is john waters based?
>>
>>214151845
He is so cringe that he is based but then goes even further to come full circle and ends up being cringe.
>>
He's besties with Leslie Van Houten and Patty Hearst so yes
>>
>>214151845
Yeh
His movies are full of horrible people doing the horrible things but it's all for laughs. If you think characters being just genuinely hateful is funny, he's your guy. Only part of his major filmography I didn't like was Divine blowing the dude in Flamingos, because you could tell he was into it. A Dirty Shame also sucks bought outside of that he mostly always knocks it out of the park.
>>
>>214151876
But enough about you and your entire family.
>>
>>214151845
He's carbons based
>>
>>214151845
He's pretty much the only American fag filmmaker worth their salt so yeah I'd say so.
Cry-Baby is greaser musical megakino that BTFOs Grease, Multiple Maniacs is an arthouse classic, and Cecil B. Demented is his most underrated.
>>
>>214151845
Very Based.
>>
Great filmmaker
>>
I hate that part in Pink Flamingos where that gay hippy spreads his buttocks for the camera and starts pushing his anus in and out. It's probably a sexy scene if you're John Waters, but it was a little too "based" for my liking.
>>
>>214151908
>>214154512
Doesn't somebody fuck a chicken in that movie?
>>
>>214154545
Within the context of the movie yes but I don't think anyone fucks it for real. Divine does eat real dog shit though
>>
>>214154951
>Divine does eat real dog shit though

Most people seem to be convinced that it's real, but I think it's more likely to be a prop. Of course John Waters is going to say it's real, as that makes his film more outrageous, but we needn't take him at his word.
>>
>>214155061
They show the shit coming out of the dogs ass and on the audio commentary waters said they called a doctor and asked what they should do if their retarded kid ate dog shit. Looks real to me man, and it isn't anything I would put past divine actually doing. Dude was a fag during the 70s after all.
>>
>>214155094
It has been a long time since I saw it, so I suppose I'll have defer to your better knowledge. But it seems a strange thing to do when Divine had ambitions as a pop musician and wanted to break into the mainstream.
>>
>>214155157
I can appreciate that, but also Waters made Divine and they were close friends. Nobody would know who he was without John. I think the level of trust between them was very high, and it did end up being the most famous thing Divine did by a lot possibly excluding Hairspray
>>
>>214154512
While I CAN imagine John jerking it to that, I also really do think he just thought it was funny

>>214151845
Serial Mom is pretty good
>>
>>214155362
Serial Mom is the best title of his Hollywood phase by a lot. Turner kills it (ha ha)
>>
>>214155362
The funniest thing about Waters movies is they're all so proudly Baltimorian but have barely any black people, when Baltimore is nigger central irl (live in NoVa)
>>
>>214153642
Gregg Araki is good too
and Ryan Trecartin
>>
>>214151845
Yes.
I love Pecker.
Do not make fun of that please.
>>
>>214155459
The Pecker OST was godtier
"Happy-Go-Lucky Me" – Paul Evans
"The Love Chase" – Stewart Copeland
"I'm a Nut" – Leroy Pullins

Cecil B. Demented will always have a place in my heart for the summer of 2001 where I watched my VHS recording from pay per view while drunk a lot of nights for some reason.

"We're horny.
But our film comes first."

Always appreciate Stephen Dorff.
>>
>>214151876
cringe post
>>
>>214151845
Always a good guest on Real Time. Though I'm getting more sick of Maher himself with every passing year.

ultra based
>>
>>214155484
>Always appreciate Stephen Dorff
I will always give Dorff full credit for being the only mainstream actor I've scene do a scene in a mainstream movie butt naked with a full on erection.
Dude went literally balls out and I've never seen anyone else do it that I can remember.
>>
>>214155551
Seen in close-up, his stache looks fake. It's like a strip of wool.
>>
>>214155484
>Cecil B. Demented
Literally /tv/: the movie
>>
>>214155588
Drawn on mustaches are a thing. And actual old-time style.
>>
I have seen:
>Cecil B. Demented
>Cry-Baby
>Serial Mom

are the rest worth watching? cry baby i did not really like
>>
>>214151845
More based than a christmas turkey.
>>
>>214151908
Never watched Waters flicks but it sounds like he was an inspiration for Todd Solondz
>>
>>214156971
Solondz movies are "funny"
Waters movies are actually funny
I always recommend Female Trouble as a starting point he characters just hate each other pointlessly
Divine nearly kills her parents for getting her the wrong present for Christmas
>>
I don't like his early films and Polyester because I think Divine is a terrible actor. But starting from Hairspray he gets really good, effortlessly stylish and slick with darker subtext and commentary. My favorite is probably Crybaby because of Depp's perfomance.
>>
>>214157904
Polyester is the BEST Divine performance. He's so desperate and unhinged and literally crawling on the floor like a pig at the end.
>>
>>214157928
Verbally Divine always play himself, and it gets very tiresome. He actually reminds me of Woody Allen, always the same tone, the same cadence.
>>
>>214157977
I don't disagree, but that's most actors
>>
>>214151845
he had a based take in this one documentary i watched about film ratings. The conspiracy nut i am, led me to that shadow organization.
>>
He filmed a drag queen eating dog shit off the ground

What do you think
>>
>>214151845
Eh, on some things.
>>
>>214158657
What was his take?
>>
Based on what?
>>
is there any relation to Bobby Peru?
