We will probably never get anything like this ever again.
Because 14 years of tories playing musical chairs was so absurd you can't expect people to believe British politics is anything but an orgy for rich people
>>214208481We did, we got West Wing
>>214208481>>214208709The Thick of It came out during the era when Labor was in, and it's an S-tier comedy and political show despite its obvious political bias.
>>214208481No, we won't. It's forever unmatched. Be grateful we have it.
>>214208481>>214208997I mean, do we need anything like it again? Thick Of It was a fun watch but it's incredibly "of its time", the whole reason Yes Minister/Yes, PM are so incredible is despite being so very obviously not-modern it's still absolutely accurate and relevant in the way it characterises the cynicism and buffoonery of politics and the civil service. I hate to think was a dull, unfunny, preachy, instantly-dated mess we would get if they tried to remake it now.
There's a reason we won't get anything like this again... and it boils down to the standard five excuses.
Okay, so I fucking love Thick of It and I've watched it countless of times but I didn't know about Yes Minister (I'm not British). Am I gonna love it?
>>214208905Whereas a show written by Thatcher's speechwriter (Sir Anthony Jay) to explain Public Choice Theory to the general public had no political bias at all.It is actually possible PCT isn't entirely true and that mass privatization of everything from water to railways hasn't in fact made the country a better place.
>>214210366But what about the Rhodesia solution?
>>214210666Whataboutism is never an intelligent or insightful response, anonI never said that the original series' didn't have political biases'.
>>214208481Politicians at least used to be well spoken but not they're all ugly retards
>>214210884That's what happens when you let the lower classes into politics
>>214208820
>>214210735I never said there was a solution. I offered only excuses. After all, while it has been government policy to regard policy as the responsibility of ministers, and administration as the responsibility of officials, the questions of administrative policy can cause confusion between the policy of administration and the administration of policy, especially when responsibility for the administration of the policy of administration conflicts, or overlaps with, responsibility for the policy of the administration of policy.

>>214208905Who cares about political bias as long as it's funny
>>214210666Odd how the Labour party has doubled and tripled down on these policies for the last few decades unless the industry is completely bankrupt and they can bail it out with public money.
>>214209470In addition to that, YM/YPM stood alone on their own as comedies. You didn't have to know or care about politics to get a laugh of them, moreso than ToI.
>>214208481>We will probably never get anything like this ever again.
For a long time, I thought this was Alec Guiness, because he looked just like Smiley in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
>>214212574Very well
I remember I watched an episode once and it was just HAHA GOVERNMENT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING AND ONLY EXISTS SO CIVIL SERVANTS CAN GET A SALARYThey made a whole show of that one joke?
>>214214769There's also an episode about secretly getting pissed at an Arab Embassy
>>214214769My friend, they made two entire shows, 30 eps plus a special, of just that one joke.
>>214214769Theres an episode where the Israeli ambassador leaks intel and tells the PM what to doTheres an episode where they are making fun of their outdated nuclear defense arsenal and how if they would be attacked it better be between Monday to FridayTheres an episode where the PM wants to disclose some info to the press and his advisor keeps telling him how it's not their problem X happened
>>214214801This was great; their codewords for going to add some vodka to the bottomless OJs they were being served.
>>214214801I used to work in high-end London casinos and Arabs are constantly pissed and hanging out with hookers.

FUN FACT: the guy who played Bernard had a talking puppet fox do the eulogy at his funeral!
>>214217033He was on that show.
>>214217232There was a talking fox in Yes, Minister?
>>214217246No he was only in YPM
>>214217246Basil Brush played the Queen in the Christmas special
>>214217518>BOOM BOOMWhat did he mean by this?
