>spend 10 years in development hell>finally comes out>no one likes ithow did they F#CK up that much?
>>214168502More like 20 years. Back 2002 there were rumors of this kid playing Artemis. They'd sunk so much time and money into it that everyone eventually just gave up on making anything good. Gotta make some kind of return on it, though, so quickly shit something out into the theatres and move on.
>>214169206Never read the bookis it unfilmable ? why was it so hard to make a movie out of a kids book
>>214168502Who is the Hagrid ripoff supposed to be?
Here's your eurasian bodyguard
>>214169432He's the least most offensive thing about this movie. It felt like Dungeons and Dragons 2000. Ghastly attempt.
the books stood out (from young adult fiction) because the main character is an antagonist in his world, the movie couldn’t do this because he’s essentially a criminal and western media can’t depict crime playing, it was late production when people realized this so years of development hell that ultimately resulted in having to shit out something systemically designed to be hated by everyone.
>>214168502the elf girl was a cute
>>214169301Absolutely not, it's essentially a heist film, or a high tension thriller in the same vein as Speed or something. But as >>214169517 pointed out we for some stupid reason can't have the main character also be the antagonist of the story. So in that regard, yes it's unfilmable. It just shouldn't be, and I will be salty about this until my dying day.
>>214169517We 100% can have the MC being a villain lol.Bloody Hannibal and everything down from that
This was certainly a film.
