in season 1 and whenever tony nearly got whacked by junior's black guys the feds approach him in the hospital and try to talk to her but tony tells them to fuck off but she basically considers it to get out of the mob together which tony ridicules. the feds can't "get to" her because she doesn't know shit because tony and her are in a dysfunctional marriage where she transactionally puts up with his distance and cheating in return for being a stay at home wife with shiny jewelry and expensive hairdos in the big house, its like 70% of the plot of the show. carmela was unapproachable and never commit any crimes, adriana was facing something because she owned the club where they were dealing or some bullshit.
