>need a name for the wizard >notice your pad of 'droid names' >C3-0, OB-1, etc.>hey I can use OB and he hides as... Old Ben haha. >but he's not a machine, so uh... write it "Obi" hahaSo now he's "Obi" not OB, but he still uses the pun backronym "Old Ben"? ...Star Wars is fricken nonsense
I lost brain cells reading this post. OP does it again.
>>214155509>also write Wan instead of One
Obi-Wan Kenobi is unironically a cool name and somehow George came up with it all by himself, or maybe it was his ghost writing wife that did.
lucas fucked up this archetype, obi-wan really needed some feats before he diedas it is he seems like an old decepit retard who should have just trained luke and then died quietly in a cave, like yoda had the good sense to dohe instantly gets mogged by vader, which once again just seems like vader cutting down some old cookhe should have easily dispatched a whole squad of stormtroopers, or if the budget allowed, crush some giant robot threat, say the size of a light spacecraft, to show the power of the forcethis also could have woken han up to the force's potential, now that I think about it, han never really believed in the force, especially in the first moviedoes he even know that luke used the force to hit the target at the end? does he even know luke communes with obi-wan's ghost? does he think that luke is doing all that because he's a badass, even if luke believes it's because of the force?
>>214155509>dumbfuck op that never read the Star Wars rough draft scriptsbe more of an ignorant zoomer retardDid you know Artoo used to talk? They were an Abbot and Costello duo and he was the sarcastic one. Ben Kenobi BTW was a decorated, muscular war general. Not an honorary title for an old hermit. The script went through several massive revisions and each one is pretty much an alien movie to the '77 film we got.
>>214155748>he should have easily dispatched a whole squad of stormtroopers, or if the budget allowed, crush some giant robot threat, say the size of a light spacecraft, to show the power of the forceIf you go down that path, you get the prequels with their flippy-spinny superhero fights. There's nothing wrong with Obi-Wan's characterisation in ANH. He is a mentor, a giver of advice, and in some way a surrogate father figure. Luke only needs his counsel and encouragement, he doesn't need to see Obi-Wan pull off a Kratos against a horde of enemies.
>>214155748lucas is a fucking brainlet that read maybe one book in the early 70s about monadology while doing a bunch of lsd which the CIA pushed onto people which lead him into buddhism and then potentially which then lead him into writing STAR WARS.
>>214155544>is he chineses?>no
>>214155748Showing Obi Wan as some lord god badass would have killed all tension on whether the force is legit and can really help Luke. In the movie there's a tug-of-war between two sides. Obi Wan telling Luke he has to put his faith in the force and Han telling Luke it's all bullshit. If you portray Obi Wan like he's superman there's no reason for Han's character to even exist.
