What are you working on, /tv/?
Chickens are dumb
>>214231184I finished up all my projects at the beginning of Summer
>>214231567How many?>>214231518What made you say this?
Here you go. The killer's a literature professor. He cuts off little chunks from his victims' bodies until they die. He calls himself "the deconstructionist".
>>214231184currently nothing worst writers block of my life. my manager told me to write something low budget but it's limiting as fuck. i have a mentor and her agent told me to write a pilot but i hate tv. currently on a half gram of coke wondering what i'm going to do with my life. i like my past two scripts and feel like they stood a chance without the fucking strike. what are you guys working on/are you happy with your work?
>>214231668Sounds like something you should write.>>214231685I'm editing an old work and working on a Christian Fantasy film. Hoping to get both of them in the shape to sell them. I have two other screenplays too, but I think those aren't too put together well. You have writer's block? Then just write down ideas. Until you see something you can write with ease.
>>214231184writing a screenplay for a short film or short series. Inspired by the World of Darkness, I tought of a little plot involving a monster and his minion.
>>214231806Let's gooooooo. Paiting, paiting. Are you going to try to get adaptation rights?
>>214231723i'm currently doing free association writing. it's late here tomorrow is going to be miserable. i'm trying to find my next project i feel like in the firstd half of my career i said what i wanted to say so i'm trying to figure out my new i don't know 'thesis' for lack of a better word? many years ago i did a period piece with a bonnie and clyde dynamic, if i made it a smidge more modern i bet that could pass for what i'm being asked. i need notes on it and my mentor is busy af though so i'm looking at two mid ideas i came up with in the last 18 months trying to decide where to go from there. i want to direct too which makes it harder. best of luck with you Christian Fantasy film, would like to see something like that. Just watched LOTR on a flight across country and miss that kind of genere
>>214231846Hm, I see your dilemma. Mine is more Urban Fantasy than Medieval fantasy like LOTR. I appreciate the well wishing though. I'll be around to help you -- in spirit. How's that?
>>214231835No more like inspiration, I'm a big fan of RPG I write stories IG, i'm doing this more as a hobby, I have a lot of friends who work in movies and make their own short film and series, I was thinking to work with them a story that I had in mind is just inspired by World of Darkness. To put it simple a story of a Vampire who lost interest in living, is lectured by his own ghoul, I mean a vampire who lost the will to live a modern "neet" I always liked lthe monster was the human all along or put human problems on monsters.
>>214231895Wow, that sounds fantastic af. That's different, no lie. We don't get much NEET kino, let this be one of those ones. Good luck.
>>214231887it's great i appreciate it. i'm normally about writing through the lack of inspiration but i was really deflated about a year and some change ago when every loved the current project but couldn't do anything with it. anyway keep the faith i'll get back on the horse again. thanks for reading my blog
>>214231184I have a spec script that placed as a semi finalist and quarterfinalist in a few major Hollywood screenplay contests. I did a light polish based on feedback but it reads 125 pages. Am I OK or is it too long?
>>214232112For querying?*
>>214232112I think it depends on who you're selling to, some people might overlook it because it's not that many pages over. Others will throw it away on principle. I haven't been in the Industry in this life (Yet) so I can't tell you which is which, but to be on the safe side, I will tell you that you should keep it 120 and under.
>>214232112hard to answer if it's really good as is, i think you *might* get away with 125, but from what i've heard most people want 100-110 drafts unless your a big dick in the industry. is there any fat you can cut or just cutting out descriptions? i had a 130 pager i turned into 104 just from trimming the fat
>>214232183It's fantasy and that's the trimmest I can get it. 120 to 125. I scored 7s on the blacklist.
>>214232244ok i say then take a chance. but i would re read before you do. for instance on the 130 pager i did things like write full page descriptions of rooms and extras. i felt like it added to the tone but hard to argue with results, it got read more. it was a drama so i knew i was allowed to go to 120 but even 130 was a huge red flag i heard. anyway best of luck
Im working on a story called NEON BLADES
>>214232299I remember that screenplay. It's about Ninjas, right?
