Granted its more Adult Swim than Troma but on the whole this was pretty damn solid. I wondered why certain people gave it terrible reviews but then i saw the home of the villains is "Chudhaven" and theres a group of terrorists holding a fast food joint hostage over pronouns and "the estrogenisation of america" so i imagine it was just miga at it with their bullshit again.You still see close up shots of titties, peoples heads getting run over by cars and the midget woman playing toxie post transformation is pretty damn solid with the physical comedy.Most surprising was the heart. Its about toxie being a single dad after his girlfriend died of cancer and he just wants to support his wierd kid but can't quite get it across but its not another deconstructive "ugh, MEN amirite ladies!" movie where hes the butt of jokes. The only time he is really the joke is near the end he raises a black power fist to a black woman and she just shakes her head so he looks awkward and throws the horns instead to which she reciprocates. Beyond that hes just a working class super hero who wants the corpo poisoning his town to fuck off and is played entirely sincere and he is mostly the straight man reacting to how the "bioboosters" sold by the corpo has made everyone in St.Roma's Village go fucking schizo.Its not really Troma, its not even as gory as The Boys but if you like shit like the Venture Bros you will probably like this. Also its not a revival of an 80's IP going "hey millenials, remember THE EIGHTIES??". Its set in the modern day, the music is rock/thrashcore, theres no bisexual lighting or synth shit. The only references are to troma movies like poultrygeist and class of nuke em high.
