Was it really that bad?
>>
>>214243656
No. It was worse
>>
>>214243656
No one shares Ridley's obsession with poetry spouting androids angry at their dads. People wanted to see the mystery of the engineers get some answers. And he never fulfilled in any way for two movies. So yeah, it deserves to be shit on

Well I do. I also miss Raised by Wolves. When Ridley finally dies this world will become even more boring, it will be the end of weird grandiose sci-fi, we will be left with shit like Nolan and Villeneuve.

Did David use her body as a natural womb for dozens/hundreds of Aliens but performed a C-Section every time so she wouldn't die via the usual chest bursting wound?
>>
>>214243830
Scott did talk about wanting to do a 3rd film and it's in active development. So, agains all odds, we might actually see it.
>>
>>214244808
Yeah right after Gladiator 3, Napoleon 2, Black Rain 2, The Duellists 2, The Last Duel 2 and 1493.
>>
>>214243656
The real giveaway is they cast 2/3rd of the faggots from pineapple express to be in an Alien movie. Also, all the other casting was just fucking weird, including Waterson.

They had a chance to do something amazing after prometheus, then they shit the bed. And you know the real reason? They did not want to pay Rapace to be in the sequel. Fucking greedy execs.
>>
It's an 8/10 compared to 2020s slop. I bet that Alien Earth shit is garbage compared to it and Prometheus too. Not a great film otherwise though.
David and Walter scenes were good.
>>
>>214244892

Noomi is a C-lister at best, Fassbenders entourage of trainer/personal chef etc would cost the studio more than her paycheque.
>>
>>214244947

Nah it's still incoherent slop with a stock script (both Prometheus and Convenant).

Ridley should've focused on a story revolving purely around David and not tied it into the Alien franchise at all. Instead we got shit answers and shit plots that nobody asked for.
>>
it's better than man of steel.
>>
>>214244343
David didn't "invent" xenos lol.
>>

>When Ridley finally dies this world will become even more boring, it will be the end of weird grandiose sci-fi, we will be left with shit like Nolan and Villeneuve.
Yep. Noland and Villenuhack combined couldn't do anything as good as Ridley has in 20 years. They literally haven't.
>>
>>214244995
all the pre-David xenos were organic like the deacon. David made them biomechanical since he's an android and he was adding his own design into them.

That's fair, but Prometheus especially looks a feels fantastic, regardless of the story and character problems. Does 2020s slop at least look and feel as good as Ridleyslop? Big "NO."
Agreed on your second point too.
Give Ridley a good script, and you have Real Kino. Have people writing shit like Napoleon and Gladiator II (lulzy that they even made a G II), and you get good-looking slop.

It was a very strange decision to put Franco in but have his role in a youtube extra and a short flashback video. As it was, he was so unimportant and unmemorable, I had no fucking clue what Daniels was talking about when she figured out Walter was actually David at the end until rewarching it. None of the characters resonated like Alien characters usually do
>>
>>214246852
That's a you looking at your phone instead of the movie problem. She talks with walter about building a cabin about 20 minutes into the movie. It was very easy to follow. You just weren't paying attention.

We are far over 1500 Alien threads and still retard faggots don't understand and keep debating the same things asking the same questions

You have to watch the Alien movies in Chronological order to fully understand

The Engineer ship that they found in Alien (1979) on a moon of a planet has nothing to do with David and David had not been to that moon. The aliens there were constructed by the Engineers to be used as a weapon
The Engineers used the black goo as a biological weapon to create weapon grade beasts for purposse unknown

>>
Xenos already existed. The engineers used them to make black goo and use it as a weapon.
David works backwards to recreate the xeno from black goo.
Aliens were hunted by predators so they always existed.

It's ridiculous that engineers created life on earth 2,000,000,000,000 years ago then want to wipe it out when Jesus is killed because Scott said Jesus was an engineer.

Some people are disappointed because the story of the Engineers was far too interesting and they wanted to learn more about it

Others whent in expecting to see a brainless Alien movie but they got a complex story based movie amd that far too much for their fragile brains too handle so they hate it

There should deff another movie focussing more about the Engineers and it would also be a great to see a continueing story about David

In short it's supposed to be the last prequel titled Awakening that ties the previous two to Alien (1979), and answers who the Space Jockey is, which means there's a chance it's not an Engineer, and where the eggs came from. David would end up on LV-426 and along with the Engineers who are pissed at him for what he did to their planet and a third unspecified party, possibly Weyland-Yutani. If you want unhinged look up the David is the Space Jockey theory.
>>
>>214247990
David was meant to be less idiosyncratic than he turned out to be. Walter says he himself was designed to be less autonomous in Covenant. There's enough info to say David was "off track" from what he was designed to do or malfunctioned.
>>
>>214243656
It was the Quantum of Solace of Alien/Prometheus. It needed its own Skyfall to correct itself, though preferably 2 sequels. The problem is that Ridley is one of those idiots who doesn't understand the Alien timeline, as are the writers for Prometheus and Covenant. You can sort of twist the prequels into fitting with the timeline of the original movies, but only because the prequel series got cancelled before Scott could wrap up all the plot threads he set up that were going to retcon craploads of stuff.
>>
it was good
alien has retarded fans that want the same movie over and over
>>
>>214252989

Ridley clearly meant for David to be the progenitor of the xenos (in their current biomechanical form) and has retconed the lore accordingly.
Autists online fuming at it doesn't change that at all.
There was also a clear design choice that separates pre-David xenos (smooth, more fleshy) and the ones after he tinkers with them (biomechanical).
It's all right there in the movies.

