Does it hold up all the way through?
You have to really, really love the characters to keep watching after s4
>>214265707First season was kinda weak. It's one of these rare shows that actually gets better with each season.Sex with Dr My Wife btw
>>214265751>Sex with Dr My Wife btwt.
>>214265707College era Dean is such a wet blanket of a character. The show is joyless with him.
>>214265784Yeah it sucks, I really wish he got with whats her face. I really wanted to see that wish fulfilled.
>>214265784>why isn't hank being haunted?>*mouthful of bacon* cause i'm a good person
Did you like it, /tv/?
>>214265707No. First couple seasons are amazingly clever, and it was perhaps the best quality show on Adult Swim at that time, but eventually it becomes mediocre. Later seasons lean too heavily on comic/capeshit references. Cast of supporting characters becomes too large. Show gets worse for me when Sgt. Hatred and the Alchemist more and more frequently.>>214265729Very fair statement.
They really fucked over Brock in the later seasons. In the first 4 seasons or so he's part of the family and a major character in the show, but after Operation PROM he just doesn't do that much. Even in the NYC seasons when they're living together he doesn't get much to do, and he's barely in the movie at all. WTF.
>>214265773They're villains, they swing
>>214265812I'm glad it happened but it was sad to see all these plot points getting rushed.
>>214265707Season 1 - GoodSeason 2 - KINOSeason 3 - AmazingSeason 4A - shitSeason 4B - GoodSeason 5 - okaySeason 6 - GoodSeason 7 - okayMovie - Great
>>214265812better then nothing but it should have been a whole season
>>214265812I didn't hate it or even dislike it but I can't commit further than that.
>>214265812It was fun but it felt like they were rushing through a season's worth of plot points since they knew this was all they were gonna get. Then again, the NY seasons already felt like they lacked much momentum, so maybe it's better they did it this way instead of doling it out over 4 hours of television
>>214265707Yes. Even at its worst its full of soul.
>>214265707When they actually start to try to do arcs and linking things together it somehow becomes even more aimless compared to what it was like when they were just completely making it up as they went along and not really bothering about overarching plots.
>>214265914Because his voice actor got too successful and expensive and they could barely afford to give him a few lines a season. The show tanked for me when Brock left but I get why.
I loved the daughter and her goth friend of the sorcerer.
>>214265729It's more that they stopped writing to bring in new fans, but they stopped doing that around the second season. It's only made for people who like Venture Bros now, and that's why it's good. Any other show would have tried to go for a wider audience, and it would have had a few more seasons and then been over, they'd have been diluted before they made a core audience at all. Venture Bros got re-ordered for 20 years because the core audience always shows up.
>>214265707I liked it when I watched it, but I’d be lying if I told you I have a perfect or even good recollection of its myriad plots and characters. And it’s a lot of time to invest in rewatching. Could I tell you who minor side character #82 was? No. Could I tell you the overarching plot of season 4? Also no.I might give the movie a watch at some point though.
>>214268783You say that, but later seasons focusing more on capeshit says otherwise.Mind you, I still love the show overall, but this change of focus from superscientists to superheroes was kind of a bummer to me. It could also be me misremembering shit, it's been a while since I've watched it.
>>214265707Yes.https://www.adultswim.com/streams/the-venture-bros
>>214268990Nah they did slip over to more superhero stuff. I think that was mostly because the media was going that way, but also the creators were fans of it as well and felt like they'd done the superscience stuff already in earlier seasons. I think the idea was to show that the superscience focus of Jonas Venture's day was shifting over to a modern superhero focus, and they also showed that earlier eras were more pulp action. The underlying thing of it is that it's about the creative arts, the creators experience of knowing various artists and actors and musicians, how they work together, how they screw each other over or help each other out. The 'superscience' era was like the 'superstar' era in Hollywood and the western media, so you had people like 'Jonas Venture' working on 'superscience' under his government name. Then nowadays they're going all in on the characters being more important in the MCU, so it's 'superheroes' who are mainly known by their persona, and even rules are in place to keep their identities secret. And then the 'pulp action' era involved mostly people who got famous in more local markets, and some of them would be called up to the big time. Obviously a lot of overlap between all of these things.
>>214265812Uhhmm, mayyybe.
>>214265812Not really, I think it was a genuinely bad attempt at giving the series closure
>>214268740>>214265797I'm not autistic enough to remember the specifics, but Triana's voice actor was one of the creator's wife/girlfriend and she got cut when they broke up.
has tf2 comics vibes desuSometimes too much talk and it's not in a good wayThe manchild capeshit vibe is too strongI didn't watch it doeThe mission hill on the other hand is kinda nice, i thought they have the same author(s) but actually no.
