We will probably never get anything like this ever again.
>>
Because 14 years of tories playing musical chairs was so absurd you can't expect people to believe British politics is anything but an orgy for rich people

We did, we got West Wing

The Thick of It came out during the era when Labor was in, and it's an S-tier comedy and political show despite its obvious political bias.
>>
>>214208481
No, we won't. It's forever unmatched. Be grateful we have it.
>>
>>214208481

I mean, do we need anything like it again? Thick Of It was a fun watch but it's incredibly "of its time", the whole reason Yes Minister/Yes, PM are so incredible is despite being so very obviously not-modern it's still absolutely accurate and relevant in the way it characterises the cynicism and buffoonery of politics and the civil service. I hate to think was a dull, unfunny, preachy, instantly-dated mess we would get if they tried to remake it now.
>>
There's a reason we won't get anything like this again... and it boils down to the standard five excuses.
>>
Okay, so I fucking love Thick of It and I've watched it countless of times but I didn't know about Yes Minister (I'm not British). Am I gonna love it?
>>
>>214208905
Whereas a show written by Thatcher's speechwriter (Sir Anthony Jay) to explain Public Choice Theory to the general public had no political bias at all.

It is actually possible PCT isn't entirely true and that mass privatization of everything from water to railways hasn't in fact made the country a better place.

But what about the Rhodesia solution?
>>
>>214210666
Whataboutism is never an intelligent or insightful response, anon
I never said that the original series' didn't have political biases'.

Politicians at least used to be well spoken but not they're all ugly retards

That's what happens when you let the lower classes into politics

I never said there was a solution. I offered only excuses. After all, while it has been government policy to regard policy as the responsibility of ministers, and administration as the responsibility of officials, the questions of administrative policy can cause confusion between the policy of administration and the administration of policy, especially when responsibility for the administration of the policy of administration conflicts, or overlaps with, responsibility for the policy of the administration of policy.

>HUMPHREY. The only way to understand an imageboard is to remember that they pander to their posters' prejudices.
>JIM. Don't tell me about imageboards. I know exactly who lurks 4chan. /b/ is read by people who think they run the site; /g/ is read by people who think they ought to run the site; /hm/ is read by the people who actually do run the site; /lgbt/ is read by the boyfriends of the people who run the site; /j/ is read by people who own the site; /qa/ is read by people who think the site ought to be run by another site; and /pol/ is read by people who think it is.
>HUMPHREY. Prime Minister, what about the people who read /tv/?
>BERNARD. /tv/ readers don't care who runs the site, as long as she's cute and funny.

Who cares about political bias as long as it's funny
>>
>>214210666
Odd how the Labour party has doubled and tripled down on these policies for the last few decades unless the industry is completely bankrupt and they can bail it out with public money.

>>214209470
In addition to that, YM/YPM stood alone on their own as comedies. You didn't have to know or care about politics to get a laugh of them, moreso than ToI.

For a long time, I thought this was Alec Guiness, because he looked just like Smiley in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

I remember I watched an episode once and it was just HAHA GOVERNMENT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING AND ONLY EXISTS SO CIVIL SERVANTS CAN GET A SALARY
They made a whole show of that one joke?
>>
>>214214769
There's also an episode about secretly getting pissed at an Arab Embassy
>>
>>214214769
My friend, they made two entire shows, 30 eps plus a special, of just that one joke.
>>
>>214214769
Theres an episode where the Israeli ambassador leaks intel and tells the PM what to do
Theres an episode where they are making fun of their outdated nuclear defense arsenal and how if they would be attacked it better be between Monday to Friday
Theres an episode where the PM wants to disclose some info to the press and his advisor keeps telling him how it's not their problem X happened

>>214214801
This was great; their codewords for going to add some vodka to the bottomless OJs they were being served.
>>
>>214214801
I used to work in high-end London casinos and Arabs are constantly pissed and hanging out with hookers.

There was a talking fox in Yes, Minister?
>>
