Many people have claimed that R2 not being able to fly during the original trilogy is a huge plothole since R2 could fly during the prequels, but that is not the definition of a plothole. Furthermore, the inability of R2 not being able to fly during the original trilogy can be explained by the jawas removing the parts R2 used to fly.

>>214218606A Jedi's sense was never omniscience. He doesn't sense that Luke and Leia are his children because they themselves don't know, he senses only the usual thoughts from them. He "feels" Obi-wan's presence but even then it takes him a few minutes to figure out what it means. It would be like smelling somebody's perfume for the first time in 20 years, it can take a while to remember where you smelled it before. As for Return of the Jedi, Vader is actively trying to read Luke's mind and Luke is basically having an internal panic attack at the time, metaphorically screaming his thoughts. A sense is just that, a sense. It's not immediate irrefutable knowledge.
