im only 30 minutes into ep1 but its pretty cool. its got something modern shows dont. some kind of soul or something. actors in the past interacted with each other on a deeper level than shows today.
i think these graphics look pretty real for 1979
>>214282851It wasn't as good as the original Battlestar Galactica imo but it's a nice comfy show. I hope you like it. They retooled it in the second season.
>>214282851I believe in the CBS future.
>>214282851Yeah it wasn't very sophisticated but had a certain earnestness. S1 is great fun. S2 has a few good eps but I didn't like the changes they made. Still, I will be forever grateful for S1 (pic).
just stop after season 1
>>214283338>They retooled it in the second season. For the worse, imo. Hawk was an interesting character but all the other changes took away most of what I liked about the first season (Erin Gray's role and especially her costumes in particular).
>>214284983
>>214285106LOL, nothing surreptitious or stealthy about my enjoyment of Erin Gray's attractiveness. Crazy that she was a character on what amounted to a kid's show with that costuming.
>>214284955>just stop after season 1>Off-Think>Off-Think>Off-Think>Off-ThinkNo! Season 2 has its moments.
bidi bidi bidi
>>214286549I'm no expert but I thought the ship designs on the show were pretty cool.
>>214282851pamela hensley aka princess ardala has a screen presence second only to marylin monroe. she's chewing up every scene she's in
>>214282851I hope you saw the movie first. It's a lot of fun
Great show, love it, even the shit episodes
>>214287108I wish she was in more episodes. Such a fun character, straight out of a cartoon. Her tummy game was top tier.
>>214287186Totally agree, though I still want to punch Gary Coleman in his smug face in his eps.
>>214286504is that the midget from twin peaks?
>>214287509I normally root for the good girls in a TV show but in this instance, she's just irresistable.
>>214286207SEXOOOOOO
>>214286207not crazy at all after Emma Peel in The Avengers 10+ years early. the 70s were a very sexualized era
I remember wanking over all the women in miniskirts watching this as a kid
>>214289975Buck Rodgers, formerly Sneed
>>214283120The guys who did the matte paintings in this era were masters, also these things were huge, like the size of a wall, so the details could be done real small.
>>214286207The one where the space vampire enslaves her is hot af.
>>214290929It was. Also her crop top catsuit was not bad either lol.
>>214290671It would be worth killing a billion jeets to bring these guys back
>>214289172Ardala was super fun. Also a good foil for Col. Dearing's goody two shoes character.
>>214283338how does Space 1999 compare to those?
>>214293427It's more serious. Some good scary episodes.
>>214293038the duality of woman
>>214293038Why aren't women this beautiful anymore? Why the fuck did boomer men allow muh feminism to be normalised when THIS was what they were throwing away.
>>214294846You'll eat your Zendaya and Pugh and like it.
>>214293427First season is better, some decent episodes in the 2nd season, but they retooled it with some different regular characters and the costumes/sets are weaker, too. Try the series UFO which preceded it.
>>214288394How was he the only one who celebrated New Year's?
>>214294846well, the left penetrated positions of power, like hollywood. that things turned out THIS bad came to everyone's surprise. we were used to leftism in media what we didnt think was that the ENTIRE left would consent to trying politically silence the entire right
>>214295087
>>214282851yea its great some people complain about the plot getting worse in second season but I think whole show is fantastic. The actors take it seriously and all feel like real people with real goals and sincere interactions and good always wins, everything is dealt with in a satisfying manner. Great characters, and Buck himself is a charisma generator.
>>214287108>pamela hensleyi really like her. watching old shows from the 70s and she has bit parts in them but started to get bigger ones by the end, strange as her popularity peaked in the early 1980s she retired. right after being in matt houston in 1985 she retired completely
>>214295087I've seen UFO (aka XCOM: Enemy Unknown) it's great
>>214295374i wonder if young star wars dont realize that there is a corrupt princess leia version is out there and she is fucking glorious
>>214282851First season was really goodSecond season was weaker because they changed the focus of the showErin grey gave me a camel toe fetish>>214293038Yes
>>214282851The jewish robot is insufferable. We've had a few buck rogers threads lately are the retards going to reboot it?
>>214289389Brownest meme
>>214295460best character
>>214295087>>214295395>UFO (aka XCOM: Enemy Unknown)Really? It seems boring as fuck, and I loved Space 1999. I was about to import the blu ray, but watching scenes on youtube changed my mind. Seems like a complete snoozefest with 5 minutes of decent footage per episode.
>>214293427Physically painful to watch but then I found the other 2 hadn't aged well either. If you like that kind of thing though, I also recommend the Logan's Run series and The Fantastic Journey, both one-season wonders.(TFJ has a fixup movie floating around. you want the full series)
Space: 1999 had top notch design but the stories were often kind of meh. There are some good one, some stinkers, and a whole lot of meh. Still, the Eagles alone are reason enough to check it out. There was a fan effort to update the show to be Space: 2099, where they used modern effects and fixed anachronisms. But they can't fix the pacing problems or the puzzling decision to make Catherine Schell look weird. There's also a Unreal based model of Moonbase Alpha that's pretty good. I don't have the files but you can find videos on YouTube.
>>214284955>>214286458Na, I agree with the other anon. After Season 1 it's best to turn it off as Season 2 was just meh by comparison to 1.
Maybe I'm in the minority but I like the season two jackets. Also makes sense for them to wear more layers as a Moonbase with limited power likely would be kept somewhat cold.
>>214296312>nooooooooo>don't watch it and decide for yourself!!!!!God, I hate you gatekeeping faggots.
>>214295460>princess ardalaWas her name the inspiration for Princess Amidala in SW?

