for a tasting.
>>
>>214147362
What does that mean?
>>
>>214147247
yeah i worked with people who had certification as a sommelier or had done training through WSET. the former is good for restaurants, the latter is good for retail. a lot of people i spoke with who had been in the industry for decades didnt think either were necessary, but they can help if you just want more guidance in learning about wine. they might also help with networking and making your resume look better.
