>is an actually great guy
>gets the shit kicked out of him because he’s an obnoxious Asian stereotype
What was the lesson here?

Tony B legitimately didn't want to change his life for the better.

There was no lesson. Tony B was as human and flawed and fucked up as any of the other mob guys. Yeah he had good intentions, but in the end they amounted to little because when he got stressed and let his vices get the better of him he fell into that.

I seriously do not think his life would have fallen apart if that guy was like 25% less korean ESL. Most people go their whole lives without meeting someone of such a high caliber obnoxiousness
>>
>>214223084
It was also because the guy had been busting his balls the whole time when he first got out of prison. Tony B. was a gangster at heart and didn't want to tolerate that kind of disrespect from someone like Kim, and also didn't see him as an equal "partner", either.

Also, Tony B just straight up didn't want to follow through with a civilian lifestyle. He wanted action, and he was suicidally depressed. He hated that he went to jail and Tony didn't, and Tony became the boss even though he was beneath him before. Tony B feels like he's owed something, similar to Feech, Richie and Phil (the other characters who were released from prison).

This was a reoccuring issue in Sopranos - a character that is central to the plot is literally never onscreen ie Wes Caldwell

They were subhuman wops who all got what they deserved in the end. The real lesson of The Sopranos was to never let shitalians into your country in the first place.

I don't think that's really the case. Perhaps in the beginning but he probably moved on from that after 15 years. That's why he was surprised when Tony told him what really happened over the phone. He seemed touched that he felt guilty about it. I don't think he had any resentment towards Tony he just needed money and then it spiraled out of control and he accepted his fate.

I think he did, even subconsciously, which explains the "boy are you fat" comment, but I think he did forgive him when Tony told him what actually happened.