>>214232313Yes they need to do it for master
>>214232473Is it a joke screenplay or serious?
>>214232488I don't know nigger i'm just memeing about it since i read it here a while back.
>>214232605That screenplay was being written over 8 years ago...They're still posting it?
>>214231685Horror, lots of options for low budget
>>214232637i don't like horror but you're right i should just swallow my pride and do it. i had an idea for a unabomber analgoy script that would have horror/sci fi vibes to it, which is different from everything i've ever done
>>214231184Its a thriller/horror called:>LickIts about a person that sneaks into peoples houses at night and licks their faces intensely while they sleep. The first thing they know about it is when they wake up, try to look inthe bathroom mirror but can't because their eyes have been completely licked away, like gob-stoppers.The police can't catch the Licker, who the press nickname Jack The Licker, because there are no eyewitness, as they have had their eyes licked out. So they enlist the services of a sassy female Asian American detective from the mean streets of New York city who has been blind from birth, and therefore has advanced development of her other senses to compensate, in order to catch "Jack The Licker".PLOT TWIST: Turns out Jack is a lady and the blind detective must subdue her by offering her body to lick in a graphic love scene that forms part of the films final act.Opinions?
>>214232855That sounds like a comedy. I wouldn't know what to do with it, but it's cool.
>>214231184a drunk/druggy line cook is haunted by the ghost of a little girl. the ghost is from an abortion, the cook was told it was a miscarriage. maybe its a delusion, he wanted the kid and has been celebrating the 'birthday' for years, the ghost gets older. i'm stuck cause the happy ending is the cook dying & the alternative is vengeful ghost that kills his ex, but then the cook gets prison.
>>214231184I just tell the AI a plotline and it does the work, doesn't require much tweaking. Average about 4 episodes a week with a movie script on the side.
>>214232935>That sounds like a comedy.I was aiming for something like Se7en meets Silence of the Lambs. Oh well. Thinking I should delete the file now and write something else.
>>214233093bro don't delete a file based off a 4chan comment
>>214231184My dad was a racecar driver / owned his own racing company and always forced me to come with him to the track even though there were no other kids and you weren’t allowed to go in the pit under the age of 16 (until I became 16 and they canned that rule lel) so i was stuck at the truck for 10+ hours a day on weekends bored out of my mind. I do have stories to tell from shit I saw and I was thinking of throwing that into a screenplay + add a lot of fiction in there like how the racing was actually a cover up for weapons dealing or some other illegal shit (so basically sons of anarchy but with race cars) but I 1) suck at writing and 2) lack dedication and commitment and 3) i fucking hate my father and would not want to spend hours thinking about my horrible childhood.I still think about barging into a room with one of our drivers fucking a local celebrity when i was 12 though. Haha
>>214233190sounds like a good idea, i can fuck with it if you don't want to write it but i don't steal so no worries
How do you even get an agent? I have a script written but nobody to send it to. Do I just query agents on imbd?
>>214233296yes, start with small company managers though. how many scripts do you have?
>>214233461Just 1. Is it better to have multiple?
>>214233496it's probably good to have more than 1 because if they don't like the premise you can say >i've got another one it's such and suchalso an important thing is to keep the query brief but amiable and have a good log line
>>214233252Haha yeah no worries random internet stranger you wont steal ideas.
>>214232935Can I ask what about it makes you think it was a comedy?I know Awkwafina is the obvious casting for the detective, as that's who she was inspired by when I was writing it, but she has played serious roles too.
>>214233190a racetrack could be a money laundering front for a drug dealing or weapons smuggling ring, or something. i don't think that idea has been done before. it could even be a crappy redneck racetrack that does figure 8s and shit but they have to expand because the criminal enterprise needs a place to dump cashas a TV show it would do good with the sons of anarchy market. people never get tired of cars guns and titties
