The founding father of capeslop, who single-handedly destroyed a century of cinema history
You won
Spider-Man was the more successful 2002 movie
Independent movie.
The Matrix trilogy was more capeshitesque, especially the third film.
The budget was $115 million and that was George Lucas' own money.
>>214212044And before that>George Lucas used a combination of his profits from the original Star Wars and a bank loan to finance The Empire Strikes Back, which had a final budget of $30 million.I don't see anyone else taking risks like this and delivering.
>grrr star wars gave us capeslop>grrr lotr gave us capeslop>grrr harry potter gave us capeslop>grrr matrix gave us capeslop>grrr spider man gave us capeslop>grr your mom gave us capeslopIf you hate superhero films then just attack them without dragging every other mainstream late 90s or early 2000s action-adventure-fantasy IP into the mix
>>214211933How crazy is two towers and AOTC was that year
>>214211709Cinema lost.
>>214212005AotC started the trend of making 99% of sets just be CGI video game slop. Thankfully cinema is healing starting with Spider-Man Brand New Day.
>>214212089> every year a new LOTR movie> every year a new solid Spider-Man or X-Men movie> every year a new Harry Potter movie> every year a new SW prequelCrazy how hype it felt to go to the cinema in the early 2000's. Movies were an event. No wonder zoomers and alphas are such miserable little shits.
>>214212866That was truly the peak. Now Netflix has taken over, at least you don't have to worry about people in the movie theater ruining the experience.
>>214211565It began in 1977 retard
>>214211565You would have posted A New Hope if you were brave
>>214212838I wonder if it's really Tom doing the swinging or his stunt double.
>>214211565Based. Fuck Hollywood.
>>214211565What destroyed cinema is fanboys who became adults and took over the industry.
>>214214105Are you talking about Filoni? He's the one man keeping Star Wars relevant.
>>214214156I think Filoni is as close to George that we can get. Sure he does some stupid shit, but so did George. You can be right all the time about everything. Star Wars could be a lot worse now.
The winds of change blew through the dream factories of make-believe, tore at its crinoline tatters ... The hedonists, the homosexuals, the hemophiliac bleeding hearts, the God-haters, the quick-buck artists who substituted shock for talent, all cried: "Shake 'em! Rattle 'em! God is dead. Long live pleasure! Nudity? Yea! Wife-swapping? Yea! Liberate the world from prudery. Emancipate our films from morality!" ... Kill for thrill—shock! Shock! To hell with the good in man, Dredge up his evil—shock! Shock!- Frank Capra 1971
>>214214156Fuck off Filoni.
Did these prequels ever get better? I watched Phantom Menace and it was incredibly dry, no characterization or chemistry between characters. Should I bother watching the rest or is it more of the same?
>>214214950People generally consider AotC to be the best one. Largely due to Count Dooku's characterization. You should check it out.
>>214211565that would be the iron-man post credit scene
>>214212076Megalopolis
>>214211565so many kino fightsso much kino actionthis is a perfect film
>>214214328>1971He was already a has-been by that time, which gives this entire statement a distinct flavor. Not that I disagree entirely with what he was saying here, but would he have said the same if were still successful?
