now that the dust has settled, what went right?
>>
Not Todd that mf aged poorly
>>
>>214205197
It was fine, just kind of superfluous. I don't think anyone watched all the way to the end of Breaking Bad and thought it desparately needed closure for Jesse's plotline. I thought it was sufficient to show he had escaped with the car and could finally achieve peace on his own terms
>>
>>214205197
I fucking hate Jesse so much it's unreal
>does the same shit as the scumbags around him but always blames someone else for it
>never learns anything, remains a blue-eyed whiny little bitch all the way through El Camino
>ready to betray Walt as soon as a new father figure shows up, even when he had just cried about said father figure murdering kids 5 seconds earlier
>sells drugs to recovering addicts, gets his sober gf back into doing drugs
he did not deserve to make it out
>>
>>214205197
jesse was old, crack damon became fat damon, and walter's head was fucking huge. 4/10.
>>
>>214205197
It was an alright episode

>I thought it was sufficient to show he had escaped with the car and could finally achieve peace on his own terms
that was the ending of his plot line in BrBa
and the same dumb ending in El Camino. WASTE of time.
>>
The ambiguity of Jesse's ending in BrBa was the perfect last word on his character. Maybe he escapes to Alaska, maybe he swallows a shotgun 2 hours later, but he's finally free for the first time since literally the pilot. El Camino just felt unnecessary.
>>
As someone who hates Jesse, I enjoyed these additional scenes of him being tormented by Todd.

You are a trustworthy man like me. It felt good when Walt said "I watched Jane die. I was there"
>>
>>214205197
It adds to a finished story without retroactively damaging it, can't give it higher praise than that
>>
>>214205779
>It felt good when Walt said "I watched Jane die. I was there"
Hell yeah kill everyone named Jane
>>
>>214205749
did todd rape jesse?
>>
>>214205197
It did a great job of replicating that frantic suspense and intensity during the best episodes of S4 for a full 2hr with some depressing flashback scenes to let the audience breathe all while being a neo-Western too. It answers the question of what happened to Jesse and puts to rest the ambiguitytards who argued Walt survives. Conclusions for other characters like Badger and Skinny was nice too. Neat film. Very rewatchable for fans of the show who don't want to rewatch the series.
>>
>>214205551
Don't forget ol' pissy eyes got her son killed. If he had never gone to recovery to prey on dopefiends then that kid would have lived.
Fuck Jesse, he is a reddit character.
>>
>>214206143
>Jesse and puts to rest the ambiguitytards who argued Walt survives.

I haven't heard that argument before. It's extremely contrarian, because BrBa doesn't end like The Sopranos with a mystifying cut to black. We were shown Walt dying on screen.
>>
>>214205197
The western shootout at the end was both completely unnecessary and retarded. Vince Gilligan is a hack.
>>
>>214206213
>We were shown Walt dying on screen
Erm, akctuaelly we see him fall to the ground. It is never stated he died.
>>
>>214205618
Yes that's exactly my point. His plot ended fine in Breaking Bad. We didn't need El Camino
>>
Did they ever explain why Todd became fat?

It's a bad movie and only diminishes the Breaking Bad universe, HOWEVER it does help Better Call Saul by

1. having that awful reverent "Oh my God, it's the Breaking Bads..." hallway shot with Brian Cranston wearing a conehead. If that kind of thing had been saved for BCS it would have been twice as gay.

and

2. Get all that faux-Western wannabee stuff out of Vince Gilligan's system. That was originally reserved for Jeff and once El Camino was finished, Jeff turned into Jeffy who was a highlight and more right for a Saul story.

