They are paying him money for the surname, not for acting chops. It's like this since the 90s, when everyone realised he was serious when he keep saying that he's a bad actor and got lucky. But the surname is still a ticket draw, so here we are.
If you dislike the fact his new movies are shit, here is a clue: don't watch them. I don't and I'm happy with that. In fact, the last new thing I saw him in was Cowboys vs Aliens when it came out. And I saw that by accident, booking the wrong tickets.