>>214243656
I feel like the gore and deaths in this movie are over the top dark and mean-spirited. It has such a malicious and cruel vibe to it that the rest of the franchise doesn't. I realize this is a strange criticism for a horror franchise that has always been violent, but I don't know how else to explain it. It seems out of place and like it was made to be gore porn above all else. I hate the direction it took David and Shaw after Prometheus and the way it basically makes David a slasher movie villain.
>>
The big mistake was thinking there needed to be a prequel trilogy. The original concept for Prometheus was fine and still left the possibility open for another prequel movie while laying the solid foundation for the first film.

But noooooo, it has to be a trilogy like star wars.

Yeah I guess it's been established a long time ago that androids are indistinguishable from humans, in some of the movies it's implied that everyone aboard a specific vessel is informed that an android is aboard, but they seem to break this rule from time to time when it's convenient to the plot.

I don't think it was a fuck you exactly. He was just bored to death of xenomorphs and wanted to do something different with them. That and falling in love with David, as you said. There is a disconnect between the people who make media and the people who consume it. The former tend to be theater types and are mainly concerned with characters. They see everything else as set dressing that can and should be discarded the instant it gets in the way of character interactions or character arcs. The people who consume media tend to enjoy it more holistically, valuing the lore and such just as much as they do the characters and getting annoyed when they get attached to a continuity only for the next installment to throw half of it in the trash.

Earlier concepts for the sequel had it where Noomi was actually going to be alive for it, or at least for part of it, living among Engineers, or whatever that subrace of Engies were. But then Engineers would start mutating, and basically all-in-all the sequel would have been more monster-packed that Prometheus was. All kinds of monster mutations. Prometheus on steroids. That would have been nice. It really hurt the movie that Noomi wasn't part of it. Then Ridley marred it even more by turning the last act into an abbreviated version of Alien's last act, due to studio pressure or mandate.

>>
>>214243656
Yes. Also >>214243695.

I'm convinced that the only reason it was made was Riddle got wind that Neill Blomkamp was barking up the Alien tree and his ego couldn't handle it so he made it to kill the project. Not that Blomkamp's would have been good mind you. Killing a main character off screen in-between movies is one of the biggest cardinal sins a sequel can make.

>>214264864
It demonatrated Ridley's utter contempt for all things 'Alien'. He doesn't care about the xenomorph or anything about it any more. He had the facehugger get on a guy for 1 minute, be ripped off and never make the guy unconscious. Still implanted somehow and births 20 minutes later, then grows to full size 5 minutes after that. Then immediately starts killing the crew and is blown out into space 10 minutes after that. Bravo Ridley. What a doofus.
>>
>>214243656
The movie literally pauses the plot to make you watch a BLACKED RAW shower scene with Juicy Smolett. I mean the characters escape certain death and the next scene that immediately follows is them casually going to take a shower. Anyone who likes or defends Ridleyslop has to cope with this scene existing and them willingly sitting through it.
>>
>>214266165
Ridley loves his Blacked scenes. It's why Idris Elba was in Prometheus

>It demonatrated Ridley's utter contempt for all things 'Alien'. He doesn't care about the xenomorph or anything about it any more. He had the facehugger get on a guy for 1 minute, be ripped off and never make the guy unconscious.
I think this is more a fault of the screenwriters, but yeah Ridley didn't care that much. he more so wanted to make a big, good looking space horror, and maybe the studio/screenwriters were intent on jamming xeno/facehugger stuff in haphazardly regardless of whether it fits in the story or with the themes, the "bigger ideas" Ridley wanted to direct.
>>
>>214252989
The Alien timeline is just generally breaking down as we get further and further into the real life future. Back in 1979 when Alien first came out, the year 2122 was 163 years away. That’s far enough away that you really don’t have to think much about what happens between now and then, it’s just “the future”. Also 1979 was only about six years after the Apollo program ended so there was still reason to believe commercial space flight was going to be a thing pretty soon. Now, 2120 is only 95 years away and we still haven’t gone back to the moon. So everything in the Alien canon has to get awkwardly crammed into the thirty years or so between 2090 and 2120.
>>
>>214243656

People hate Prometheus and Covenant for one reason and only one reason - they depict a natural history which precludes (and rather sneers at the concept of) a Creator/Father/God which loves His special creation Man.

