The flying Leia, the Holdo manoeuvre, the terrible and misplaced attempts at comedy, the denigration of Luke Skywalker, the utter lack of logic, all contribute to it being one of the (top 20) worst films ever made. But even if every creative decision made about the universe, the characters and the story wasn't intentionally shitting on what previous films had established, it would still be an abysmal movie. The lighting for example is terrible (I noticed this in Knives Out too). All brown interiors and fake outdoor locales with dingy weather because CGI can't do ray tracing. The alien costumes are appalling, the casino scenes look somehow cheaper than Dr. Who. And the entire concept of a slow motion space chase is absolutely retarded. If it is even possible to make a tense action movie about a space ship chasing another space ship at exactly the same speed, the Rian Johnson is not the man to do it.