So there's that. Otherwise it was gay. Looking at the camera "Remember Magnets??" and Fat Todd with pepperoni. They should make another movie where picrel goes to Mexico and shoots Brock in the face.
>>
>>214206235
I remember Norm McDonald tweeting about how he thinks Walt died right after calling Flynn from the bar because he takes a long breath and then everything starts magically working in his favor
>>
>>214205551
>blames someone else for it
Did you miss the part where he's the only one in the show who feels remorse for his actions?
>>
>>214206985
Felt like Plemons did it to fuck with Vince considering he wasn't fat in Game Night, which came out just a year prior, and any other movie since El Camino.
>>
>>214206143
You probably think marvel end credit scenes are riveting world building. The flick genuinely adds nothing to BrBa's ending and retroactively cheapens it.
>Gee I wonder what happens to Jesse after he's cathartically freed and drives away never to be seen again
>Oh wow he actually drove around town for a bit and did some errands before he... is driven away never to be seen again!
>>
>>214205670
There's no way he's evading the cops.

I don't think its a BAD movie but it was really unnecessary. It honestly felt like Vince did it for Aaron out of pity.
Ultumately I think it takes away a great deal of
mystique and ambiguity from the ending of Breaking Bad.
The only mention of what happened to Jesse or Walt should have only been done through news and radio reports during the Gene segments of BCS.
>>
>>214205551
This. He fucked up so much shit and gets none of the blame. He didn't deserve the good ending. But arguably half the major shit that got them into trouble was his fault.
>>
The fact that Jesse Plemons seems to have the endless determination to keep making several of these weird art movies with Emma Stone every year ad infinitum but wouldn't lose weight for El Camino really pisses me off
>>
Would have been a million times better as a 2 episode arc in one of the later seasons of Better Call Saul
>>
Vince Gilligan owes me a movie or episode where fat tits in robe lady appears topless if not fully nude.
>>
I've watched Breaking Bad twice and never even got near to watching El Camino
>>
>>214210358
>It honestly felt like Vince did it for Aaron out of pity.
Except that's literally what happened.
>>
>>214210435
The funny part is that he wasn't even his fat back then, so it's not like he had to shed half his weight or something, just a couple of pounds
>>
>>214205197
This is the Rogue One to Better Call Saul's Andor.
>>
>>214208501
Does he feel remorse or does he just feel sorry for himself for 5 seasons? It could've been an interesting character if he actually had a character arc, but he just continues doing all of this horrible shit and then crying because he did horrible shit (or at least contributed to said horrible shit happening).
>>
I'm not gonna lie. It took me a moment to realize Todd was Todd.
>>
>>214205197
It was a boring cash grab. At least Better Call Saul had some good writing and interesting ideas, even if it also never needed to exist.
>>
>>214208501
>Feels remorse for his actions
>Repeat them 5 minutes later
>>
>>214211421
That's how most people act, you fucking retard. The whole film shows his path towards redemption.
>>
>>214212203
What redemption? He gets innocent people killed, is held captive and tortured by neo-nazis, and then fucks up into success in El Camino.
>>
>>214205551
>ready to betray Walt as soon as a new father figure shows up
Based, Walt is a faggot.

A large part of why El Camino exists is because a significant portion of Breaking Bad fans are absolute retards and Vince needed an excuse to put out that news report that Walt was confirmed to be dead.
>>
>>214205197
Everything it did right is everything TMSON did wrong
>didn't go back in time to retcon the whole show, including scenes that were already shown as flashbacks
>didn't completely alter the aesthetic, theme, pacing, dialogue, cinematography, color design, etc
>didn't engage the main plot in any way, just added a side plot that has 0 impact on the show
>didn't include weird cuckolding scenes or other weird modern political messaging
>didn't have characters overuse lines that were memed online from the show
>>
>>214211213
>>214211421
What causes low IQ posters to defensively lash out rather than internalize the (correct) response to their inane questions? Neither point you brought up disproves that he felt remorse and you couldn't pick up on that by watching the show. It's a cycle that repeats over and over again and makes up most of the plot of the show
>Walt convinces Jesse to make meth
>During the process something ethically egregious happens
>Jesse feels terrible and wants to quit
>Walt manipulates him into coming back
The whole point of Jesse as a character is that him and Walt subvert your expectations, you think this stupid junkie dropout will do whatever to make a quick buck but it's actually the wholesome reddit family man science teacher that has no limit.