The thing that makes no sense is that when the humans arive at the planet in Alien Covenant they find the space ship of David beeing crashed through the forrest

While David tells the story how he arrived perfectly and dropped the black goo on the population

David did not crash onto the planet so who's ship was that and why did it crash

Might be a error from the writers and director because it makes no sense

Also why did David remain on that planet since his ship was not damaged when he arrived there

He could have gone elsewhere or look for other ships in the erea since there was a docking station

Because Engineers created life on Earth, and then visited a few times to check in on us and see what we were up to.
Once humans were semi intelligent, the engineer visits Earth, and left coordinates to primitive man in the form of cave paintings where they were from. Then, around 2000 years ago, a visiting engineer was killed by humans and they decided we were unruly and to put us down.
They were testing to see if they could create intelligent life. Humans failed the test. Ergo, wipe us clean and start over.

How about you reply to the question if you are so smart?
Giving coordinates to your creation for some military research base makes far less sense than giving them coordinates for your homeworld or some other planet that your species is using to live.
Why the fuck would they tell humans to join them somewhere dangerous that they can't even be certain will still be manned and under control by the time humanity is sufficiently advanced to reach it? Doing so while still having a friendly relationship with them is nonsensical.

Not exactly that, but their believes changed from hopeful to nihilistic. In the lore pieces I read somewhere (I think it was a prologue they cut) it's said they found the Gold Goo and used to seed life. This resource ended and they couldn't find more so they created the Black Goo but that only made monsters (aka the xeno). Now I don't remember the order of things after that but at some point their dogmas shifted and they started worship the xenos as the perfect lifeform and went into some sort of holy war against all other forms of life, using the Black Goo to kill everything they previously created. One ship was sent to Earth but it crashed in that planet they found in Prometheus. Why they left a map for that planet? Probably a plot hole after they rewrote the script a thousand times, who knows.

I'll bite.
LV-223 was the engineer base of operations, dipshit.
LV-426 had nothing on it, zoomzoom faggot.
Why the fuck would the Engineers leave coordinates to LV-426?
After humanity proved to be too shitty by killing the Jesus Engineer figure 2000 years ago and was deemed a failed experiment, the Engineers packed up to leave LV-223.
They sent one ship towards Earth to wipe humanity out with eggs, and it ended up crashing on LV-426 because the pilot was infected.
There was one Engineer left in stasis on LV-223. The rest were killed or escaped to Planet 4 or somewhere else.
It's probable that the Engineer in stasis was not even awake during the fuckups that led to LV-223 station being overran and evacuated to begin with 2000 years ago.
Do you even follow the movies?

That's actually kinda cool but it should be fleshed out way more, which they obviously gave up on since it's from a deleted scene.
Also probably isn't even reliable anymore since in the actual prologue we see one of them drink black goo to create life through his death.
Wasted potential as usual

Yeah, when that shit happened you could hear the chuckles in the theater.

Not that anon, but this isn't in the theatrical cut, right? I don't remember this bit at all.

They don't do that though. Only in one shitty non-canon movie and fan fiction meant to sell toys to children

Except the star map left by the Engineers led to LV-223 so I have no idea what the fuck you are talking about
>Why the fuck would the Engineers leave coordinates to LV-426?
I never claimed this to be the case.
My question is why would you give a map to a military factory filled with dangerous bioweapons to a specie you are on good terms with, you retarded fucking weed-addict brainrotten ape. They wanted to kill humanity 2000 years ago but the cavemen painting are far, far older than that. The cavemen painting were left as a friendly invitation to a lesser lifeform to eventually come and join them. So why give them a map to some death factory and not, I dunno, the apple orchard?
If you want to leave a hint to your child to come find you when he's (barely) old enough, do you give him the key to the chemical lab filled with poisons or to somewhere far less dangerous like the living room?

Take your own fucking reading comprehension advice.
And also learn to think outside the box you fucking drone

nta but the simple answer is that he script was rewritten a thousand times. If you want to fix that, you can say they wanted humanity to find one of their outposts, when they still believed that one day we would evolve enough to find our creators. But once they thought there was no salvation they just prepared to wipe us out and stored the bioweapons in the nearest outpost thinking we, being a bunch of violent apes, would never be capable of understanding the maps and then build spaceships to arrive on the planet.

I dunno what’s going anymore with the alien chronology

Eh, if we go that route then something like them changing their mind, wanting to wipe humans out and purposefully storing the goo on that outpost while KNOWING there is a map to it which may lead us to it, makes more sense.
But it's still retarded because that leaves open the possibility of the race of violent apes finding the goo and harnessing it to wipe other civilizations.
Doesn't really make sense to leave the goo there for that purpose either since they had no way of knowing that the ship sent to earth would crash.
