How do I say this...If a talisman can be any object why choose one that you have to wait to stop moving in order to tell if you are in a dream? Like a die with a fixed number makes sense. A coin flip. Hell even a playing card. But a spinning top? Thats just faux suspense.

>>214174537Ellen page was so cute for such a small lady.
>>214174681yeah she did a good jobhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WjpZ4TwCv4
>>214174730>she
>>214174537Wouldn't a coin flip require too many attempts before you actually know you're in a dream? It would require you getting multiple heads or tails in a row before you realize it. A fixed die is faster but wouldn't that also require a few throws since even fixed die only have a smaller chance of rolling that specific number instead of a guarantee?
>>214174745you got it babe
>>214174681>mfw i can never watch inception again
>>214174748>It would require you getting multiple heads or tails in a rowNot if you have it land on its side
>>214174748Well they specifically even say that a coin wouldn't work. Something like a loaded die was perfect. I'd choose a flask of wine.
>>214174789Still would and I'd rip that tube of flesh off in order to get to it
>>214174748What if it was Harvey Two-Face's coin?
>>214174817A flask in general doesn't seem like a bad idea. Any liquid container actually. Just hold it upside down and if you have a never-ending stream you're in a dream.
haha what about a line of coke
>>214174929do you have kids?
>>214174929>>214175029if you do, get a grip.
>>214174844I don't think she did the flesh tube surgery. Just cut her breasts off.
>>214175062haha imagine a never ending line of coke totem
>>214174537I still don't get why the top works as a totem - why does the dream world dictate that it can't fall over? The loaded die makes sense because in a dream it would behave/roll like a normal die, but why does the dream world automatically make the top violate physics?
death to jews
>>214175180Imagine she isn't really trans and just wanted to hide that she has breast cancer
>>214175187>i don'tcool
>>214175251>she isn't really transisn't anybody who says they are trans, trans?
>>214175251She isn't trans, everyone knows this. It's not cancer she's hiding, but years of sexual abuse by jews. Many such cases!
I was gonna watch this again last night but put on The Departed instead. Glad I did.
>>214175189In someone else's dream you are the only one that can create and shift the world. If you imagine a top spinning forever it will. But in the real world it doesn't work that way. Think of it like a minecraft server. If you start griefing the world someone will notice and probably come kick you out.
from a young age, as soon as a little girl meets a little boy, for the rest of her life, she just wants to be a boy. so for girls to slice off their tits, its just a weird version of their dumb childhood fantasy since girls never really grow up or mature. for men however, it's far worse, and far sicker. but no one ever stops to ask; despite them making less, being weaker, smaller, stupider, and in general just more retarded: why would anyone WANT to be a woman?? the only answer is mental illness. in which at that point...>>214175299...who cares what the mentally ill say or think?
>>214175316>She isn't trans, everyone knows this.what is trans? who is everyone?
>>214174748If the coin is weighted so that it always lands on its edge, that might do it.
>>214174537the spinning top was the dumbest talisman ever. in order for it to work they have to tell people it spins forever in dreams and doesn't act like you'd assume a top acts. literally the opposite of a talisman. if you got into someone's dream and didn't tell them it's supposed to spin forever you'd have no way of determining that you're in a dream. the talisman was supposed to have a hidden feature that only you know about
>>214175344>who cares what the mentally ill say or think?governments, apparently
>>214175383wait till you find out how mentally ill the average zogbot or glownigger is
>>214174917why on earth would it be never ending? if the person whose dream you are in believes it to be a flask it would just act like a flask.
>>214175392lol please
>>214175414very well, i laughed out loud.
>>214175410Why would a top perpetually spin? Same thing. It would still function like a flask but you could use it as a test like that since it would likely have more liquid than it can hold.
>>214175422you know everything? then do something.
>>214175454>just commit acts of violence goy>just vote!! lmao bro we're gonna vote this guy out in the next election haha it'll be so awesomei am just as powerless as you. neither of us are shakers and movers.
>>214175468>powerless lol fuck off
>>214175494 see >>214175468
>>214175499keep trying
>>214175517honestly, i misclicked. i meant to direct you to your own post >>214175454.
>Dude what if Nightmare on Elm St but with Oceans Eleven? Not the worst idea.
>>214175451>Why would a top perpetually spin?it wouldn't. that's why it's a retarded talisman. it would act like a normal top. the only way the top could work is if it's very poorly balanced and falls over immediately every time, in a dream it would spin like a normal top
I see you found the right board. I'll just repost what I said last time They should make a sequel to this>inb4 tenetDo it with a serial killer who has victims or bombs around but he knows they're invading his mind to extract the info so his subconscious is always on the alert. They should incorporate AI to make it more horrifying.
>>214175615>so his subconscious is always on the alertthey did that. di caprio even hinted towards it in the end on his last target. apparently its not a very effective countermeasure
>>214175635If you know you're dreaming and someone is attacking you in the dream, you should be able to do whatever you want. Your subconscious would be a problem but your conscious would also be They'd have to get through both. Honestly the wasted potential of Mal and Dom being gods in the Limbo world is what interests me. https://youtu.be/c56t7upa8Bk?si=TGrto5ShGghu4ANm
I love this scene but her accent ruins it. https://youtu.be/iCTAJ00nIlI?si=CNWFCoBkqAb85N6_
>>214175794>you should be able to do whatever you want.correct>wasted potential of Mal and Dom being gods in the Limbo world is what interests me and i as well. you'd think the flash would be even stronger than dr. manhattan, or literally any entity in existence, but his real weakness is bad writing. in fact every (super) hero's mortal enemy is a bad writer.
