>A thread about nothing!!
Wait a minute. Was the show about nothing actually the premise for Seinfeld and not just the fake tv show they were pitching?
>>214197794A thread about nothing? It’s gotta be about something.
>>214197843so literally every thread on /TV/?
Kramer gets gaped.
>>214197908boom, that's a show
>>214198335Not yet
>what did you do today>I got up at 2pm, made some hot pockets and posted in a Snood thread>boom that's a show
bump
>>214197794Why does seinfeld have a more enduring popularity than curb? You hardly see curb being discussedAlso rate the following, for me it'sLarry sanders>seinfeld>curb
>>214200040larry sanders deserves a proper high resolution release so i can replace my old 480p files
>>214200040Because George isn't strong enough to carry a show on his own. He only plays so well with Jerry as the main character. That's why the Curb formula didn't work. Just because Larry David / George was the funniest doesn't mean he works as a protagonist.
>>214200040Seinfeld is just more memorable and has way more zany writing than curb could ever have. Curb was losing steam so much they had to introduce a Kramer like character with Leon and resort to the cheap gimmick of Leon doing 'wyte folx do this, us black folx do that'
>>214200079Leon was great tho
I just rewatched this episode. The Joe Davolawas kinda weirder than I remember

How is Seinfeld more of a show about nothing than say, Friends? Differences in execution aside, the premise for both is remarkably similar. Shit, at least Seinfeld has the main character being a comedian as somewhat of a theme.
>>214200273Friends is the result of Seinfeld changing the way sitcoms were written.
>>214198980>showThread, you ruined your own post.
JERRYJERRY SHE GOT GAPED
>>214197794>the janny of the board treated me, one thread about nothing
>>214200814>I know. I'm the one who gaped her.
>>214197843Critics were calling Seinfeld a show about nothing and they were obviously parodying that label into their fake show.
>>214200040Larry David is not a very likable person so his show suffers due to him being on there the whole time. Seinfeld has likable people so its a better show.
JERRY WE'RE GOING TO GAZA
>>214197794I'm watching this episode right now This is when the show started to decline as far as I can tell
>>214201011I don't understand. The conceit of the show is that it's how a comedian gets his material. On an episode-to-episode basis, it's about the characters getting into situations with comedic outcomes. How is Seinfeld "about nothing" in a way that FRIENDS or TBBT or HIMYM or any other sitcom isn't?
>>214200137>muh dick the characterHe had his moments, but that was moreso due to the plot than his actual improvised dialogue.
>>214200040All the other answers are true, but the big reason is that only 25% of American TV viewers get HBO. Network TV reaches everyone.
>>214201316I also want to know this and ive only ever watched Seinfeld.
>>214201316>>214202043Growing up watching Seinfeld reruns my entire life I never thought of Seinfeld itself as the "show about nothing." That was "Jerry." I think people just latch on to that because they havent seen every single episode 100+ times. It's a show about many many things, mostly small business owners and relationships.
>>214201316It's not literally about nothing, but what was distinct is that the plots were often about incredibly insignificant things, like waiting for a table at a restaurant, or the size of a woman's hands, or a coworker who didn't wear a bra. The characters never grew or improved. It was about the little "nothings" that make up every day.
