>>214205975is that the ADL guy?
i'd love a modern day 12 angry men reboot where one trantifa jury plant slowly manipulates 11 people into letting a george floyd-esque 30x violent felon go on a crime he obviously committed and has done before under almost the exact same circumstances, all caught, tried, and convicted for in those instances of coursebecause i'd love to see how it works. apparently it must work something like that with how often it happens in reality
>>214206027i know absolutely nothing about court procedure or the workings of a jury deliberation but i'm pretty much 100% certain that if a group of random jurors were actually talking about a case and somebody seriously said or implied "the witnesses were lying" they'd be looked at like a nutcase, awkwardly ignored for the next 30 minutes, and kicked off the jury the next time a bailiff or somebody came in. it's an absolutely psychotic thing to say
>>214206093Especially in the 1950s when eyewitness testimony was all people had. If you say that you can't trust witnesses you may as well never, ever convict anybody for anything.
>>21420609312 angry men is a well made movie but a nonsensical one nevertheless
>>214206093So how are they supposed to talk about the case then? They're not automatons or bureaucrats? Isn't the whole point on getting a jury of peers for them to be bringing a human element to the procedings? Are you not supposed to talk and debate the case in the jury room?I mean what's the point of a jury then anyway.I really doubt some lazybones goober shmuck juror is going to be "by the book" and look at the evidence and testimonies like Spock and calculate exactly the probabilities and truthfulness of everything innately.

>>214205975
>>214206027You don't have to prove he didn't do itJust that he reasonably might have not
>>214206064It's not quite that, and it's probably not the atmosphere you're seeking, but "juror no 2" is about a guy ending up on a trial for a murder he committed and trying to manipulate the jury throughout

So if he didn't do it then a man broke into his father's house, stabbed the guy only one time, didn't steal anything from the house and left all in the span of 2 minutes. No motive, no signs of violence or struggle or trespassing. Father just got killed because a wizard did it.

>>214206909I know you're lying but let's say a hitman did it because the father was involved with the wrong people. Why was this never brought up in the movie?

The overlapping coincidences that have to align to create a situation in which the kid did not kill his father collapse the chances down effectively to nothing.
>>214206998> I know you're lyingWhatever helps you sleep at night and keeps you paying taxes.

>>214207051He, knowing what the knife looked like already, went out browsing for one and bought it intentionally, but that's not really the nature of the coincidence he's suggesting that by pure random chance, the exact same make of knife out of any other prospective weapon was bought and used to kill the father, in the narrow window between the knife's purchase by the boy and his (also by chance) losing it.If some woman was murdered one night, heard screaming "NO, GUNTHER, DONT DO IT", and the prime suspect was her Uncle Gunther who was visiting that week and only that week, and fearless sleuth Juror 8 showed up with a telephone directory and demonstrated that, in fact that there are a couple other Gunthers in town so the suspect should be let off, everyone would look at him like he was fucking retarded. The knife is a manipulative sleight of hand, the movie first presents an 0 percent chance of innocence, then shifts to something like a 0.1 percent chance and the viewer is supposed to be amazed that a """reasonable""" window of doubt has been blown wide open.
>>214207188because your barely functional country's method of beating the accused to death in the street with rocks and your dirty, brown, sandalled feet is much better, right pablo?

I guess a knife just manifested right into the man's chest out of thin air. Pack it up, boys. We solved the case. Nobody killed the father. Maybe he killed himself, like Epstein.
Could the knife, perhaps, have been placed in the corpse after the fact using an intricate string pulley system?

Yes, you are expected to actually follow rules of deliberation since it's the best course instead of, "Well, I just didn't like what the juror said."

I saw 12 Angry Men when I was 15 years old at the local cinema. It was my first date with my highschool sweetheart, who is now my loyal asian wife (She's originally from taiwan but I like to think of her as an asian woman). I didn't remember a thing of the movie back then so every 10 year anniversary we rewatch it and try to respark that firstdate-vibe and it works everytime. I still have no clue what the films about other than some smug getting killed for some money or whatever it was.

There was literally no evidence against the dude and I made the argument for about fifteen minutes but everyone just wanted to go home or go back to work. It was a full jury of women of course except for a couple others. One girl was crying because she was afraid once this guy got out of prison he was going to hunt her down for voting guilty. I told her don't worry as soon as he gets out of prison he's going to go kill this bitch prosecuting him you'll be fine. Should have saw the look on her face lmao.

I wish that my wife’s parents would be murdered (and have nothing to do with me) so that we could get the inheritance earlier and that I would be looked at as the prime suspect and brought in for interrogation so that I could use all the tips and tricks I’ve learned watching videos on YouTube to show my innocence and make the detectives feel silly for even suspecting me.

>>214206093The problem is Juror 8 held a whole new trial in the backroom introducing new evidence and theories that hadn't been talked about in the court room with no party acting as opposition or being given a chance to actually challenge his theories. He brings in a copy of the knife that was supposedly unique as key evidence that anyone could've done the crime - how are the jury supposed to know it's a credible piece of evidence? How do they know the knife wasn't unique AT THE TIME but has since been sold en masse? How do they know that the old man couldn't move fast if he wanted to, they just assume he hobbled down the stairs and there was never a chance for a prosecutor to disprove or challenge it.Instead #8 held the room hostage, coerced the jurors into holding a new backroom trial which neither the defense nor prosecution had knowledge of, introduced new uncleared evidence and theories that couldn't be properly challenged or addressed, all over the course of a few hours when everyone was exhausted. In actuality these jurors would go back in, declare Not Guilty to everyone's shock, go home and have a sleep, and once rested and free of group coercion at least one or two would talk to the judge and explain they had held a second trial. And if one hadn't, a few of the jurors would be getting shit on by friends and family for "letting the little spic killer back on the streets" and they'd spill the beans about #8s little secret trial and word would get back to the State anyways. The verdict wouldn't be reversed, but #8 would likely see some jail time and the whole proceeding would become a scandal.

And like the accused would explain what happened in his words, and then like some witch would take a bunch of ayahuasca while the village collectively molested the kids and they'd decide the accused fate based on the drug induced ramblings of the witch and how many kids cried.
