Cage, I like Sam Neil but I don't really think his horror roles are iconic he just happens to be in good horror films. Cage has roles where he's the only one I can imagine playing it.

>>214173073
None of his horror roles are iconic. The role he's best known for is Ed Warren which looks and acts nothing like the real guy, has no memorable lines and doesn't carry a scene. He should get praised for making otherwise irredeemable dogshit movies like Insidious 2 tolerable with his playing it straight despite the script being one of the worst things ever made Warren-style possession (just watch a recent episode of Ghost Adventures where Zak pretends to be possessed, it's the same thing he learned from Lorraine) but those aren't iconic roles.

Patrick Wilson is also known for actually serious and good roles too.

kek no way. I'd guess maybe 25m just cuz Troma knows how to save cash. That medical debt thing is probably good marketing though cuz it's a ruse for libs. Basically they buy cheap debt from insurance agencies who think they can't collect it. Has a crazy ratio so was probably like 100k.

John Carpenter's Vampires was not as good as I remembered. I think the script failed the movie more than anything.

Haven't done this in a couple of weeks. It's time for my pointless, brief thoughts on what I just watched.

>I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)
Just like the majority of modern slashers, it's not bad, but not good. It's just a carbon copy of all the others, meaning it's very safe & sterile. It's amazing that a 48-year-old Sarah Michelle Gellar absolutely nuclear mogged the shit out of the main cast women. The most striking thing was just how better looking the main cast from the original was in comparison. Does Hollywood hate attractive actors, or are zoomers just uglier? Anyway, I did laugh at the "get on a boat and go to the Bahamas" exchange. The eating scene after the hospital was EXCRUCIATING to watch. Some of the worst dialog I've ever heard in a real budget movie.
>I Joined A Cult
FF #204. Not even horror, which I expected given the title and setup. Just a drama-thriller. Didn't like it, but it's watchable.
>The Glenarma Tapes
FF #205. A bit disjointed, especially at the end. Still liked it, but it's a 5-5.5/10. The actual horror part in the woods was good, but it gets dragged down with the family drama beforehand and the post woods scenes not being as good.

Near Dark is good. From Dusk Til Dawn is insufferable hoodrat emulation in a way that makes Vampires look like pure cinema.

This can work as a live-action remake, it even has multi-nationality casting for woke points (Just change the chink main guy with a white guy, nobody believes in a strong chinese actor) and make the ending a slight different They are all infected, so at the end the spaceship lands on the planet, the door opens, and their space suits are empty

Remember back in the late 90s/early 00s, when horror got a much needed dose of original and foreign horror films?
We had the New French Extremity as one example. It was Asian horror that kind of swept the genre up
Getting American remakes left, right and centre. Some as soon as a year after the original was released
I think that was a nice time for horror cinema

haven't seen the humming yet but personally i'd rate memento mori as the worst one of the 5 i watched

James Wan revitalized horror and gave it a bump up for sure. By early 2000s, the 90s era movies were fading. Then James Wan came and gave us a new Saw movie every year. Then gems like Dead Silence came out and we were definitely back in business. Paranormal Activity helped save the 2000s too.
Then by 2010, we were getting fatigued, then BAM! James Wan does it again
The Conjuring AND Insidious.
And after that, as they say, the rest is His Story (James Wan’s)
>>
Important films of 2000s
>Saw 1 2004 James Wan
>Dead Silence 2007 James Wan
>Paranormal Activity 2007
>Insidious 2010 James Wan
>the Conjuring 2013 James Wan
Pretty much what we have in horror today is still riding on the wave of James Wan.
>>
>>214191110
Those films dominated for almost 3 decades now and helped shape horror history.

Yeah, I will give him a horror credit. He leans toward thriller but definitely still horror. He didnt revitalize or do anything James Wan did. M Night is actual evelated slop post Signs.
