Deaths in this movie are so kino.

I still remember my dad loudly saying What The Fuck when Big explodes kek. That and the jumpscare at the end spooked me as a kiddo

I used to not like James bond , but thats because Ive only seen Die another day and after. The older movies are better , this one is great , one of the best Bond Girls too...
>>

He certainly has an inflated opinion of himself.

A used to laugh like Samedi when I would oogle and suck on my ex's boobs.

Yes, A few times when I have acted like hot shit right before I ate shit and also laughing like a lunatic in a smug amusing manner (mostly in the car when I hear something funny).

I will admit that Live And Let Die is kino but I will NEVER forgive them for this.

Technically Baron Samedi doesn't die. Also I'm pretty sure he's the only James Bond henchman to ever live.

Doesn't Jaws get to live happily ever after with his cute gf? And didn't Nick Nack just get packed into a suitcase?
>>
>>214258380
He's left in a cage in the crow's nest at the end of Man With the Golden Gun, presumably handed over to the authorities and jailed. So that's three, at least.

Heavily agreed. Women from back in this era don't look good for a variety of reasons, but Seymour in this movie is insanely hot.
>>
>>214255419
Dalton flicks were maligned for being too gritty and too modern, but really they were perfect products for their time and Dalton was a fine Bond. After Goldeneye all Bond films lost their soul and became goofy corporate products full of strong women.
>>
>>214260588
Bond's final payback of lighting the villain on fire (with Felix's lighter) is fairly ruthless.
>>
>>214259979
this was a very out of place sequence for For Your Eyes Only, which was otherwise a pretty down to earth entry with few outlandish elements
>>
>>214252072
One time I hung around in an Egyptian temple and laughed at some fool that came in waving a gaudy pen and lighter, then he left and I laughed some more.
>>
>>214261023
Both Dalton movies are just too stock. They come off as contractual obligations and just presented as genre yarns. Bond for better or worse should be more about spectacle and Brosnan movies were a return to that form.
Dalton was alright as Bond, but just merely alright.
>>
>>214261023
Dalton was supposed to get a third Bond film, people assume because he didn't that it must have been backlash that stopped it, but really he got unlucky and caught up in yet more rights issues that cropped up, as per usual for the Bond franchise, that delayed the next film for several years, and by the time it was cleared up and ready to go, the Cold War had ended and we were well into the 90s, so it was decided to go with a new Bond and new fresh take for the post Cold War era, and Brosnan had previously been sought after for the role but was tied up with the Remington Steele show at that time, so they went back to him.
>>
>>214261151
I don't agree in the slightest.
Living Daylights is classic Bond, with a suave, cool Bond, a great Bond girl and a fun vibe with your stunts and gadgets, benefitting greatly from the younger Dalton after the increasingly wrinkly Moore, and License to Kill was a cool alternate take on Bond with a more violent gritty tone that got to show a more menacing Bond and more ruthless villains. I think for a guy that only made two films, he left a big mark, in two very different takes.

GoldenEye is great, but it's also the only great one Brosnan was in. Tomorrow Never Dies and World is Not Enough are solid, with really good action, but not spectacular entries, Die Another Day just flat out stinks, my least favorite after A View to a Kill
>>
>>214261233
I never understood the glazing Dalton movies get. Is it because they are considered underdogs?
The scripts are trite stock shite. Going against some random drug lords and some (n+1)th iteration of soviet spy shit was so low energy it might as well have been a set of tv movies.
If you sit down and extrapolate what Bond movies are at their core these two have those elements the least.

Bond may have always had elements of the fantastical in them but post Goldeneye Brosnan movies were cartoons and went too far in the goofball direction and lost all sense of style and coolness, and the post Brosnan films are not James Bond movies at all, just corporate fanfiction that never stepped away from being cartoon Jason Bourne clones filmed by pretentious fart sniffers who genuinely thought they were too classy for the material and far more clever than they actually are.

blacks take voodoo seriously and kill people to eat them and get their powers or favor from demons, besides your usual sacrifices. that being said I think baron samedi is a good depiction of a powerful african sorcerer, although I dont believe any redpills about black culture was given in that movie.

The Moore era was so goofy lmao. Reminder these are his "peak" movies.

License to Kill took some stuff from the Live and Let Die novel so it is kind of fitting that both movies have great villain deaths. And the same Felix, even though that was a weird choice.

>Sanchez's scientists dissolve cocaine in petrol and sell it disguised as fuel to Asian drug dealers.
Is this a good plan? Couldn't you like sell the cocaine or something?
>>
>>214269466
that's what they're doing? you still need to export the cocaine, by dissolving it in petrol they can hide it for international transport. in real life that wouldn't work, because gasoline is only used to extract alkaloids from the coca leaves, which are then dried and processed... mixing the powder back into gasoline would just waste it.. but if we pretend in universe the chemistry works its fine
>>
>>214256951
He keeps the locals at bay and in line by acting as a Voodoo priest / mystical figure. He's also a spiritual advisor to Kananga. He's unique as a henchmen because he's not directly involved with dealing with Bond until the very end, and he clearly was more focused on staying alive rather than killing Bond outright.
