BLEGH
>>214200016I want to share with you my theory of Raul Newney. Raul Newney was a black guy who played a doctor in the middle of the original film, just before Kirsty unleashes the Cenobites. Importantly, the doctor actually has the box in his possession for a little bit (just enough time to handle it, get curious about it), and then gives it back to Kirsty. Newney has a sort of large, aqualine nose, and a short afro hairdo. At the end of the film, the cycle repeats as the vendor re-sells the box to a new customer. The new, silhouetted figure looks very much like Raul Newney. If I could ask Barker anything, I would ask if it was Newney who played the silhouetted figure, or if that was his intention. The idea that this middle Doctor-guy is the next customer makes sense in every way. A guy gets hold of the box, hangs onto it for a few minutes, then gets rid of it. He gets curious enough about it that he goes to Morocco to get it back. It's the mad doctor thing (Frankenstein), which is on full display in the next sequel.
>>214200030He was literally a young boy and he was sucked into this shit. In the sequel, they are all zapped back to their original, human forms. He is revealed to be a boy around 12 or so, nailed to the horrorpost.Imagine being the body double, a kid. The costumers put you in this weird black gown thing, walk you into the scary black set, and then fasten you to a turning pole prop thing. The director says "okay kid, just act like you're dead". A few takes, done.
>>214200213The theme of the older brunette female protecting the young blonde girl compares very well with Aliens. Also, William Hope appeared in both films, in similar capacities, first as Gorman, the green C.O. who messes up, then later as some hospital guy who gets along with Kirsty but becomes meat, because he's in over his head again.
>>214200269Yeah, unfortunately a toy box would naturally attract a curious kid. There was more backstory on him, either in a comic or a book, but I've forgotten at this point. Lazlo, A.K.A. Butterbean was a glutton of some kind and I don't remember the female cenobite's origin but she seemed like a nice lady prior to it.
>>214200307Damn I forgot Hope played Gorman. For some reason his role that sticks in my head is the freemason in Sherlock Holmes.
>>214200016We are jannies. Based to some, cringe to others.
>>214200030Coomed too hard.
The first movie holds up well for a horror film
>>214200030Gingivitis
I have a soft spot for Hellraiser 2, especially the soundtrack, but the first one is a lot better, qualitywise.
The flapjacks, you buttered and syurp'd them, we ate.
>>214200072You should see it at a party when he whips his head around and it gets caught on everyone clothing. Buffoon..

>>214200449I think 2 is better than one in every way besides 1's introduction of the cenobites and the frank revivification scene. 2 doesnt try to be scary and its better for it because 1 isnt scary at all
>>214201587>>214201623Fucking hilarious.

>>214202280I wonder if this was made in the 70's, would he have records sticking out of his head instead of CD's? Maybe 8 tracks?
This comic series was scarier than all the films combined.
>>214202584some kind of reel to reel tape yoyos maybe. i very nearly love hellraiser 3 and think it would be a fantastic movie with an edit to mostly remove cd's scenes.
>>214200330Wasn't the female cenobite the mistress of the guy who created the lament configuration?
>>214200016Will the upcoming video game be kino? I just want a Jericho sequel.https://youtu.be/R88QdlIlg-E?si=bUDLjtd6_F3h6hpO

>>214200449i like how the other cenobytes are all horrific deformed monsters but butterball is just having a good time
>>214204991>is butterball okay?.....
How'd you guys like the reboot thing? Didnt watch
>>214205067It definitely had its moments. The ending with the cenobite transformation was my favorite part.
>>214200030Stuck halfway to becoming the perfect organism
>>214200030hellraiser 5 is a great movies and talks about his origins, he was supposed to be a young boy so i guess that was changed i dunno but i liked it a lot
>>214200030Nobody likes a chatterbox.
>>214200269So a boy just played with the box and got sucked? Doesn't he have to desire pleasure beyond mortal understanding
>>214205067I read it on wikipedia, so I'm qualified to answer. A lot of the innocent deaths of young people, the main bad guy gets his reward of collecting souls by getting turned into a cenobite. I don't know what you can expect of a reboot for a nearly 40 year old franchise, but skip it. There's enough ugliness in the world.
>>214205115Not to derail the thread but have you read Malleus Malificarum all the way? It's like news paper clippings of crazy stories. like that one guy who made a deal with a demon, but didn't hold up his end. Then the demon appeared and farted and it was so bad the guy killed himself and went to hell.
>>214200181It does seem odd that the doctor thrusts the box back on Kirsty as soon as she wakes up, even though it was marked with blood and probably should have been given to the police.
>>214202628That's Angelique, a different character, and she was a demon to begin with.
>>214200449I think 2 was nearly the same quality, doctor was the best cenobite yet
>>214205314Yeah, but I stopped paying attention when it turned into a rock opera.
>>214205314The dance number was far too complex.
>>214200016It was good.
Oh, no tears please.
>>214205659It's better than all the direct-to-video sequels, but still not really what I wanted. The original Hellraiser broke 80s slasher trends and set itself apart from the crowd, whereas this reboot is following the trends of its time.Still, I give them credit for trying out a new aesthetic for the cenobites, and I also thought the tranny made a decent Pinhead.