>>214175575The reason the top spins forever is because Di Caprio caused it to be that way. He spins the top and plants it in his wife's subconscious to give her the idea that it would only spin in the fake world. It never actually was meant to keep spinning. It was just a product of the original inception
>>214175954why does he keep using it after her death?
The whole premise is dumb shit.>i might be in a false reality>i will have a test that checks whether or not I'm in a false reality>this test will consist of something that is physically impossible or at least improbable. It's like a video game character saying "I'll know I'm in a video game if a wild Missingno appears."
>>214176009While sleeping, you've never realized you were dreaming and did something impossible like floating? You sound dumb as shit.
>>214175973Because the reason she ends up killing herself is because of that idea he put in her head. The reason no one was allowed to fuck with another person's talisman was because of what he'd done. From then on it was impossible for HER to be sure. But it worked for everyone else.
By the way the reason its not a dream is because the people in the airport don't stare. If it was a dream his subconscious would've been on alert.
>>214174537>films with dishonest suspense?
>tom hardy>cillian murphy>my cocain>joeseph gordan-LevittAlright. What batmancharacter did Ellen Page turn down?
>>214176138A few of them do. It makes sense that his crew would but you also see some staff and wayfarers glare at him.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66KannJ-g9A
>>214174537That token was his crazy dead wifes. He was compromised from before the film began.
>>214176102What happened was Mal stopped the top from spinning and locked it away do she would believe the limbo was their real world. Dom wanted to get out so he spun the top but he fucked up by locking it in her subconscious. From then on Mal had the nagging feeling that the world was a dream and because there was no "kick" to wake them the only way to escape was suicide. Even if she spun the top she could never be sure because of what was planted in her head by Dom. So the top stops working for her, yes but for Dom and everyone else the concept works. Thats why Saito is also able to let it spin without stopping.
Time is better than it should be and I wish it was in a different soundtrack.
Why wasn’t this dream tech not mass produced and sold to everyone rather than just remaining in some small stinky 3rd world hotel
>>214176089You can't do impossible things. They're looking for that.
>>214176009No you aren’t understanding it. As others have said, the top is a stupid totem, but the idea is solid. So say I have a weighted die that always lands on 2 or whatever, but I tell no one the die does that. In the dream, because someone else made the dream, the die will act normal, or at least not in the way my die irl works. So you’d know it’s not your dice. The top is stupid tho, it makes no sense. Unless for some reason tops in dreams just spin forever, but that doesn’t follow the logic of the totems as laid out in the movie. Btw I actually wrote a term paper in college on this movie lmao. I’ve thought WAY too fucking much about this movie and I regretted my choice of term paper almost immediately
>>214176396It was... it was military tech to practise being stabbed and shot. Di Caprio was taught by his dad (michael caine) to use it but because he was framed by his wife he had to go underground and use it for idea stealing. Corporations used the tech to train against idea thieves and thats where a lot of the action comes from in the movie. The target had training against the dream invaders.
>>214176396It was also being used so people could share dreams and would make it so people had to go under and use that machine just to make their dreams into a reality.
>>214176444Nice trips but easily the most ludicrous idea of the film. Glowies wouldn't spend bank for tech to better train dumb fuck midwestern dipshits to get killed for the good of the country. Look at the last 50 years. Lives are way cheaper than R&D.
>>214176548This was all stuff from the movie. The reason they don't just spawn giant bombs and shit because the subject would realize they are dreaming and start waking up.
>>214176396I haven't seen the movie in forever but wasn't there a scene with a warehouse of people hooked up to machines that were addicted to living in their dreams? seems pretty widespread if people are abusing it
>>214176761I remember that scene but I think it was a mostly underground thing. You have to know a guy who knows a guy type of deal
>>214176994But the military was using it and were training people to defend against dream invaders
>>214176619Wasn't that a plothole though? They did the classic "if you die in the dream, you die in the real world" but with extra steps. They didn't do the reverse: if you realize you're dreaming, you realize you're dreaming in the real world.
>>214175251>Hiding an amazing source of sympathyIf so she might really be a male deep down
>>214174537idiot. only the owner knows exactly how many seconds it should spin.
>>214175344>despite them making less,Not true
>>214177147Not really. i explained wrong. Being sedated they weren't really waking up but the dream would collapse and the subconscious would begin creating people to fight against the invaders. It's why the scene with ellen page creating and twisting the city exists. So she can learn that eventually you could make it so the subconscious would kill you. She's trying in that scene to wake up but she was sedated and it wasn't until she's killed that she can. However because they needed to do the "dream within a dream within a dream" thing they needed to be so sedated that if they were killed it would put them in limbo.A freight train comes through the city but since Cillian Murphy already knew to fight against the invaders the dream doesn't automatically collapse
>>214177235Where the fuck did you get that from?
I saw Inception in the theatre and it was honestly mind blowing like I’d seen a new paradigm for cinema. Then a couple years later I tried watching it on a laptop and found it too boring and meh to even make it half way. Exact same experience with Avatar.
Is Tenet really the sequel tothis?
>>214176201Probably batgirl
>>214177389Common sense and because it's the simplest explanation. the only one actually.
>>214177609no not at all and tenet isn't very good, it's basically a long drawn out tech demo for their backwards filming/cgi. it doesn't have anything at all to do with inception but it is another heist movie with a ton of action. the plot premise is pretty lame though.
