im almost finished maraphoning this show its so impressed me best show of all time

my deer friends can you recomend more sofisticated shows like hannibal
>>
>>214269811
Is it true that the show is gay (or implies gayness)? Or is it just faggots trying to make it gay?
>>
>>214269877
He 100% ate a penis atleast once.
>>
>>214269877
Faggot showrunner tried to make it gay but was stopped by the rest of the producers and the show's cancellation. At least that's what he claims.
>>
>>214269877
The third season totally fucks itself by going way over the top with the yaoi bullshit. Will and Hannibal sucking and fucking each other would have been less gay.
>>
Why it was cancelled?
>>
>>214269877
The main point of the show is that Hannibal is the sophisticated European serial killer cannibal who recognizes in the geniusly empathetic protagonist, Will Graham, a way to understand himself and even learn people-to-people relations via him and Abigail. Will is FBI and definitely not a cannibal, so he takes offense at this effort even though he does ultimately come around to being Hannibals mirror and more importantly friend.

WOMEN see this as Hannibal and Will being gay lovers needing to fuck each other poopholes every night. Once Hannibal is revealed the entire plot is just about understanding and reconciling with each other in the stated manner. This entire slow process is beautifully depicted in the show by having every FBI murder case be directly relevant in symbolism or allegory to the relationship between the two; combined with classy taste and pretentiousness the show is 10/10.

I only wish some characters had died sooner, or stayed dead. Its definitely not a gay show in any way unless you are a woman or closeted fag. Hannibal is not a normal individual kek
And any sex scenes is straight of course
>>
>>214270029
It was a different time. You couldn't have a massively expensive show that no one watched back then.
>>
>>214270029
You really only can catch the protagonist two times before it becomes ridiculous. The show had completely finished its plot by season 3. A sequel with other characters could have been possible perhaps.

Not really though there is some borderline homolust on occassion. But it's not really that Hannibal is gay, he just has a deranged all-encompassing obsession with a male profiler. Who does not reciprocate that for most of the show, by the way. But fujos will fujo.

I don't care if it makes me a bit faggot-like, I love this show and the entire "Dark Academia" genre that Tumblrwhales and Twittertards run into the ground.
>>
Ive only seen the "made in God's image" scene and it made cringe so hard I'll never watch it.

God do I fucking feel that. The magic realism food segments in Hannibal were the purest kino. We'll never get a show that good again.
>>
>>214269877
It's women making it extremely gay and the showrunners appeasing them with a very ambiguous ending.

To be fair the showrunner is also extremely gay so it wasn't just the women. I liked the ending though, it made sense if you watched the show and pissed off people who didn't get it. Ballsy move to do on a network like that.
>>
>>214270827
I'm against making every male friendship gay but Hannibal genuinely has some incredibly homo moments that would be a sappy romance were the genders reversed. So I can't even blame fujos for latching onto Hannibal, it's woman-coded.
>>
>>214269963
Yeah I dunno how they did it but Hannibal fucking Will up the ass for 40 minutes an episode would have been less gay than what we got
>>
>>214269811
It was a bit repetitive by the abrupt end

Desu, there isn't anything that is like Hannibal, not really. In television at least. And even film is lacking to an extent. Ripley comes closest to the idea, but it doesn't have that Gothic otherworldliness. I don't understand how people hate S3, the overt extravagance and purple prose add to the story, they don't take away. It's like anything that indulges or explores a genre is immediately reject by the public at large, and it's how we've come to see the majority of all media have a similar tone that never delves into anything.

The only show I think captures a little bit of the Gothic and aesthetical atmosphere is the new Interview With The Vampire. But it's very gay and now that it's in the modern era I think it'll lose its touch a bit. I miss the 00s...
>>214270931
NTA, but I personally see it as more Homoaesthetic than genuinely gay. I don't see Hannibal and Will legitimately fucking each other. Can anyone really imagine Hannibal naked and barebacking Will? It's almost like those marriages between a gay and a woman where they live like a couple but don't actually fuck.
>>
>>214271205
I watched Ripley but it didn't work for me, the pooner was also atrocious. I guess the closest thing to Hannibal's atmosphere I've seen recently was Penny Dreadful, but that's much more of a straight up monster show.

Yeah, I agree, I really enjoyed season 3 and how pushed father into a feeling of otherworldlness. The background music or I guess increasingly odd sounding soundscapes were great too. Honestly, I think if the show came out now on streaming it would have done better, but season 3 was definitely too much for people on a normal network schedule.

Yeah I always interpreted the expression of Will and Hannibal's sexual relationship as them hunting and killing together, rather than actually having sex. Killing and eating people seems to do more for Hannibal than real sex, which he just uses to manipulate people.

I enjoyed it myself. I "binged" it in 2 days or so. It had some odd things like the tranny, and nobody being beautiful enough, but I was sucked in by the atmosphere.
>I guess the closest thing to Hannibal's atmosphere I've seen recently was Penny Dreadful, but that's much more of a straight up monster show.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I watched it ages ago.

Exactly. It was honestly ahead of its time in a sense. Fuller is making his first movie, with Mads starring, so maybe it will lead to that fabled 4th season. Hannibal and Will as older men with some young cute redhead as Clarice would be kino.

That's how I saw it too. I can't imagine these two fucking no matter how faggy their interactions became. They were too much like genuine Platonic Friends in every sense of the word, to the point where sexuality would ruin what they had.
>>
>>214271453

I did not know that and it pleases me greatly. Here's hoping that it does well.

Omg there are actually women who post on /tv/ and spread their stupid shit. Baffling. You know you could go out right now on a thursday evening and absolutely get a guy to fuck you instead of wasting your time shilling this?

this show has nice visuals, at least through S2. If cool visuals and Mads are enough for you then good. The other characters are weak and stupid, some profoundly stupid.

Millennium was far better because the detective wasn't a mincing crybaby faggotron. The premise is similar.

If you want a similar show but with a "monster of the week" format, try the other show.
>>
>>214271749
Mads and that sexy psychologist bitch were always the only reasons to watch

Strong disagree, the only one who was really dumb at times was Jack, who should know better. When even Chilton is on to Hannibal before you you're kinda retarded. Chilton was fucking great, all the time. Like an angry uppity little dog.

It's not homoerotic. It's not really even homoromantic. It's *intimate.* A deep platonic connection. The fact that so many people are unable to grasp that, have never had and are unable to even conceive of such friendship, is fucking sad.
>>
>>214270137
I love the show and hate shipping as a concept, but some of the scenes are really, really, really gay (emotionally), e.g. >>214270230. I totally understand why for female fans the line is either blurry or non-existent, you don't normally hear shit like
>I don't know where I end and you begin
>I've been staring at afterimages of you so long
etc. outside of a romance story
>>
>>214272208
Look at this shit and tell me it's platonic. >>214270230
>>
>>214272342

>>214269877
S3 is quite gay.
>>
>>214269877
the showrunner was trying to push the boundaries of what can be shown on broadcast. he didn't know the boundaries of what can be shown on broadcast are established via a complaint system. so every time he pushed a boundary it pushed back, and by season three the only thing he could show was implied homolust
>>
>>214271872
Imagine calling Gillian Anderson a "sexy psychologist bitch". Are zoomers not familiar with The X-Files?
>>
>>214269877
The series' makers smelled the farts of the fanbase a bit too much and were teasing them with a 'gay ship' at the time. Ultimately not gay, but plenty enough to be gay coded.