>>214283120kino matte paintings

Call me weird but I'd totally do this dance with some future MILFs in prom dresses.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqaeMCJWu0o
If I had a nickel for every time Star Trek re-used a Buck Rogers matte painting, I'd probably have enough money to buy a meal off the five dollar menu.
>>214299513Read that file name again, retard
Hawk was such a dumb character. Everything he had was bird related. Even his flight stick had the head of a pigeon on it.
>>214300460Things get reused between productions all the time. TNG spruced up the Buck Rogers matte a bit but otherwise it's the same thing.
>>214283120I love the brutalism
>>214300555I have so many inappropriate questions about how things worked with Hawk Woman.
>>214300599Aaaand which came first, Star Wars or the Buck Rogers TV show, you fucking idiot?
>>214300634As a Detroit kid, I was disappointed to find out that Earth Force HQ wasn't the Renaissance Center but at least that building used the same blueprints.
>>214300655Are you being obtuse? You're the one who pointed out TNG in the filename so you know it wasn't TOS. Buck Rogers was 1979-1980. TNG was the 90s. If you're going to troll, put a bit of effort into it.
>>214300460i did and this matte is based on 70s sci-fi art
>>214300634The architecture of the show reflected the urban development trends of the time, where buildings were insulated from the street, with elevated walkways between them to ensure only the right people would be there. If a mutant bum from Old Chicago wanted to panhandle, he was going to have to do a bit of climbing.

You might be a fan but are you a build a full size model of an Eagle level fan?

>>214283338I like classic BSG but Buck Rogers was way better. Way more entertaining and regular god tier puss
>>214305968I wonder who some of the women in the movie pilot's opening credits are. Obviously Erin Gray and Pamela Hensley but there are a couple of other women in it too who I don't recognize. I thought the one with glasses might be Gil's wife but it turns out he got married to Connie Sellecca around that time. The blonde shown when the credits for Kane is shown is known to be Leann Hunley. Beyond that, the other women are a bit of a mystery.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BINijYepahA&t=80

>>214283120I miss matte paintings. I hate everything now.
>>214309417Can't argue about Ardala. I'm surprised they didn't feature her more. I actually took notes on each episode for when I need to pay extra attention to Wilma, Ardala, guest hotties, etc.
>>214309282I enjoyed seeing all the stuff Julian Gollop stole from UFO
>>214310494>Julian Gollopdon't know who that is, I wanted to watch it because of Evangelion, but it's very boring and stuffy.
s2 is definitely a disappointment but it's still worth at least one watch and Hawk is the best thing about it. It's such a shame they removed Dr. Huer and Dr. Theopolis. Actually a s1 with Hawk added to the cast would have been amazing.
>>214300599IIRC a number of TNG set designers and costumers got their start on Buck Rogers, and I think the two shows even shared an entire costuming or fx company, so early TNG looks very similar to Buck Rogers.
